"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Dude, kudos.

I do notice something, though. I'm sure on April 16th, 2005, Toonami "did not" play "Giru's Checkered Past" -- I'm sure of that and am sure to say they ended up playing "A Grand Problem". I don't have proof of that, but I guess if it's any consolation, I made a mention that the episode was new to America when Nicktoons aired it, and it's lodged in the Nicktoons forum somewhere. I think others have agreed with me

You might be correct, I'll have to do some more digging. Schedule errors have been known to happen, and it's a pain in the butt when trying to archive this. In fact, Toonami made several schedule changes that I had to carefully put into account.

Edit: Looks like you're correct! : https://www.toonzone.net/forums/too...spoilers.html?highlight=Giru's+Checkered+Past
Even back in the day Toonami made scheduling errors...

So... anyone want to make the talkback thread for IGPX?

What was that weird Canada thing at the start of the commercial break?

After some Google-Fu it would appear to be an ad for a Scottish electronic music duo called "Boards of Canada".

I looked it up. "Boards of Canada" is a Scottish electronic band, and the "Warp" seen at the end is one of their labels. So what we saw was perhaps a sample of their music. I was thinking it'd be some "Toonami" showing for 5 seconds, then it dragged on.

Edit: Anyone00 beats me to it, but I get the credit for the "Warp" portion.

SARA IS BACK. Finally.

edit: Ooh she went with naru-do instead of na-ru-to

If you've watched Adult Swim over the years, you may have heard Boards of Canada. They've used their music in their bumps from time to time. Bumpworthy.com will verify this.

They've been leaving clues around BBC radio and NPR and Youtube since Record Store Day last week. I think it's something to do with a new album coming out this year.

I know the secondary font they used for the 2013 rebrand is Eurostile Extended. I want to know what the primary font they used is, for the Toonami logo, the show titles, and game overviews, I mean.

I tried to type all of this earlier, but Internet Explorer kept crashing on me.

Nobody has been able to figure out what the new Toonami font is, and there's a chance the Toonami crew created a new font on their own. However, CabooseJr from Youtube is currently trying to recreate the font.

hmmmm i think something is going on with boards of canda - Jason demarco on twitter said "and for those of you wondering who BOARDS OF CANADA are, it's these guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7bKe_Zgk4o … Wonder if anyone will crack the code...": crack the code hmmm

Or could you say it's...a System Shock :p

Seems too short for a proper review, and the music and creativity usually seen in such reviews is lacking.

Looks like an awesome game though. Were else could you fight a George Washington robot with a machine gun on a flying city?

Well, now we know where they got some of their stock footage from Off the Air.

I thought that the new design for TOM was pretty cool and it was nice that they brought back Sara. I really like the intro bumps and the bumps showing the lineup. It has kind of a digital feel to it that really works for Toonami. I didn't quite understand the Boards of Canada bit though. It dragged on a bit too long for me.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
