Honestly, I thought keeping Attack on Titan to start off the block wasn't a good idea. I could understand that Attack on Titan is popular, but giving reruns to start off the block is not really good in my opinion. It would have been better if Titan reruns aired later. I would've preferred that DBZ Kai should had started off than Titan reruns. Hopefully, DBZ Kai might help the ratings since it will start the block.

I didn't think that it was a bad idea to start off the block with Attack on Titan initially. I thought that it made sense given how well it did with that Labor Day marathon and they probably figured that it would still do well starting off the block in spite of being reruns. It made more sense to keep it at the front of the block than say the season one reruns of Space Dandy in my opinion. Over the last few weeks however, it seemed like starting off with DBZ Kai would be a better move, which is why I'm not too surprised that they moved it up.

Movie month while showing a bunch of movies they've already shown in the last 2 years killed the month of December for them. They lost a nice chunk of the audience that still hasn't returned.

WIthout question, movie month took the wind out of DBZ Kai and InuYasha's sails for a bit and while they are sure to recover you have to wonder how much better things would look had they not pre-empted them both for movies.

It was probably the combination of that and the situation with Dish. I remember that the weeks where Dish dropped channels like Cartoon Network really hurt them, which was a shame given that the end of Attack on Titan and Bleach could have pulled in some really great ratings. Ratings picked up after the situation was resolved for the time being, but that might have been where the issue started for the higher ups.

The month of movies didn't really help either. While I liked being able to see Summer Wars again, having a month of movies that mostly relied on reruns wasn't too helpful. Getting the last two Hellsing Ultimate episodes when they thought that they wouldn't be able to do so was cool, but unless you were already a fan of the series, seeing that at the start of the lineup wouldn't be that appealing and then that would make it less likely to check out the movies they already played last year. The second FMA movie was a good choice, especially when they lost the rights to Brotherhood, but because of the issue with starting off the block with the long Hellsing Ultimate finale, that might have turned some people off from watching it. The only movie that did significantly well was the DBZ movie, which is another reason why DBZ Kai is starting off the block.

Personally, the current lineup feels a bit lackluster for me, but I think that's because there are fewer shows that I'm really interested in watching than I have for awhile. Well, not too surprising considering the slump that Toonami has been in lately.

What's most curious to me though is them moving Attack on Titan back to 2:30. I thought the reruns were still doing well?

Well, the shows on Toonami that I currently watch is DBZ Kai, Inuyasha The Final Act, One Piece, and Gurren Lagann. Sometimes I would watch Naruto Shippuden if there is nothing to watch on other channels in order to wait for the next show to come on and I am planning to watch Kill La Kill. I do see how the lineup has been a bit of lacking for awhile,

Since InuYasha or Star Wars is no longer there to give 5AM a boost, they're kind of stuck when it comes to finding a show that will bring in the viewers.

I really hope this isn't a testing ground for Adult Swim trying to severely decline the Toonami block bit by bit in order to undiversifty their schedule since otherwise... this is by far one of their stupidest moves ever. Really, 5AM is doing so little they need to boost it with another show? That's just pathetic and sad. The super late hours generally don't get anyone even on weekdays. Except if they'are airing a special presentation like that whole Too Many Cooks thing. And even that was at 4AM. Who exactly are they expecting to get at 5AM that'd be such a big draw they want to switch out Toonami shows for AS shows? I really hope this is at least more a case of just general incompetence then the later though. At least ignorance is better then planned devious slow to start but can be utterly devastating for it's fans malice.

i blame the toonami crew, especially that raggedyazz demarco. they're the type of people who love to fly by the seat of their pants, which never works out in the long run. the brasses best course of action is to bring in some new blood because the current team has no clue whats best for business.

anyway, they should obviously get rid of gits when kill la kill airs. when's the last time it did better than anything in the 11:30-3:00 slot?

The people in charge of Adult Swim are to blame, not the Toonami crew. They've done their best with the budget they're limited to using.

Mister Mayhem's bashing of the Toonami crew makes total sense if you can manage complete and total amnesia about the last three years and what's happened in that space of time. This is one setback after a sustained and lengthy period of expansion.

As for anger at Adult Swim generally, well, consider what that really means for a moment. I'd remind everyone that Toonami's return in the first place can be credited in massive measure to Mike Lazzo. And TV is a business.

Losing an hour is still pretty bad, although it is better that it's at the end of the block instead of making the block start later. The fact that this decision was due to the ratings is also a cause for alarm. It isn't a red flag yet, but it's enough to where concerns for the ratings now feels more justified than in other times where people were worried about the ratings. Hopefully, the ratings will start to pick up soon.

Yeah pretty much this. I mean, it sucks that we lost the 5 AM hour, but this might actually be better for the block. They were begining to wear their rotating shows thin with a 6.5 hour block, so at least they'll be able to rest more shows with 5.5 hours. And if the ratings for the block were really all that bad they would have started taking from the front of the block and not the back of it. If people watch Toonami I think that the block will be fine.

That is true, but in the article the title is contradicted

Stop that. Right now. You have no right to make personal judgments about anyone in regards to this situation as you are not at all involved in the production of Toonami, especially when the only thing know for absolutely certain is that the Toonami team and the executives at Adult Swim are all trying their best.
