If Amazon ever wanted to start a movie theatre division, and would most likely do in the future, here’s how I would imagine what the chain would be like:
- The cinema chain would exhibit all the movies you would find at places like AMC, as well as indie/art house films, and Amazon Studios-distributed films.
- There would be a mix of newly-built locations, theatres acquired from other cinema chains, and closed theatres acquired and reopened by Amazon, especially all the Pacific/Arclight locations.
- There would be locations all over the world, like the USA, Canada, France, the UK, Australia, etc.
- Seats at locations would come in standard and recliner varieties.
- On-screen advertising for Amazon Cinemas would be provided by National CineMedia in America, Digital Cinema Media in the UK, and Val Morgan in Australia.
- Unlike most cinema chains, the food served at Amazon Cinemas would be organic foods provided by Whole Foods Market. In fact, no Coca-Cola or Pepsi beverages.
- Some locations would be a part of a retail/entertainment complex concept that would consist of an Amazon Books store, a Whole Foods market, and an Amazon Cinema.
- Amazon Prime members would be eligible for cinema credits that would allow them to see a movie at an Amazon Cinema at no extra cost. They would even get a discount on food and drinks.
