The oringinal pilot was aired as part of Cartoon Cartoon Summer in 2000. It was part of a contest where you got to vote.

I started off wondering if this thread would be about "What would Billy and Mandy be like when they turn 18 years old?"

Technically, it was the pilot episode of "Grim and Evil" that aired on June 9th, 2000 (not "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy", which is what it became in 2003, without the "Evil Con Carne" segments). The "Grim & Evil" series started airing continuously on August 24th, 2001 (I remember that premiere!).

I personally tend to go by the start of the series airing - for example, "Powerpuff Girls" aired as a "What a Cartoon!" animated short on Cartoon Network back in 1995/1996, but I go by when the series started airing - November 18th, 1998. So yes, I will consider "Powerpuff Girls" to be 20 years old this November, 2018.

IMO Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy started in 2001 when it was on "Grim & Evil". It's just that the show's prime was throughout the mid 00's during the City Era when it was already its own separate show.

Ah, see, now that's relevant: The actual show "Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" is 15 years old this week if you go by the 2003 date. But yes, I guess "Billy and Mandy" the characters are now 18 years old.

That's how I see it as well. Kinda like how Dexter's Lab started in 1996, but I think it was at the height of it's popularity around 1999/2000....

I knew that. But those were more or less prototype characters. I'm talking about the Cartoon Network characters.
