Disney bought 21st Century Fox for $71.3 billion in stock

Maybe WarnerMedia can acquire Fox Sports in Mexico and Brazil
Please stop. Enough with the corporate shilling. That's nearly every post you make.
"Maybe X should buy Y." Knock it off. It's gotten old.
Yeah, sorry, but I have to agree...

Now that FX is part of Disney, will new animated FX production threads go in the Disney/Pixar Forum or the General Animation Forum?

FXX would probably handle adult animation for FX Networks since most adult cartoons Disney owns are comedies and FXX is a comedy network.

Yeah that's what Iger is planning. Having adult content under FX and Hulu.

Fox aired this promo earlier during Empire to signal its transition from TCF, to the Fox Corporation.

I think buying Fox may be Disney's best move since buying ABC. In between those two they made smaller purchases like Fox Family, Marvel and Lucasfilm. But those pale in comparison to Fox and ABC

Disney now owns Disney-ABC Domestic Television and 20th Television, both handle distribution of the company’s programming. I wonder if the latter will be folded into the former. Does 20th Television handle international distribution? Will Disney handle that now? Are their contracts in place that would keep them from folding?
It’ll be interesting to see what happens. These kind of redundancies is what will lead to certain divisions closing and jobs loss.

I wonder if we will see Dark Phoenix and Spies and Disguise heavily promoted on Disney Channels, like Disney has done with their other family-friendly(ish) titles

There's an old Simpsons joke (from Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo) where, in the first few minutes, Homer invested in "something called News Corp", from now on it doesn't make any sense, even Lisa's fourth-wall response that it was FOX's owner.

Come to think of it that shortly afterwards they did the whole "TCF being a division of Disney" that was another one of those Simpsons predictions.

It would be interesting. I think the last Fox Marvel movie I saw promoted by Disney was Fant4stic but I don't think I've ever seen any X-Men promotion. I've joked, before that they were shut out once they started throwing f bombs in every movie, and aiming more at adults, but doing it now would only affect themselves. Fox themselves didn't stop promoting at, with TV spots for Apocalypse, Fant4stic and DOFP running on Nick and Cartoon Network.

Blue Sky movies definitely need to be more promoted, especially when they already run promotion from family movies they don't own. They'll probably start doing the movie thing where they get some Disney kids talking to a star or an expert about how the thing in the movie would work in real life.

Same and Disney already has a news channel of their own, which is ABC News Live.
I didnt even know a live feed existed. ABC and CBS don’t have cable news channels, but they both have livestreams. That’s pretty good.

Layoffs from marketing and distribution is already underway.

One thing is certain. I'm glad Disney didn't buy Fox News.

That was the last thing Disney needed to buy.
Disney did have an ABC News Now channel on selected ABC stations, though it switched to cable in 2009 in favor of the Live Well Network on ABC O&Os. It was later watered down as a web service until it resumed as ABC News Live.

Fox 2000 is shuttering with Elizabeth Gabler's status as unknown (However, Deadline has said they don't know if she'll stay as producer so she could end up being like Amy Pascal at Sony).
I think they're consolidating Fox 2000 and 20th Century Fox together as the latter does do adaptations also does do book adaptations like The Darkest Minds, The Maze Runner, Die Hard, Night at the Museum, etc. I'm just wondering if Chipmunks and Wimpy Kid (any more films for the latter in the future since they're making an animated series for it) are moving to 20th Century Fox also at the moment. I don't think the 2017 reboot was necessary.

Just over a day in, and we already have our first casualty of this merger. I feel like this is only the beginning, and it's probably going to get worse from here. I mean, yeah, Avengers vs. X-Men sounds awesome, but what will it ultimately cost?
