A new Looney Tunes short will premiere at the Annecy Festival in June.

From Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, Daffy Season a Looney Tunes short filmDaffy is ready for Duck Season, but Elmer is too immersed in his new obsession – soccer – to come hunting. Slowly the world around Daffy turns into a zombie-esque nightmare as the Tunes become obsessed with the sport.

And to think that fans exaggerated over nothing! Looney Tunes isn't DEAD and David Zaslav is NOT the bad guy! Either way, I'm looking forward to this short!

They seem to be on a roll this year, with new Olympics shorts, a Fortnite collab, this short. And let's not forget the much-anticipated ex-write off Coyote vs. ACME.

Huh, honestly feel like it's rare to have Daffy and Elmer together without Bugs...though maybe Bugs will still appear :).

There is a lot of opportunity for a Looney Tunes ensemble with this premise. The world around Daffy might indicate we could see Taz, Pepé and Speedy considering this might have a World Cup theme to it considering their respective identity with Australia, France and Mexico. Granted if it is just a limited cast, I can deal with that because Daffy is the star.

This will certainly be an unconventional but interesting short.

This will be CG animation. DNEG is working on it. They also did the animation for Coyote vs. ACME and the upcoming Cat in the Hat movie. I think they will do something stylized like Spiderverse or DreamWorks’ recent movies.

Eric Bauza and Jeff Bergman are attached to it.

Via Animation Magazine.

Following the discussion of the studio’s new vision, was the world premiere of the anarchic theatrical short Daffy Season, directed by Todd Wilderman and Hamish Grieve and produced by Susan Slagle Rogers. The team highlighted the work of Rachel Daniel-Gallo, a production designer whose art for the film was inspired by Maurice Noble’s vivid, stylized environments. “It was important to honor the hand crated spirit of animation,” Wilderman said. Grieve added that even with all of the homage, the team’s goal “wasn’t to recreate the past but to build on it.” The timing of the short is uncanny — featuring a story about Daffy Duck’s fits of jealous rage when he realizes the duck hunting season has been replaced by a feverish love of soccer.

Daffy Duck vs Soccer! What timing :p.

And they shoehorned Lola Bunny. She replaced Pepe Le Pew as the chef of Acme Looniversity in Tiny Toons Looniversity. Animaniacs killed him off as he is still erased into the void.

Here's a preview.

Fun collection of Looney Tunes' here! Also a full CGI Looney Tunes short O_o.

Least it makes sense to have Lola involved in something athletic-based :).

The last part I exaggerated. Lola did not replace Pepé Le Pew. I just want Warner Bros to lift his permanent ban for good. At least the Looney Tunes look better here compared to their CG photorealistic look in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

I don’t even see Tweety in this short considering Warner Bros. shoehorns him in everything they produced.

They should have had this play in front of Supergirl to tie in with the World Cup. It's not like it would have hurt the Box Office...

"It’ll Be Daffy Season This November"

Daffy-Season-054.jpg

"Last month during Annecy, Warner Bros mentioned during their presentation they were producing a new theatrical short starring Daffy Duck, to be released within the year. They didn’t reveal much beyond that, but as of now we have all the missing information about Daffy Season — what it looks like, what it’s about, and what movie it will play in front of this fall.

It turns out the subject of Daffy Season is very relevant to this specific place and time…it’s about soccer! Daffy is expecting Elmer Fudd to start hunting him again soon, only to discover he’s gotten into futbol and is sitting at home watching the World Cup. Daffy being Daffy, he’s insulted no one wants to try and shoot him right now. He takes the lack of threat to his own life as a blow to his ego, and tries to argue he is bigger than soccer. “Soccer season!” “DAFFY SEASON!”"

It's weird that not even Tweety and Sylvester are in the short.

New Looney Tune coming out months after the FIFA World Cup, and we made it to the final game already. Hope it's any good, though. People are loving the Looney Tunes Wacky World of Sports video game already!

Eric Bauza also shared that Jenny Jaffe wrote many new Looney Tunes theatrical shorts.

Based on WBPA's slate in 2027-2028, we are likely getting six more at best.

A new short in front of "Bad Fairies", "Margie Claus", "Oh the Places You'll Go", "Dynamic Duo", "Hello Kitty" and "The Lunar Chronicles".

I think this short film is going to be a disaster because it uses the Chuck Jones character personalities and Jones is a smug animator enabled by his terrible parents to start acting like them, also bugs in this short is just too pleased of himself like that is just horesefeathers to me that they still use the Jones personalities.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
