Yes, but you didn't say daily in that part of the sentence and more to the point, at least Family Guy and The Simpsons are syndicated to broadcast stations on a daily basis, and at least FG airs in virtually the entire country.

In most markets, not all, and not on a national scale on broadcast television on a regularly-scheduled network lineup.

For example, in my market, The Simpsons only airs in syndication in a 2-and-a-half-hour strip on Saturday afternoons.

Looks like it wont be airing in my area, at least not yet (though my cable provider does carry METV so there is a better chance that it'll show up sooner or later). Wonder what the FAST channel will be, will it just be like Comet's FAST channel and just be the main feed, or will it have selections of shows to watch on demand?

I may be willing to subscribe to Frndly for the channel. I have in the past for regular MeTV. The idea of OTA TV is great but it kinda sucks when you live 50 miles from the broadcast towers.

Also, I never used MeTV Mall before. Have they always had sections for Cartoon Network, Animaniacs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and such? Or are those new?

They have had many retro shows and movies on the site in the past, including DC, Marvel, Cartoon Network, Hanna-Barbera, and other studios.

They've also had DC and Hanna-Barbera-inspired Mego figures in the past and various movies like Back to the Future, Grease, Star Wars, Spielberg films, and others not associated with the MeTV brand.

I don't think anything is a direct harbinger of what's to come on either MeTV or MeTV TOONS.

Yeah, well, I’ve seen that specific Underdog shirt in the store before. Promoting it as a “new toon design” probably implies that this merch is for the toons coming to MeTV Toons, not new merch in general. Which certainly implies something for Pinky and the Brain and Felix the Cat…

I do remember MeTV selling Animaniacs T-shirts before MeTV Toons was even a thing.

Until I see or hear confirmation from MeTV themselves, I can't really speculate whatever or not those cartoons are coming to MeTV Toons just because of the MeTV Mall apparel. Let's just wait and see.

I do have to mention that is the most open Warner has been to letting someone else purchase rights to run their stuff. The Phone Company and the Spinning Globe Company as owners have been much better at that than the previous Time Warner. ABC lost rights in 2000, and TW locked things onto CN and Boomerang that whole time. Kids WB did have new Scooby Doo and etc, but they weren't airing the classic stuff that late either. Under the Phone Company they let METV buy the rights two run two Hanna-Barbera shows that never happened before, the allowed Toon in with Me to happen with more stuff. Under Discovery, they let Tubi buy rights to stuff and METV have more stuff, and now a letting Weigel launch a channel with that stuff.

You know, I think you might be onto something. WB did a much better job of letting other networks purchase the rights to their LT/HB library than Time Warner did with Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

If you really think about it, Time Warner wanted the Hanna Barbara and Looney Tunes under Cartoon Network and Boomerang only and not let anyone touch them. It took many many years later for AT&T to let HB and WB library air on broadcast network like MeTV, and let's just say, it did paid off so well.

I get what Time Warner wanted to do (having WB/HB library exclusively under Turner's cable offerings makes it more attractive), but sometimes if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

^Seems like Warner Brothers wanted to copy Disney's strategy of keeping all of their IPs and projects under their own banner exclusively, but Disney's model only seems to work for them. Most likely this is because the Mouse House has other money making outlets (most notably it's the e parks) to fall back on.

Exactly. At least Disney knows they got back ups, so they don’t have to rely on other networks to syndicate shows for them. Time Warner doesn’t have that luxury.

Some may disagree with me, but sometimes things work best for what they are instead of what they are not. That’s what Cartoon Network tends to forget. They are not Nickelodeon. They are not Disney. They are Cartoon Network. No ifs, and, or, buts.

Hell, it doesn’t help that Time Warner don’t really see the value of its animation library and wants that Nickelodeon money by making original programming. To be fair, it’s not a bad thing since we need new shows on cable in order to survive, but I just don’t want them to forget about who they were, and see the value in animation that can be passed down to different generations.

The more I deep dive into the madness, the more I am happy that MeTV Toons exist.

Your welcome. And you're right, CN should've stay market itself as a alternative to Nick and Disney, not a clone to Nick and Disney.

Did Turner really think that abandoning CN's original mission in favor of being a kids network is gonna bring in more viewers?

I not only hope MeTV Toons is successful (and that it becomes available in my area), but that its' success will allow WBD to pour more care into their original animation departments.

I hope so once the cost cutting tactics completely subsides.

As long as they do it right, then I'll be okay with it.

I noticed MeTV used to speed up with opening and ending in shows like MASH to lengthen the ads time.

Yep. When they first premiered The Flintstones on MeTV, the channel kept the original "Rise and Shine" opening for the first two seasons for a couple of years before shifting to the shorter and more familiar "Meet the Flintstones" opening, which was a syndicated standard for generations of viewers. In MeTV's case, it's the full "Meet The Flintstones" opening with Pebbles and the Rubbles.

I hope they keep the original openings on MeTV TOONS and don't squash them down as most networks do. God forbid they have the kind of end credits seen on Boomerang because, yikes!

Hell, I even heard Checkered Past got affected with Dexter's Lab end credits.


How can you screw that up?

I remember MeTV did the same thing with certain episodes of Perry Mason.

TBF, at least MeTV is no where near as bad as WBD when it comes to compressing end credits.

TBS is notorious for horrible butchered episodes of Seinfeld and they tried hard to have 11 minutes of show and 11 minutes of ads after speeding and cut the scenes.

Viewers paid $200-$300 per month for cable but they got TBS with very heavy ads that wasn't thing back in 1980s.

If I was legislator, I will definitely legislate the bill to put cap on ads at 10 minutes on weekends and 12 minutes on weekdays for all broadcast and cable channels, also put limit on infomercials and ban on speeding and cutting the shows and movies. If this law is in force, Disney would end up air Mickey Mouse shorts on Freeform and ABC, and as for TBS, it would be Looney Tunes shorts because they can't air more ads lol.

Yeah, that was a complete ripoff. I feel bad for a lot of the consumers.

More speculation about shows, do you think they'll make a deal with Disney/Marvel to air the 60s Fantastic Four cartoon? WBD does own the rights (I've seen footage of it with the Cartoon Network bug in the corner) and it would be a great way to help promote the upcoming movie.
