I agree, I would totally watch if they brought Yu Yu Hakusho back, especially since they never finished it. You'd think that would be a relatively cheap show to purchase anyway. And that surprises me about Zatch Bell too. I thought that show had a pretty sub-par dub, especially with the unneeded music changes. It's hard to believe that it was dubbed by the same group as Naruto at the time.

I think Yu Yu Hakusho might actually be more likely than we think.

When Toonami came back, Jason stated on Twitter that they wouldn't bring back Naruto due to budgetary concerns, and look what's happening now! Conveniently, YYH has a much lower episode count than Naruto (even without the filler), so it shouldn't cost as much.

It would also be nice to see YYH with less edits again, since the show's initial move to Toonami resulted in more cuts.

Unless Yusuke drops the F-bomb (pretty sure he doesn't) I think YYH can air uncut on this Toonami now. And I would love to see it in it's full glorious. Even if it took up an hour later on in the block.

Out of those three series, Yu Yu Hakusho probably does have the best chances of getting on the block in the not too distant future. It should be cheaper to get than Naruto and it would have a shorter episode count than most other Shonen series. Although, that does depend on how expensive it actually is and how their budget is after getting Naruto, but it still sounds fairly possible. Personally, I'd much rather see the new Sailor Moon series airing on the block instead. They probably couldn't get the rights to air the original series that aired on Toonami and the quality of the dub would most likely turn people off from it even if they could. Besides that, the new Sailor Moon series would appeal to both the nostalgia crowd who watched the original series years ago, as well as providing something brand new for the block at the same time. It also helps that unlike DBZ, Sailor Moon hasn't been overplayed, so airing the new series when Sailor Moon hasn't been on the air for years could give the block some nice ratings. It might be difficult to get it on their block due to their budget and depending on who gets the license for it, even though Funimation has the best chance to get it at this point, but I'd still love to see it.

Still, I wouldn't mind if they aired YYH at some point. I never saw much of the series, but I'd probably give it a chance to see if it would be entertaining for me. While I liked what I saw of Zatch Bell, I didn't think it was that great and there are plenty of other shows that I would much rather see on the block over Zatch Bell.

This is purely my speculation, but I think Jason wanted to see if he could get any of the other classic shows fans wanted to see back and those part of the April Fools rerun (DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Gundam Wings) were probably top priority for him. It's not that Jason doesn't want those shows back, but I think what happened was that the boss of Adult Swim (William Street) thought either they were out of the range they were willing to pay (DBZ) or didn't have enough star power (Yu Yu Hakusho and Gundam Wings). Naruto probably came in because it was among the Top 3 most successful Toonami shows and had a budget range reasonable enough for them to obtain the rights to the show.

Again, just speculation from my part, but it seems pretty plausible that's what happened and I think it'll turn out well for Toonami.

For Yu Yu Hakusho's chances of returning, I think if my scenario was the case, that it would have been the most likely "classic" pick from April Fools had the show not gotten turned down for some reason. The reason why I doubt it anytime soon (like six months into the future) is because I don't think Jason will repeatedly lobby for money just to get more expensive shows. I think they'll wait until their budget gets larger (they still have a low budget) before trying for another show that previously aired on Toonami.

That said, I do think that they'll obtain a considerably larger budget thanks to likely Naruto success and I think then will Yu Yu Hakusho become a likely option.

Sailor Moon's DIC dub will never again return to Toonami because it's simply too young for the current audience and the dubbing is very bad (but still nostalgic to where I still may buy the DVDs just to relieve memories). If Sailor Moon ever makes it's return to Toonami, it'll be because of an uncut dub (or because of the remake).

Zatch Bell I don't think will ever happen. I also doubt the series is as highly requested as DeMarco thinks (did conduct a search for requests for Toonami shows a few months ago. Not the most accurate and I did leave it unfinished, but Gundam, Tenchi Muyo, Fairy Tail, Darker Than Black, Rurouni Kenshin and many others outdid Zatch Bell in requests).

I know plenty of people who enjoy the DiC dub because the main characters are so awesome, the plots come off as Monty Pythonish, and the script so bad it's good.

But the real reason it will never show again is because of licensing. Until the owners decide to renew it, the anime not going to air again.

I'm pretty sure that DiC & Cloverway Sailor Moon is in licensing hell right now, especially since the creator of the show put a "lock down" on airing the show internationally starting in the mid-2000's. The only way that show has an iota of a chance of coming backing is if Funimation finally licenses and dubs it.

And I think Zatch Bell may be in the same situation as Sailor Moon too, actually. Didn't the creator of the manga have a falling out or something with Studio Pierrot, causing the show to stop airing internationally?

One other reason why Yu Yu Hakusho would be great is that it got the shaft during it's previous run on Toonami and technically never finished on the block itself. A full complete and uncut run of Yu Yu Hakusho would be great.

Though, I barely remember watching it, so maybe it wouldn't be so much of a negative factor against it as I think it is. Regardless, the licensing issue is definitely the main reason why it can't air and I don't think that the Japanese companies, or the creator of Sailor Moon, would want that dub back on the air since I've heard of how there were some issues with some of the edits. Besides that, even if Funimation gets the license to the original series, they'll probably redub it, although the primary focus would be on the new series, so I really doubt that they could air the original Sailor Moon dubs even when the license is picked up by Funimation or another company.

Here's the thing about the old Sailor Moon dubs: They're out of print. Cookie Jar doesn't have their masters and Cloverway has gone under.

ADV and Geneon released uncut dubs of the show on DVD, and we all know what happened to them. You'll have to find them on eBay.

I know this is off topic sort of, but I asked the Toonami guys on Tumblr if Cowboy Bebop had a stealth run on the midnight run to which they responded "nope".

I remember this being a big rumor way back, so I guess we finally have our answer.

Yu Yu Hakusho was released on Blu-ray not too long ago, and with a slightly adjusted dub. FUNi might give it up cheap to promote the Blu-rays, and we get the benefit of an HD broadcast.

Actually, the dub of S and Super S handled under Cloverway was produced Uncut. Same with the three movies. These were given bilingual DVD releases.

Anyway, like I said, casual viewers wouldn't critically analyze Sailor Moon's dub the same way hardcore anime fans do. Fans would still watch out of nostalgia. Not only that, but Toonami doesn't necessarily take a dub's quality into consideration. You're talking about the same people who aired the dub of Cardcaptors and 4kids One Piece. Then again, like you said, the old Sailor Moon anime will probably never air here again anyway.

Correct (not the block itself) The episodes not seen on Toonami began weekly early Saturdays 5:30am October 22nd, 2005. They removed it once it completed. I really enjoyed that final closing theme. There's an old thread on the [as] message boards I myself started about it. I think it'll be proof enough that it happened later on when people discuss what they saw

In my case, a full run wouldn't matter to me, I have the whole series when they released it in eighths, before the 'season sets' came out ~~ but if Toonami ran it, then good for it, it's a great series.
