Don't get me wrong, they're both excellent movies and Heath Ledger is an magnificent Joker. It's just that Begins has more of a comic feel to it, and Dark Knight is a villain movie more than a Batman one.

If i had to choose, i'd agree Begins was better... but it wins that choice by a very small margin I liked the plot to Begins more than Dark Knight for the reason you stated. This makes me uber excited for the third one, though!

If you subtract the Joker parts, particularly the scene in the restaurant kitchen, Begins is easily a better movie top to bottom.

About a year ago, I rewatched both films for the first time since I'd seen them in the theater. I thought this time that Batman Begins was better because it was more focused and didn't overstay its welcome (whereas The Dark Knight felt overstuffed, didn't know when to quit, and had a Joker who was more annoying than interesting), although I still didn't think Begins was anything special. I just still get the sense that these movies feel too embarrassed to admit their comic book roots and are trying too hard to be something "important."

I still prefer buying CDs. Sure, I purchase the occasional song from iTunes here and there, but if I want an entire album I buy the CD. I still have to get most of them from Amazon, but frankly I miss going into music stores. You could find so much stuff just from browsing. I still go to the FYE that's in the mall, but they tend to only carry the most current or popular things, so sometimes I come away empty handed. But yeah, as long as physical CDs are still produced, I will continue to buy them over Digital Downloads every time.

I want physical media so if the house is burning down, I can grab it . Seriously, though, I love liner notes and packaging. I realize you can get those on iTunes, but I personally feel like the package is part of what makes an album special. More to the point, you're right about browsing, and for me, there's something aout having albums/movies lined up on a shelf. I suppose they take up space, but I like having them there. I use iTunes for single songs and such, and I'm going to have to start using it more since less and less CDs are being made (Recorded Books just folded, and I'm still upset that I can't find their Sunset Limited audiobook, and I can't find the CD version of Guillermo del Toro's The Fall, and some of Shane MacGowan's solo stuff is out of print, the list goes on), but I'll hold onto CDs and DVDs for as long as I can.

Am I the only one who never saw the big deal about the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series and actually prefers the movie? I always found it to just be a goofy, fun movie, while I thought the show was too self-conscious and not at all as "hip" as it thought it was.

Am I the only one who is severely disappointed that The Riddler won't be in the new Batman film?

I never really cared for Batman, the character, or even the series. I only really cared about the villains and their interesting personalities and strategies. The Riddler being my all time favorite.

Joker showed up in Dark Knight and I thought he was fantastic. Since Ra's had already been used, The Penguin and Mr. Freeze were announced to not be in the film, I thought, "Oh man, they're gonna use the Riddler, I just know it."

Poison Ivy's and Clayface's abilities might be too special effect-y for this type of Batman film and Bane's overly large muscles might be too off-putting in design to match the rest of the cast. Killer Croc isn't too interesting unless he's being used as some minion role, so it has to be The Riddler! The audience loved the smart, scheming Joker, so Nolan MUST be doing--

CATWOMAN AND BANE. FFFFFFFFFFF.

Catwoman is one of my least cared for villains. She's a giant tease who likes cats, her personality isn't very interesting and she's not entertaining to read/watch. So the fact that she gets shoved in more spotlight than Riddler does these days is disheartening.

When I found out that Riddler wasn't going to be in the third Batman, I just lost all my interest really. Catwoman and Bane aren't highly entertaining enough villains for me to want to watch... and since I like Batman for its villains, you can see why I'm not hyped up for the new film.

It's also a bit upsetting I won't see another actor performance of The Riddler for quite some time now. We haven't had very many, and the cool, cocky, OCD-ridden version that I love (Batman games, Batman:TAS) didn't show up very often.. I mean, in the animated series, he was only in three episodes!

As much as I like Harley, I think she'd be out of place in the Nolan films. Unless they changed her, but then she'd probably be changed so much in order to fit in that she wouldn't even resemble the Harley we all know and love. I remember when she was rumored to appear in a third Schumacher Batman film, and back then I could have pictured Jenny McCarthy playing her. Not sure who could play her nowadays, though.

I'd love to see a well done Riddler in a movie. They could have used Reese as a starting off point, but a wasted opportunity, I say.

Harley would be interesting to see in a tv show or movie, but to do that, they'd have to have Joker show up and we all know they're afraid to pollute the current money maker (see the various Bat Embargos over the years).

Not necessarily. The live-action Birds of Prey had Harley as the big bad, and Joker only briefly appeared all shadowy in a flashback or two. Not to mention, Joker's latest live-action role was 3 and half years ago and he isn't gonna be Dark Knight Rises anyway so he could conceivably pop up in a live-action TV show without WB being afraid of character pollution. We should also give WB credit though, because lately they haven't been as bothered by that. They had both Young Justice and Batman: The Brave and The Bold airing back to back, which had wildly different interpretations of the same characters.

I love Batman and Nolan's take on it, but I'm also disappointed he's not doing the Riddler. I think Riddler could be done pretty well in Nolan's vision, but for whatever reason he doesn't want to. Oh well. As for Harley Quinn, there's always the next Batman movie series (if it's really true Nolan won't do another one after The Dark Knight Rises).


Am I the only one tired of people on the Internet constantly spamming "IMO" or "IMHO" after everything they say? Far too often saying "in my opinion" has really just become a shield for bashing something without repercussions. Well, just because it's "your opinion" does not mean you aren't flat out wrong.

Am I the only one who likes a lighter Batman over a more serious Batman. I really just can't take Batman seriously anymore and I find trying to watch serious Batman movies to be kind of a chore. Everytime I hear "wouldn't fit in with the Nolan movies", I think "So that's why I like that character".

A couple of other thoughts:

Am I the only one who thinks that Jiminy Cricket in Disney's Pinocchio is a horrible conscience? Anyone watch this movie lately. I got it out from the library not long ago. The cricket is late his first day on the job, abandons Pinocchio like two or three times and is easily distracted by women (puppet women, generally). He does a terrible job and he gets a medal for it.

Am I the only one who hates the word "lycan" when applied to werewolves? As I understand it, it's a shortened version of "lycanthrope" that was popularized by the Underworld movies. However, I don't see what the need is for it. If someone needs a two syllable word for werewolf, then why not just say "werewolf"?
