I didn't watch a lot of Olympics today (lots of curling) sadly

Meanwhile I'm varying between 4-6 channels through an Olympic day.

Looks like both the USA men and women's hockey team will be in the Gold Medal game.

• USA got bronze in slope style Snowboarding. It wasn't Red or Ollie either, it was Jake Canter. I'm glad for him, his backstory is a lot. I'm always surprised how the judges decide things though.
• Canada won in overtime for hockey. USA won in overtime in hockey, they both move on the semi-finals Canada vs Finland and US vs Slovakia this FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY, winners go to the gold medal game (Sunday), the losers go to the bronze medal game (Saturday)
• The women's team plays on Thursday
• The USA vs GB women's curling match was intense it even seemed USA was going to eliminate GB but then GB has a great 10th end and turned everything around. USA has to win on Thursday to go the semi-finals
• Not sure if the US men curling will make it.
• Mikaela Shiffrin has won a gold!

Looks like both the USA men and women's hockey team will be in the Gold Medal game.

Want to correct myself. The US men's hockey team is going to the semifinals, not final game. The US women did have their gold medal game today against Canada and they won in overtime, 2-1. It was a really thrilling match from start-to-finish.

Over at women's skating, Amber Glenn had a much better skate today and Alysa Liu became the first American woman to win Gold in the sport since 2006. Congrats!

• The Men's bronze will be Norway vs Switzerland , their gold is GB vs Canada

• Saw ski mountaineering today, it's ummm something. It's sprint races on skies going uphill, then taking off the skis putting them in your backpack, there's a backpack, walking up some stairs, then going downhill. Sure why not? Spain won their first winter gold medal ever and their 2nd winter Olympic medal, since 1972. Skimo.
• Still funny to me they postpone events because of snow

Getting to watch Alysa Liu win the Gold Medal last night (with my kids beside me) was one of the best highlights of watching the Olympics in.....years. Haven't felt this good about watching an American competitor since watching Michael Phelps back in 2016 Summer Olympics.

Feels like the last decade has been a drag (for various reasons, like Covid keeping things muted, or with the host countries being China or France, etc), but now the Olympics are back. Or maybe I was just excited to see Alysa Liu win the gold.

Definitely looking forward to 2028.

• The US women's curling team lost the semi-finals so they go the bronze medal match against Canada (Saturday Saturday Saturday), Gold medal match is between Switzerland and Sweden (Sunday Sunday Sunday)
• Switzerland men beat Norway for Bronze, GB vs Canada Gold medal today
• Glad Corinne Stoddard was able to get bronze
• USA vs Canada for men's hockey Gold medal final, Sunday. Finland and Slovakia fight for Bronze
• Kind of sad the events are almost over, been fun.

• Team USA women curling didn't win bronze in , there is a team USA curling medal in mix doubles so our strength is doubles Cory Thiesse did get a record in how many ends she played this Olympics thanks to her being in both the doubles and women's team. She had 190 ends.
• Canada's Men have won the gold in curling, the cheating scandal thing didn't hurt them. GB gets silver. Final curling is Sunday morning
• If you type in something Olympics in google, you get a dog running across your screen go
• Finland has won bronze in the Olympics, the NHL thing made a difference, the last Olympics Finland were the winners of gold , they beat Russia (who weren't playing as Russia). The last time Canada got any medal in the men's hockey was in 2018 (no NHL that year either) where the winners were "Russia" again couldn't compete as Russia. The last time the NHL players were in it, Canada won gold, and the US didn't medal. Russia didn't make it, as host country, the last time they competed officially.
• Saw skimo relays, this is fun hope they keep that in there.
• Will the French Alps release their logo for 2030 during the closing? will they? The closing is live on your favorite NBC station at 2:30pm ET Live and Peacock (don't forget to cancel if you only got it for the Olympics) repeating at 9pm and after your local news or whatever your NBC station does at 11/10c.

The US men's hockey team won their first Gold in 46 years, beating Canada in a sudden death thriller. This is their first Gold since the "Miracle On Ice" game against the Soviets and later, Finland.

Anyway, you also didn't learn who won women's curling : Sweden beat Switzerland.

• Really fun to know that my hockey team has players that got gold, silver and bronze.
• I'm glad the NHL put them back , hope in 2030 they'll continue that
• The closing ceremony was really nice , I enjoyed the theme they went for and it was a nice send off and intro to France as too Always get a little sad when they are over. Italy did a great job. From the context, these were the best winter Olympics in a while, the 2022 ones were kind of dour, and yeah it's was much better having crowds and people there.
• We had the best and random storylines this year too including the dog
• Glad Norway got to lead the table in medals, their whole country is winter might as well , Italy did well too

The last 30 minutes of the closing ceremony. For its first 1,5 hour it was muted on the small phone, while Cartoon Network was on the TV.
