"Once Again, Disney+ Will Premiere Three Exclusive Simpsons Episodes This Summer"

"While the Fox network is still the main place to catch television cartoon staples like The Simpsons, they’re only on rent these days. The shows are no longer owned by the network that broadcasts them; The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers and American Dad are all now property of The Walt Disney Company. Because of this, if Fox only orders 15 episodes per season, it’s now kosher for additional episodes to debut somewhere else…like a place Disney owns.

The practice started last year with Family Guy holiday specials on Hulu and “exclusive” Simpsons episodes on Disney+. Looks like it was successful enough to continue: during their hiatus on Fox, three new Simpsons episodes will premiere on Disney+ over the summer. Just like the previous three, these will be of various lengths that are impossible on commercial television, with one running an hour.

If the new Simpsons episodes have a theme, it appears to be “alternate versions of Homer.” All three involve imaginary stories and all are focused on the balding family patriarch."
