This Direct stood out as a
Xenoblade Direct with the release of Switch 2 editions of the previously released games and the announcement of a new game for next year.
Xenoblade Chronicles X getting a Switch 2 edition also helped in that regard. It's still annoying for Nintendo to sell these games (especially the ones that wasn't
Xenoblade 3) at full price plus $10.
I also won't play
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave just yet because I want to play the older games on Switch at some point first. On that note...
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave: I want to at least play "Fire Emblem: Three Houses" first...
Xenoblade Genesis: Gotta play the prior Xenoblade games first. Are you seeing a pattern? I'm also debating if I should get into "Fire Emblem" or "Xenoblade" first?
I'm in a similar position too since I also want to check out other JRPGS like those 2 series. And
Final Fantasy and
Tales of (I only played
Arise so far). And
Granblue Fantasy: Relink. And I just started getting into the
Atelier games. Speaking of which...
Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and Guide of Memories had a few gameplay clips shown in a montage, but whether I'll actually be able to play that or
Yumia is a different topic.
I did like the visuals of
Final Fantasy Resonance, but I also feel like playing the earlier games first including the remake trilogy.
I suppose I should acknowledge the 2nd remake of
Ocarina of Time. I did play the remake on the 3DS a few years ago, and it honestly felt awkward to play with Link moving like a penguin and the targeting for combat feeling more confusing than helpful at times. None of that was helped with the game being on a small screen. That's why I still would've liked to see how I would've felt about the game if I played it on a tv, and I don't want to pay for NSO to do that. Hearing the catchy tune "Saria's Song" again was pretty nice. Otherwise, there was nothing to say since the video was just a teaser of Link sleeping. I'm still hoping for
Wind Waker and
Twilight Princess to get ported. We already got
Skyward Sword on Switch, so what's holding up the other 2 games? I do also wonder if
Majora's Mask will get ported and/or remade. And I still wouldn't be against porting the other games to the console and not restricting them to NSO.
Stellar Blade getting ported to the Switch 2 was quite a surprise. It may be from Shift Up which is not owned by Sony, but having "Sony Interactive Entertainment" as the publisher on the game's PS store listing implied that Sony wouldn't share the game on other platforms especially since Sony also recently decided to not port anymore of their single-player games to PC. Xbox players must be tired of getting the short end of the stick.
I was wondering when DLC for
Dragon's Dogma 2 would get announced, and I'm surprised it was also being called "Dark Arisen" like in the previous game. However, the new area was called "Norgan" and full of ice and snow as opposed to the previous game's Bitterblack Isle being - well - dark. Now, I'll just wait for a complete edition.
I wanted to play the
Kingdom Hearts at some point, but I completely forgot about the series until this direct reminded me of their existence. I never played the games, but they always stood out to me for featuring Disney characters. And looking at the titles of the games, I can see why I forgot about them as the numbering of the other games confused the hell out of me. There was the collection called "All In One" in the PS store, and the description mentioned 5 games, but the series has more than 5 games, so I didn't immediately know what it actually included. It seems that collection had almost everything, and the release of a new collection has that plus a little more, so I should try getting into these games at some point. And there was the announcement of
Kingdom Hearts 4. Add that to the pile.
Finally, there was
Runescape: Dragonwilds which only stood out to me for being connected to the MMO all the way from the 2000s. It looks like this could be played solo or with other people. I never played the original game, but I had a friend who did. I don't know if I'll check this out.
