DBZ Kai and New Voltron Headed to Nicktoons

Dang. First Naruto Shippuden goes to Disney XD and now this.

Cartoon Network just doesn't care anymore, does it?

Nah, they care. But, only for the REAL important things.

Which include Bakugan and its mercha...I mean excellent plot and well written characters. ;)

EDIT: Oh, REAL. I see what you did there.

Seriously, besides some blood cuts, everything will probably be left as is. Like Shippuden on XD, it's plot and music and everything is all intact and I expect the same for Kai.

I'm talking about-Never mind.

Anyways, but yeah. The blood and some language will be cut and or change, but in all it will be DBKai.

To CNs defense DBZ is a series that has been re-run to death and DBK is really not that much different.

So has Tom & Jerry and the various Scooby cartoons, but they still air to this day.

This is surprising and cool. I'll be able to see the new dub, yay!

I can't see DBZ not being censored though. With CN's teen-toon push since '08, there might have been a chance for an evening slot with a TV-PG rating, but I've never seen anything beyond TV-Y7 on Nicktoons since they canned 6Teen back in '06. I'm sure we won't get 'Next Dimension', but blood? Blasts going right through a midsection? Hell? I just do not see that flying. Not that I mind: it's for kids, not guys pushing 30, like me.

Actually Nickelodeon seems more lenient on profanity than CN. In the past they allowed their shows to use the word "crap" with out any edits to episodes in syndication, where as CN won't even allow it to be said on their TV-PG rated programing and removed the word from a syndicated Dexter's Laboratory episode. Unless you mean Hell as in the place Goku ends up after falling of Serpent Road, which those episodes are filler that were already removed.

About time that this got airtime. Good thing I get Nicktoons so I won't have to miss out. I agree with anyone who says CN missed out big time.

Dang, another Voltron? Frankly, the 3D was probably the least of the Third Dimension's problems. No, I'd blame it more on simply not knowing how the genre works. The enemy designs, the addition of a red tape robot, the whole "Stealth Voltron" thing...

wow so, the two most popular anime in America went to CN's top competition. Nice CN:p

Nicktoons huh? A little out of my range, but good for Funi who would probably settle for any kind of TV deal at this point.

I think we'll just have to wait and see how these shows do on this network before declaring a rebirth or return of anime's popularity on TV. Remember how the same thing was said for Naruto Shipudden?

Which, honestly, I continually forgets airs because...it doesn't seem to have done a single thing. We'd be the exact same position we are now if Naruto Shippûden was not on TV.

Woah! Did not expect this.

Good to see that Nicktoons is preparing action content for the day all their Marvel stuff eventually leaves for Disney XD.

You know, if someone had told me 2 years ago that when Dragon Ball Kai made it's U.S. debut, that it would be on Nicktoons, I would have said that they were crazy.

Apart from this, the new Voltron series and the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series coming next year, it would seem that Nicktoons is on the verge of becoming the new "it" action channel.

This will also be the 1st time that a real anime series will be airing on a Nick channel, aside from the more "kiddyfied" anime fare that's aired on Nick Jr.

OK, I did not expect a new Voltron series, so that really came out of nowhere.

Did World Events get the okay from Toei, considering the legal disputes over production rights? Voltron: The Third Dimension got them in trouble, as did the announcement to produce a movie.

Either way, although I watch Nicktoons, I'm not looking forward to this new series. Considering there are anime robot shows superior to even Voltron's sources (Golion and Dairugger XV).

Well DBZ Kai on Nicktoons is... a surprise to be sure.

GAH! Why it and not SGT Frog and One Piece too? Hopefully it opens the door to those great shows as well. Nicktoons could use more content.

CN you've failed at anime for quite a while now but not getting DBZ Kai is just... wow. You are forgiven if you start playing One Piece again.

New Voltron huh? I hope it's 2D and not 3D but a mix might be alright.

Nicktoons is building up their action selection along with TMNT (well they probably lose Marvel toons sooner rather than later) and ironically the pick-up of DBZ Kai makes them closer to my concept of a Nick action channel I recently posted in the now closed "make your own fantasy network".

The real shame is NONE of these shows are going on Nick proper.

Wait, a second. Is this airing at the Nicktoons channel or Nick itself?

DBZ Kai, Voltron and 4kids TMNT are going to Nicktoons Network "this season" starting with DBZ Kai in May. Expect TMNT in Fall when 4kids loses the rights. Voltron... probably Fall as well.

Well they still have those Marvel shows for a bit longer so they've got quite a few action shows as for "this season".

Avatar, Wolverine and the X-Men, Fantastic Four: WGS, The Invincible Iron Man, Three Delievery, Speed Racer: TNG, Danny Phantom (it counts as does My Life as a Teenage Robot), New Voltron, 4kids TMNT and DBZ Kai.

Avatar, TMNT and DBZ being some of the best action cartoons ever made... DXD and even CN still has more but I'm much more interested in watching the action cartoons on Nicktoons since I've seen everything on DXD sans some Shippuden and the upcoming Avengers and only Batman of the current CN action slate interests me until Rex and Titan at any rate.

Well played Nicktoons.

Now would somebody PLEASE get One Piece already?

Nicktoons Network? ...shucks, I still have to order that one.

Now would somebody PLEASE get One Piece already?
Seriously.

it would seem that Nicktoons is on the verge of becoming the new "it" action channel.

We'll see. Disney XD has the entire Marvel library at its disposal. But, then again, that's just one genre. Nicktoons looks like it wants to mix it up a bit with superhero shows, anime, and whatever else they decide to air.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
