Butch Hartman developing new SVOD service Oaxis

The Asylum produces bad movies.

Most of The Asylum’s movies cost about $500,000

A streaming service needs hundreds of good movies.

Therefor one cannot start a streaming service for $250,000.

What Butch Hartman does not understand is that there are already much better streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max and Paramount+ for anyone to watch TV shows or movies.

And what's even more baffling is that there are already services like Netflix Kids that can keep kids away from content that's deemed to be inappropriate. As for the whole reconnecting families shtick, I think making shows and films with the goal of appealing to family groups and not being actually good, won't help Oaxis compete with any of the mainstream services.

its make me wonder why butch Hartman didn't just join a another network like Cartoon Network or disney or a studio like dreamworks or Sony Pictures Animation instead of starting a streaming service

He did make an animated show based on PocketWatch's Hobby Kids TV. But yeah, other than than, he's been *cough* working *cough* (allergies :p) on his streaming service. He also previously announced three new animated series he would make for Oaxis, but I think we will never get to see em, at least as proper shows with good animation.

Butch Hartman just had no idea what it takes for a streaming service to become a big hit.

Kickstarter is always a mistake to use to create something.

New sizzle reel.

Wow, Butch Hartman must've been out of touch in recent years, huh?

Seriously, this guy needs a reality check and stop putting himself on a high pedestal. Otherwise, it's gonna bite you in the butt later.

That's all I'm gonna say.

If I were doing Oaxis, I would start out with a mix of Noog content, cheaply licensed content available on multiple services both secular(Nelvana stuff is on a lot of services) and Christian(VeggieTales is on multiple Christian services), and even some public domain stuff, and make it FREE to start out, maybe with ads. I would then work my way up to more original content and maybe some higher-name acquisitions.

Even then, you’d need a million-dollar marketing budget just to get folks to try it. :(

That clip of the game show during the sizzle reel looked incredibly cheap. It looked like they filmed it in someone's living room. Most of the animated content in the trailer also looked pretty cheap, but given that they are seemingly just recycled stuff Butch had for YouTube before, that makes a bit more sense. Given how cheap everything looked, I'd be even more surprised if Oaxis gets off the ground. I just don't know if he could attract enough people to back it up on Kickstarter and especially get more business investors involved. Not only he is going to need a lot of money, but he'll need to get something more than cheap animation and shows that were already on YouTube before to really drive people to the site. It doesn't seem profitable based on what they've shown.

Unsurprisingly, Butch still has a massive ego too. He has made some pretty bad decisions from misleading people about what his streaming service would be, refusing to pay an artist for their work and tracing other people's work for his own commissions. It isn't the worst kind of stuff a person can do, but it is still pretty bad and it's made worse by how he doesn't want to take any responsibility.

Hartman needs to give it up at this point. He's well past his prime, and he keeps digging up a rabbit hole of drama and controversy. Too bad his ego makes it impossible to admit defeat. It's sad to see because I enjoyed Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom and even T.U.F.F Puppy growing up. He should just apologize and give people there money back.

Is there any proof of Butch tracing other people's work? Did he really do this?
I'm pretty sure that there have been a couple of confirmed cases where he did do that, such as tracing a fan artist's drawing of Mikasa from Attack on Titan for one of his commissions. This article covers the highlights of that accusation: 'Fairly Odd Parents' creator accused of plagiarizing from Japanese Twitter artist for commissions

It's still pretty tame compared to other controversies from within the animation industry, but it still doesn't really put Butch in the best light either.

I would say "Well, maybe if he came out and apologized, and gave everyone a refund, then he might get some forgiveness.", but he has such a huge ego. I doubt he would apologize unless something really bad happened to him.

Lol. Oaxis is an absolute disaster in the making. I mean, it's been over three years since the Kickstarter was launched and there's absolutely zero original content for Oaxis announced as of now - minus a "Kids’ Art Show" that started production in 2019, and maybe a few live-action productions (Big Blue Book, Sofa Sponge and Question Time namely). There's also a 2020 short film titled Faithfully that was featured in early hidden previews of the site's infrastructure; I will take a guess and say it's a Christian film :p.

The rest is stuff that is either heavily inspired from YouTube and Noog Network productions (f.e. clips of Butch Hartman with a poorly-animated superhero, on a studio where he films a lot of his YouTube videos, and a slightly altered version of the Imaginathan animation Butch made for Noog) or actual original productions made for YouTube channels and Noog.

I don't even know if Big Blue Book, Question Time, Sofa Sponge, these hybrid clips with the animated superhero etc. were made for Oaxis - most likely not. Though looking at the newsletters, there are mentions on an "Oaxis gameshow". Maybe it's either Sofa Sponges or Question Time.

Oh, and also, there are two things in common with almost all of these productions that were featured on the site's infrastructure (minus Faithfully?) and the recent sizzle reel; they are cheap and short-form. Much like Quibi, Oaxis will be criticized for being subscription-based since free platforms like YouTube have better content. As for its life-span, I highly bet it will have shut-down (or it will be unedr-operating) in like, 2 years or less.

Butch in general has been criticized for being a narcissist and overambitious, and judging by the Mad Hustle podcast Pieguy commented on and the videos on YouTube he's been uploading, which are the same stuff again and again, I don't think he's gonna change for the better.....

And speaking of Butch, there's his "mentor", conservative TV evangelist Andrew Wommack, who was one of the speakers of a recent Truth & Liberty Conference event who urged Christians to must fight against “ungodliness”..

Anyway, uh, yeah, Oaxis will crash and burn, if it hasn't already.
