"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

That's certainly interesting. I haven't listened to an ANNCast for quite some time, looks like this will break the drought.

Guys...........I don't see One Piece coming on during the 8th of March on the Adult Swim schedule.

You.... you don't think....? :'-(

Go to the main adult swim schedule site MadMan400096 and then go to the schedule by show. You know the one right next to "by date". And you'll see they have listings up to March 8th of DBZ, Naruto, Deadman Wonderland, Kill La Kill, Inuyasha, and Gurren Lagan. But nothing for One Piece on that date. Could just be a minor error honestly for all we know but honestly with all the other recent re-schedules and OP not doing the best in ratings it is worrying.

Oh, I see.

Yeah, probably just an error. I wouldn't put any stock into it until we get confirmation from actual personnel. Probably just an oversight.

I think they might play the entire Toonami block that night, even with the missing hour. (There's so much time leftover on the Adult Swim block, after all...)

Of course, One Piece wouldn't be listed since schedule listings skip that hour by default. Even if it doesn't play... Eh, it's only a week. Whatevs.

Not only that, but I think that night is when the first episode of the two-part One Piece Boss Luffy New Years special airs. So there shouldn't be much to worry about unless you want a light-hearted change of pace from the Enies Loby arc with an alternate Edo Period era plot with cameos of past One Piece characters.

But Gurren Lagann is in the same hour that One Piece is, and that is listed. I'm sure it's just an error but a weird one.

In the spring/March DST we lose an hour, so if that's the case, they just opt to not play One Piece or Deadman Wonderland - unless the latter is listed?

You might want to check the schedule again, One Piece is now listed to air on March 8th. Everything past 2am is moved an hour later, so nothing on Toonami will be skipped.
3:00 - Gurren Lagann
3:30 - One Piece
4:00 - Deadman Wonderland

Well, that's good to know! :D

And once again, there was no need to panic about One Piece's fate on the lineup in the first place.

Granted the spring-forward for DST, first time Toonami will see 3:30am-4:30am EST in... a month :P

Cool that Toonami keeps the full swing and just for that week comedy encores get pulled. I imagine come November we get an extra hour of Toonami unless they throw in 2 random comedies later. We shall see in due time. (once summer is long gone, bleh)

So Jason Demarco was on this week's Anime News Network podcast to discuss and answer questions all about Toonami. It which he revels that he always wanted the block to be 3 hours of premieres but CN made it 6, How they acquire the shows and the relationships they've built with the anime studios and licencors, They're role in Big O's ending and how a certain scene in Sword Art Online doesn't bother them at all.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
