MeTV Toons - Network TALKBACK & Discussion Thread

I would love to have Pokémon shows on MeTV Toons but sadly, syndication rights is likely too expensive with TPC preferred streaming to linear TV.

Pokémon don't fit with MeTV nor H&I because MeTV only aired theatrical cartoon shorts in the morning and H&I is strictly 100% live action drama shows and certain western shows. Also, MeTV removed cartoon shows, exception of theatrical cartoon shorts after MeTV Toons launched.

I'm asking you to look at H&I and tell me about what you think?

See? H&I is not for animation at all.

MeTV Toons is one that is real possibility if TPC changes their heart, also Weigel could launch 24/7 anime channel but seems unlikely for OTA due to very niche market. If MeTV Toons get Pokémon, they are likely to get permanent time slot with shows up to Ruby and Sapphire or maybe Diamond and Pearl. Newer Pokémon shows? That is either Disney XD or CN territory.
That's not true. Pokemon has been aired a bit on some other broadcast networks and diginets. And it got so succesful they managed to reach up to a least the Orange Island arc. The real reason would be that it simply isnt old enough for Me TV Toons... but if the only rule for MTT is simply "No new cartoons" as they've said I dont see why Pokemon wouldnt join in. The license fee is still a lot of money but I bet the Pokemon Company would be very happy to make a deal with Wiegel.

Ash Ketchum is a hero and an icon, so Pokemon would be a good fit for H&I.

H&I is strictly live action drama shows like Start TV and they never aired cartoon shows.

MeTV Toons aired numbers of hero shows that where Pokémon would fit here.

It didn't help when TPC disorganized the Pokémon shows on multiple streaming and they aren't straightforward as The Simpsons.

I'm sure metv toons will expand eventually to include hackdub cartoons and the like.

So nobody is able to contact METV Toons about King Koopas Kool Kartoons at all?

So I saw Jason The Cartoon Fan mention this on BlueSky and checked it out for myself this morning. MeTV Toons recently started airing the remastered version of Inspector Gadget that was previously only available on Gamisodes behind a paywall. Inspector Gadget looks so much better now.

Finally, Wildbrain released those newer copies to the public.

I thought those were AI upscaled, not true remasters?

There's a question of whether DIC's film negatives still exist, or are accessible.

Even the tape elements have probably seen better days. The last Inspector Gadget DVD had to have disclaimers about tape damage.

I doubt it's licenseable
Same here, it has never rerun on cable or other stations.

DIC probably don't know about where master tapes are from and it is very lost media.

MeTV Toons has a lot of old shows that haven't air yet and they prioritize to air them instead of lengthy hunt for lost media that is obscure and may not found at all.

And besides, it was an LA exclusive.

It's good to see them airing at least two of the Rankin Bass Easter specials. Like last Christmas and airing the one that rarely aired on TV.
