C&C - Food Wars! - Season 2 Talkback

Last minute emotional back story, meaning Akira pretty much had to win.

Well, I guess if Soma did win, the series may as well be over now.

HOW DOES LOSING TASTE WONDER BOY!?!?
NOT SO HIGH AND MIGHTY ARE WE?!
OUR GOD OF COOKING SUDDENLY FEELING A BIT MORTAL?

If everything is your specialty, then nothing is.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Meat-Meat loves Soma, we get it.

DUDE, LET'S HAVE A COOKING CONTEST, BROS!

No rest for the insufferable, it seems.

Times are a little tough around the world these days, but we all still gotta eat, right? And there's still plenty of recipes from Food Wars, including the pacific saury-themed dishes from the Autmn Ealection finals.

Going by order of who presented first, there Ryo Kurokiba's Autumn Pacific Saury Cartoccio:

INGREDIENTS: (2 servings)
  • 1 small handful of parsley and thyme
  • 80g butter
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 pacific saury
  • shrimps, clams, mussels, cherry tomato, mushroom and lemon

Next, is Akira Hayama's Scorched Pacific Saury Cartoccio:

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 pacific saury
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • allspice

And finally, Soma Yukihira's Ojiya-Style Pacific Saury Takikomi Gohan:

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 pacific saury
  • 2 cups rice
  • 2 cups water (adjust accordingly)
  • 100g mushrooms
  • Half a carrot diced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp sake
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dashi granules
  • small handful of spring onions
  • 1-2 tbsp crispy sour plums
  • 2 cups soymilk
  • 1/4 cup cheese (Parmesan)
  • 1/2 tbsp white miso

This goes without saying, but make sure to wash your hands thoroughly while humming the "Spice" song, especially before cooking and eating meals.

Eh, they pretty much told us Akira was going to win with they way they kept emphasizing his godly smell ability every time he was in a scene. Happy to see Soma took it in stride and it's clear what goal he needs to achieve next.

Thanks for being the buzz kill, Jun, lol, and introducing the next stage of torture at the academy. But this likely means some will be working for the graduates we've seen on the show this arc and previously. Could be fun.

As for Megumi, she’s reduced to being a cheerleader for Soma.

Pretty much what Goku and Vegeta have to done to the rest of the Dragon Ball cast for a very long time until the universal tournament.

I mean she made it past the qualifying round of this tournament. Considering how she was a borderline flunk out at the start of the school year, she's managed to turn things around thanks to Soma's help. And she's discovering her own identity and specialty as a chef.

Not if she ends up losing to her opponents.

Not if she ends up losing to her opponents.

She beat the experienced veteran in the qualifying rounds who looked down on her beforehand. Making it to the quarterfinals for the Autumn Selections was a pretty monumental feet considering all the other experienced chefs in her dorm who took part in the Selection and didn't even make it that far. She and Soma were the only ones in their dorm who made it past the qualifiers.

So...erroneous.

Episode: The Stagiarie

Previously on Food Wars: Wonder boy gets taken down a peg.

Really though, I just want Megumi to accomplish something.

Last time: The king of cooking has no clothes on. ...which come to think of it wouldn't really stand out that much in this school.

So it's much like the work studies in My Hero Academia.

So just like everything else in this school, it's "one-strike-you're-out."

I was expecting Tsunderina, but her flunky?

"That means I'll get exposure to the outside world!"

Uh...maybe not the best time to do that, Soma.

He's paired up with Erina?! Oh, it's Hisoka. I wonder what'll come of this.

And yet, there was no S descriptor for this episode. Wasn't much, but still.

Welcome to the most successful period in the history of this restaurant.

"Don't talk to me while I'm changing! And get that camera out of here!"

Yes, this restaurant's busy, but at least the trains run on time.

It's like the anchovy invasion from the first episode of Spongebob.

Well, I mean, at least it's good for business.

Erina and Megumi. Huh, now there's an interesting combo.

Don't wipe your tears with your hands. It's not hygienic.

Every scene with Megumi leaves me more and more convinced that she's too good for this school.

Ah yes, the coveted Michelin Star. Though I'm still not sure why people care what the Michelin Man thinks is good food.

"Ahh, that's one of my mother's favorite dishes. When it's made properly."

Who died and made you Gordon Ramsay?

Microsoft Excel, for all your restaurant financing needs.

Time for the kids to show you how to do everything.

As someone who's Portuguese, it just bugs me again that we lost. I wanted Portugal to win this time because this is Ronaldo's last, but no, we think Ronaldo has devolved significantly, and we lost against Spain.
