OK, he wasn't really a jerk, but he seemd to lack empathy for my own feelings towards Miller and Liefeld.

So, essentially he just disagreed with you? No, that doesn't make someone a jerk. I think we can call this thesis disproven. :)

Was this a conversation between you two, or were you expecting him to have "empathy for your feelings" without knowing what they are?

Am I the only one who thinks that the quality of the posters here has gone like extremely downhill? People asking stuff that is just inane, people who previously seemed somewhat normal going into weird or obsessive phases suddenly or just really really bad posters who would be shown the door previously now sticking around long-term?

......I just hope that I'm not thought of as any of those things.
But yeah, this is something that's been on my mind for a while. But it's probably just kids that don't know any better, rather than people intentionally trolling or something.

I think a lot of the old crew grew moved on for various reasons, the place is certainly less busy and that means less interesting discussions. But I think the answer to that is to be more welcoming and patient, not openly complaining about how much this place sucks and the new members are of low quality (which becomes a self-reinforcing statement). An elitist attitude that makes new member with something interesting to say, like the Talon, who is awesome BTW, feel unwelcome is the worst thing to attract new blood. Most members make a few mistakes, are a little bit annoying when they first start posting on a board, but eventually a lot of them develop into really good members.

I will admit that a lot of people I liked talking to on the board have moved on, and I don't nearly post as much. That and I really don't see many conversations I find interesting anymore. I don't really have time to watch movies, I barely watch anime anymore, I've basically ignored Toonami lately, I already post on a music board with a more focused theme... really the only place I pay attention to anymore is the video game board, and the occasional Adventure Time/Regular Show talkback.

I wouldn't say the new members are bad. I was new on the internet once, and over time I learned the most effective ways to start a topic and post and etc. Patience and guidance with newer people are key.

But the forum just seems much less lively than it used to be. Our April Fool's Days keep getting less exciting every year.

April Fool's Day on this site has always been insufferable and I didn't think anything could top last year, but this year sure did. Subtley is clearly not understood by nearly everyone who posted on that day in any of those related topics.

We have the report button for a reason, people. Now, I will admit that I have been slightly less active, but I have also moved to the other side of the world where I am 12 hours ahead of the majority of posters. But if you take the time to report problematic posts, one of us will get the email and respond if we see fit. Backseat moderation is still against the rules.

Now I think I need to say this publicly: while a good number of the users who frequent the Cafe are older and have been out in the real world, many people of all ages come to this board including teenagers. Did you all think the same way as a teen that you do today?

To reiterate and to add on to what Defunctzombie said, if you see problem posts - use the "Report A Posts" button. If you have a problem with the managing of the forums - PM a moderator, or posts your comments on the Feedback & Suggestions forum. This is not the thread for such complaints.

Also: A general reminder for this thread - while "Am I the only one who thinks..." is often a thread for us to gripe about something, it doesn't exist to take swipes at posts or posting styles of your fellow Toonzone forum members. Don't use this thread to post flamebait or to be a troll.

Am I the only one who's incredibly creeped out by Google Glass? Specifically, I'm talking about the ability to take pictures/videos without having to press a button. This has such a potential for abuse it's not even funny.

Beyond that, though, I question why we need to have the equivalent of a computer on our face 24/7. I can remember a time when we got along just fine without this sort of thing. We've become so dependent on constant information that we freak out if we don't have it on hand (or in this case, head) 24/7.

Moreover, you have to talk to your Google Glasses. I can just picture people walking down the street, talking to themselves. The future is looking bright.

Am I the only one who thinks shows like The Vampire Diaries and such aren't worth watching?

Has anyone else besides me had a problem with wearing glasses because they find them to be generally uncomfortable to wear indefinitely?

I think it was 1998 when I tried wearing some shades while driving. I got a headache from wearing them. So I never wore those again.

I was prescribed glasses back in 2009. I wouldn't necessarily have to wear them all the time, but they're mainly for driving. Especially at night. There have been times where I tried wearing them for a long time, but I couldn't wear them indefinitely because I'd end up getting a headache from the nose pads pressing against my nose if I'm wearing them long enough. I even ended up getting a headache after wearing them for a drive that lasted about an hour. I'd even try wearing them while doing other things such as watching TV, but I still can't keep them on.

I've seen movies in 3D at the theaters, and they provide glasses for you to wear. Those don't have nose pads, and I can't even keep those on indefinitely, because they also end up irritating the bridge of my nose. So what I'd do is remove them when they start to irritate me, and then put them back on when my nose feels better. Then the cycle would repeat. That's kind of how it is with my prescription glasses as well. If I'm wearing them while driving, and they start to irritate me, I'll wait until I come to a red light to take them off, and then put them back on when the light turns green. I'll even take them off if I get caught in a traffic jam.

I have to renew my drivers license soon. I don't know when my state's DMV started doing this (or if any other states are doing this), but they require us to have eye exams to renew our license now. I saw an opthamologist over the weekend and took the eye exam form with me that the DMV mailed out to me. There's a part of the form that asks if corrective lenses were worn to achieve a Snellen test score of 20/40 with one or both eyes. The opthamologist checked "yes" on the form. Now that I've gotten the form filled out, I went to use the information to renew it online. Since "yes" was checked off, it said that there will be a restriction put on my new license which would require me to wear glasses every time I drive. I don't have a problem wearing glasses to drive, but I'm just worried that I'll be trying for a damn long time to find a good pair of glasses that I can wear indefinitely without my nerves getting irritated somehow. Until then though, I guess I'll just put up with my current pair of glasses for as long as I can. God forbid I get pulled over for some reason, but if it happens when I'm not wearing my glasses, I guess I can probably just whip them out and put them on for when a cop comes to my car and sees me.

Assuming that you've checked with your eye doctor to make sure there isn't something terribly wrong with how your glasses are made and sized, you get desensitized to the irritation after a while. It's bothering you more than it should because you haven't given yourself time to get acclimated (because you make a point of wearing them as little as possible) and you're consciously focusing on it. If you just make a point of wearing them for long periods while doing other things you'll forget they are there. If your eye doctor says you need to wear your glasses to drive, then you need to wear them to drive for your safety and the safety of others. What I would suggest is just wearing them all day for a week, even when you aren't driving. That should be enough time to get used to the feeling.

You may want to see a dermatologist, it sounds like that irritation may be due to a skin reactive-allergy of some sort.

Also, contacts could help with the peepers instead of glasses.

He doesn't describe it as an itch, though. He's just annoyed by the pressure of the pads sitting on his nose. I've worn glasses for 25 years, and I can tell you that pressure can be annoying. Thinking about it, though, if the very light pressure from the nose pads hurts you, you may have an untreated sinus or nasal problem.

I'm planning to see another opthamologist since I have to get tested for something else, and I'm also going to bring up the issue with the glasses. The points you bring up are good, but I thought I could just get away with just using them for driving. There are other people who wear glasses, but it seems to be only when they do something specific, like reading, or driving. They could be wearing contacts for all I know though.

Just out of curiosity, I'd like to see what my results would be if I took the Snellen eye chart test without glasses. When I had my appointment, I took the test with the glasses on, just to get the best results.

I thought of using contacts, and thought they might be better, but I'm going to discuss that with the eye doctor when I see one again.

Since you too say the pressure can be annoying, what exactly was it like for you at first? Was your situation the same as mine? What you told me to try is what you also tried to get over the issue, yes?

Anyway, I've had sinus headaches, so you might have a point about sinus problems. I've even considered seeing a neurologist. I find that I can also get headaches from certain strong scents (like strong perfume or strong cologne, and that's why I never wear cologne), not eating breakfast soon enough, or not getting enough sleep at night before waking up in the morning.

I've been wearing glasses since about 1995. I originally only needed to wear them to see the board in school, and later for driving. But I got tired of constantly putting them on and taking them off, making sure they were safe and secure when I wasn't wearing them, etc., that I just started wearing them full time. I got use to them pretty quick, and they don't bother me. I've never found them uncomfortable to wear, but then I've always chosen small frames. I could never wear contacts. I don't even like putting eye drops in my eyes, so I can't imagine actually touching them in order to put something on them. My brother wears contacts, but it was a long transitional period for him before he was finally able to adjust to both putting them on and wearing them.

I do need a new pair of glasses, though. My current ones I've had since about 2002. I believe you're supposed to have a new exam every couple of years, but it always got put off.

Personally, my eyes are so bad I have to wear mine all day to function. When I started wearing them as a kid it took a while to adjust to the feeling, but the pressure never gave me headaches. Getting used to a changed prescription sometimes does.

It should've ran for as many seasons and episodes as its post-predecessor Uncle Grandpa did.
I wish Imgur wasn't allowed on this forum until the time is right for a return since it's been unavailable in the UK since last September, so I don't see why people use links from the site for here when it's no longer available in the UK and I'm really angry that their parent company made this stupid decision.
Happy 45th anniversary, MTV.
MeTV Toons is a great channel when it comes to classic cartoons, but we know it can be way better. The Duck4Real (me!) elaborates on this in his latest YouTube vlog. Watch it!
