Spider-Man envies Deadpool's free-spirited life, but that all may change after one day in Deadpool's madcap world!

It's weird to think that this is Deadpool's first real appearance on a tv show. Up until now, he's just had cameos in 90's X-Men & the X-Men anime.

First half was freaking hilarious. Then we found out that Deadpool is a mercenary and the villain of the episode. I got kind of lost on what was going on with the fantasy battle thing.

Anyways, while it was nice to see Taskmaster again, unfortunately, he didn't get to do much. Also, it seems that he dropped his interest in Spidey.

Apparently, Spidey never heard of Deadpool before. But in episode 24, we saw him and Harry play a fighting game that had Deadpool in it.

That's why a story editor is the most important writing staff

I actually liked the episode. Deadpool being a SHIELD agent is a good twist on his origin, since that's too TV-MA for this show. I could definitely tell that this week's episode was Joe Kelly-written, with DP desperately trying to pass himself off as a lovable hero, while still trying to enjoy his moral-less mercenary life-style.

Will Friedle was still kinda grating at first, but I think that's more because USM just has bad voice direction for some reason.

Which makes sense, this is suppose to be Joe Kelley era Wade.

Wasn't that in one of Spidey's flashbacks though?

?

At the beginning of "The Iron Octopus" (Which is actually episode 22 once I think about it) we see Peter and Harry playing a video game. Harry is Deadpool and Peter Spider-Man. Harry manages to cream Peter and mentions how Peter got "Pooled."

This episode was actually pretty entertaining. I at least enjoyed it way more than I expected to. I definitely think it works very well for what it is: Deadpool's introduction to TV.

Deadpool was perfectly in character as everyone's favorite "Merc with a Mouth," as to be expected from an episode co-written by Joe Kelley. He's manic, insane, psychotic, fun, and deadly all in one package, as Deadpool should be. As for Will Friedle's performance, he's certainly no Nolan North but I think he had more highs and lows. He could just try being a little less high-pitched...

I was hoping they'd make some veiled references to Weapon X to explain his powers and connection to Wolverine, but a back story with S.H.I.E.L.D. fit the plot better in creating the main contrast between Spidey and Pool. Too bad we never got to hear Deadpool's real name. I was half expecting him to throw out "Wade Wilson" when he was trying to guess Spidey's secret identity.

If there was one thing about the episode I was a little iffy on, its the Team being all pro-Deadpool. Now, I love Deadpool too but that's because I don't have to hang out with him. Considering how most of the Marvel Universe consider Deadpool to be annoying and a pain in the neck, I'm surprised the Team liked him so much when they were stuck having to train with him. Then again, this is the Team we're talking about.

It was nice to see Taskmaster again even if he didn't really contribute much. I liked his new costume at least.

The final fight between Spider-Man and Deadpool turning into a fourth-wall breaking fantasy fight was both so random yet so fitting at the same time, especially considering Deadpool's character and how most of the comedy on the show works. It's like they realized that their version of Spidey had so many similarities to Deadpool, at least in terms of the fourth wall shtick, that they just had to stuff the episode with as much of it as possible once Deadpool showed up.

I will sum up my thoughts in one sentence: this is the first USM episode that I liked from start to finish, flaws included. :)

Hopefully the show will do more episodes like this one and like "Journey of the Iron Fist".

I also loved how Deadpool made fun of the "Never say die" trope.

Too bad he said it was a verbal tic, and couldn't say it's because of network censors. Still, "unalive someone" is one of the funniest things to come out of this show.

I wasn't too thrilled with Deadpool's voice. I always thought it would be a little less high pitch. This is the first time I've seen him animated and I hope he appears again.

This episode was pretty funny. I'm not really a Deadpool fan, but he was pretty cool here, and I had no problem with Friedle's take on the character. I was a bit annoyed how Taskmaster was made to be such a joke, but oh well.

It does make sense why Taskmaster was made out to be a joke. I'm pretty sure it's been established in the comics that he can't read Deadpool's actions because he's too random and crazy. Tasky can own pretty much everyone who is not Deadpool.

Okay, fine, but then Spider-Man beat him off-handedly by webbing him as if he was some mugger. That was lame.

OK, I really dislike Deadpool the character (with apologies to the normally brilliant Fabien Nicieza), so I was really not expecxting to enjoy this episode at all.

And for the most part I was right - much of what I hate about Deadpool as he's supposed to be written (and I will say, the writers nailed it in the correct Deadpool idiom) are the same things I despise about the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show - unfunny, stupid humor, breaking the fourth wall to break any dramatic rhythm, blah blah blah, you've all heard it before.

What I didn't quite "get" until now is how much of the Deadpool schtick they ripped off of Deadpool and grafted wholesale onto Spider-Man. They tried to make Spider-Man into Deadpool, and this episode shows how they couldn't even pull that off effectively.

Spider-Man is a serious character who quips and jokes under the pressure. Deadpool is a farcical character, and while I don't care for the character as written, at least he is who he is designed to be. The USM version of Spider-Man is like a cross between the normal Spider-Man character and Deadpool, and achieves neither very well.

Yeah, not a fan of this episode as well. While there were some hints of brilliance, like the "not allowed to say kill" gag and an attempt of giving some poignancy to Deadpool, most of the episode was just littered with obnoxious humor. Particularly, the recent run by Daniel Way, which had mindless, stupid humor, ignoring the depth and nuance writers like Nicieza, Kelly, and even Simone have brought to his character.

How do you define how he's "supposed" to be written? Which runs have you read that convinced you of this?

Nice episode. Deadpool was pretty cool and true to his character (crazy and fun). Those origin story times were hilarious. Plus he is deadly and random in battle (fantasy or not). His voice really fits with each scene.

I share sabrewolf´s issue about Spidey´s teammates liking Deadpool. They really think everybody loves him. Right. I can see why Fury wanted someone more experienced for the team.

Taskmaster didn´t appear as much but it´s great he´s still around. Loved his dialogue with Spidey. Too bad he couldn´t counter Deadpool´s moves (insanity gives him an advantage).

Really enjoyed the episode. Hope we get more.

As someone who really enjoyed Taskmaster's first appearance in "Why I Hate Gym", I was disappointed with this episode. They waited over 35 episodes to bring back Taskmaster for this? He was set up as a genuine threat to Spider-Man and his team, was shown to have history with SHIELD, Fury and Coulson, had his own SHIELD team of trainees, was a master of disguise, and wanted to get revenge on Spidey. And all this was pretty much thrown under the bus to establish that Deadpool is just so totally awesome. Taskmaster didn't need to be in the episode at all. It could have been Batroc who wanted the file and it wouldn't have made a difference. I guess the writers didn't want to follow up on the questions from WIHG and decided to make Taskmaster just Deadpool fodder. I thought for awhile the show had forgotten about Taskmaster. After this episode, I almost wished they had.

Joe Kelly worked on the episode and Deadpool in this episode what based on Kelly's Deadpool and acted like it.

Except this isn't new, Deadpool has beaten in the comics and even in the comics Tasky can't read Deadpool's moves.

Find it hard to beleive how this upcoming set has more than one normally-considered "politically incorrect" cartoon in new restoration form..

i'm back on ANIME SUPERHERO, i now use reddit, i also watched toy story 5 recently, happy bday TOM KENNY
I'm not Canadian but I'm kind of upset that Teletoon became Cartoon Network Canada.
It's official: I have now preordered GTA VI for PlayStation 5; the more expensive and feature-complete Ultimate Edition of the game, that is. I also intend to buy a PS5 Slim optical drive next month (EDIT: Done!) in the hopes of maybe indirectly convincing SIE to reverse its controversial plans to go all-digital on all post–Jan 2028 PS console games, even though GTA VI is a digital-only game.
Happy anniversary to "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout".
