"Young Justice" News & Discussion Thread, Part 24 (Spoilers)

Glancing at the listings, all the new shows are slated for 2013, yet it says 13/14. Would shows coming out in the fall of 14 not make it? But I'm probably grasping at straws here.

I suppose it's possible that a season 3 and new GL could appear late 2014/early 2015, with Bats and TT taking over for a while, but I won't hold my breath. As long as the Earth is saved and my favorite characters survive, I'll be content with the season 2 ending.

I don't know guys. I'd like to hope that it is coming back but almost everything is pointing to its conclusion. It has been a good run though. Sporadic, but good. Question: We were informed about Invasion well before the conclusion of season one, weren't we? Or was it close to its premiere which was like a week after the season finale?

My kneejerk reaction was "bad news", and I suppose it is in the sense that at a minimum this implies that either more Young Justice and GL TAS are not in production right now or are barely underway. On the other hand announcements do happen outside of upfronts, and the fact is that even if Young Justice is greenlighted to keep going, season 3 was never all that likely to hit the airwaves this year. Certainly not after the unexpected hiatus.

My guess is that DC Nation remains 1 hour for the foreseeable future, YJ and GL get swapped out for the new shows. And when the first batch of those finish...well, that future isn't written yet.

What I'd prefer is a block expansion and the current shows getting the reruns they richly deserve. But so far that wish is simply that.

They'd better not cancel Young Justice for Teen Titans go! That shows awful.

i also hope GL doesn't get cancelled that needs a few more seasons.

is YJ doing poorly ratings wise?

No, it is doing well enough from what I can tell.

Certainly not the news I wanted to hear, but I'm kind of in the same mindset as GWOtaku here. Hopefully this shows CN switching shows out rather than canceling them.

The show not being on the upfronts is about as official a confirmation you will ever get.

Just like Thundercats. The fate of that show was never officially confirmed either. Young Justice and Green Lantern are dead.

Well no, I don't expect Cartoon Network to explicitly confirm cancellation. I'm saying we will be able to deduce this when we next hear about what's new with DC Nation beyond Beware the Batman and Teen Titans Go...and not until then.

ThunderCats / Sym-Bionic Titan / etc are flawed analogies because Cartoon Network could have rerun them within a very large, wide-open schedule and chose not to (until Adult Swim stepped in). But DC Nation is playing musical chairs with an hour of time.

Damn that sucks. I hope series ends with happy ending for all.

Young Justice and Green Lantern are dead. It's a shame because they were both creatively successful shows.

It's not a flawed analogy so much as the shows weren't at the upfronts, so they aren't doing them.

Is there a possibility that YJ and GL will just be off the air until BTB and TTG finish their 13 eps?

What the upfront PR specifically means is that YJ and GL TAS aren't coming back this year (+ "early 2014" I suppose). My reasoning is that this is not necessarily meaningful news given that this was almost certainly not in the cards in the first place, between the time it takes to put the episodes together and the new programming they're making time for on the block this year.

I have no idea what they'll do with DC Nation programming next. But I think it's reasonable to be agnostic on whether in 2014 we see 2nd seasons of Beware the Batman + Teen Titans Go, new YJ or GL TAS and/or completely new programming altogether. What separates these from other action shows cut short is that they have been rerun in contrast to Tron Uprising, Motorcity, ThunderCats + Sym-bionic Titan, which were one-and-done and considered to be underachievers by the suits.

Yeah. Nobody knows what's going to happen to these two shows, so anything goes. I'm keeping an open mind, but I'm not distressed about the fate of the shows.

Fingers are well & truly crossed cause YJ and GL are both great shows that deserve to have more seasons.

Newsarama.com : YOUNG JUSTICE, GL: TAS Officially Canceled, CLONE WARS Moves?

Newsarama are reporting that Young Justice and Green Lantern are cancelled, and the first paragraph mentions that a representative for Warner Bros. Animation has confirmed it. :(

If it's true that the representative said that, then the writing's on the wall. I'm hoping that Newsarama is mistaken and has taken the representative's words out of context, but that doesn't seem likely. :(

I knew that when they weren't at the upfront they were cancelled. :(

I'd kind of like to see an actual quote, but yeah. That's not good.

Extremely dissapointed in the news. Though there were many signs, I had been holdong out hope. Will watch both through until the end. I will say that I'm almost donewith Cartoon Network. With these shows cancelled, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars most likely moving to Disney XD, the oly thing I may watch is Total Drama All Stars, and even that is a maybe, as Total Drama: Revenge of the Island was only so-so. I may see what reactions are to Beware the Batman and Teen Titans Go, but I probably won't watch either, as Beware is probably cancelled before it even airs, and I like continuity in a series, which Teen Titans Go seems like it won't have. Sad to see two great shows both being killed in their prime.

Not surprised. We all saw the writing on the wall a while ago. But now I have no need to get up at 1030 on Sats to watch CN. Ill give my time to Nickelodeon.
