"Cyborg 009: Nemesis" News Thread

Not a huge fan of the CG, but it looks better than Call of Justice. Also, I really want to see how the rest of the team looks in this 'prettier', more modern style. Joe looks just a tad bit too delicate for me, and I'm sort of worried how bland everyone else will look being stripped of their traditional manga designs. The big thing though will be the story. I want a Cyborg 009 series that goes back to focusing on the characters and their motivations to fight rather than the powerful and shadowy, but ultimately hollow threats seen in the projects directed by Kenji Kamiyama. I'm hoping we get more info by March so that I can get a better feel on if this will be worth watching.

"Ishinomori Production Inc. has dropped the first footage for the newest adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori’s legendary Cyborg 009 franchise. The twenty second trailer includes a tease of the animation style and protagonist Joe Shimamura/Cyborg 009’s new character design. Also provided was a projected release date.

In the brief trailer we see Joe grimly confront an unseen threat. He then engages his ‘Acceleration Mode’, a superpower that allows him to move at speeds exceeding Mach 5. It ends with a promise that the new series will stream sometime in 2026.

Also revealed was the new series theme song. It is a remake of “Taga Tame ni” (For Whom) sung by Kyoko of the rock band Barbee Boys. Originally performed by the late singer Ken Narita and Koorogi ’73 for the 1979 animated series, the lyrics for this song were personally written by series creator Shotaro Ishinomori."
