Any Marvel fans around...?

Tell me that Marvel zombies exist on Toon Zone. Please!

I read books from a variety of publishers, but Marvel by far publishes the best comics around. Captain Marvel, Incredible Hulk, Daredevil, these are just three examples of modern comic book masterpieces. I’m currently faced with the difficult decision of cutting back on my weekly comic spending, due to my inability to read everything I buy. I still have a few random books from last summer that I haven’t gotten to yet! If and when I do cut back, my DC titles are the first to go. Aside from Legion, there’s really nothing at DC worth reading, IMO.

I suppose this thread is going to be locked due to the earlier one Clayface just mentioned, but those are my thoughts regardless.

Howdy,

I consider myself a Good Comic Zombie. The publisher of the book is of far less importance to me than the quality of the book itself. At the moment, this skews very heavily towards Marvel (I think the only DC book I buy regularly is Power Company and the JLA trades, with the odd issue of the "Adventures" comics), but that can change at the drop of a hat (and, based on some of the stuff coming out of DC this year, probably will).

I'm a BIG Marvel fan - born and raised on the adventures of Spider-Man, X-Men and Wolverine. In recent times I have started reading more and more DC books but my loyalty will always remain with Marvel - no matter how many stupid decisions they make.

I read DC from time to time myself, mostly the Bat-titles, but Marvel's the one I stick by. Though <I>Ruse</I> from CrossGen is good stuff too.

I'm a bit of a Marvel fan myself. Batman will always be the big hero to me, but Marvel does contain some intruiging characters and some great storylines. I'm a big fan of their more older "classic" stuff, I suppose you could say.

I was a Marvel zombie as a youngster...now I only read a handful of Marvel titles...well 3 currently...ASM, Thor and Avengers. As for why, I'm not sure...probably its NuMarvels focus on the Ultimate line which does _nothing_ for me. Hopefully Marvel will do some things that will get me buying more of their stuff.

DC on the other hand are doing alot of things right. At the start of 2002 all I was reading was JLA. Now I'm reading JLA, JSA, Aquaman, Batman, Detective, BOP and the lamentable Supergirl.

Crossgen looks to be going from strength to strength too...with me (probably) adding Brath, Solus and Chimera in 2003 to Sojourn, Scion, Ruse and Way of the Rat.

I'm slowly building up to getting Marvel again (I read X-men and Spiderman titles). Maybe if this Daredevil movie is really good, I'll start reading his title(s).

I am a huge fan of Superman, Batman and the Justice League, but I loved Marvel comics of the 70's and 80's.

When you had Roger Stern as the writer and John Romita Jr as the artist, The Amazing Spider-Man was the greatest comic I have ever read. Check out issues #229-230 where Spider-Man battled Juggernaut to see what I am talking about.

Also, the X-Men was head and shoulders above any comic book with Chris Claremont (writer) and Romita Jr/Dan Green (artists). From issue #175 to 206, there wasn't a better stretch for any comic series.

I am not a huge fan of the Modern Age. I am more of a Silver Age kind of guy.

Can anyone recommend any titles that have a Silver Age kind of feel?

I helped Marvel a little bit and got Spider-man: Return of the Green Goblin on DVD.

... the likelihood of another sub-board appearing on Toon Zone is pretty slim.

Though, I'd love a Marvel forum. THAT'D be the place to hang out, booyeah!
