One of Santa Claus's elf learns he is a human that stowed away to the north pole. He returns home after discovering his real dad is on the naughty list.
It's an exact remake of the hit movie Elf, except no Newhart and it is completely different plus original songs.

Tuesday December 16 8:00PM ET (look, it's on now!)

The Cavalcade of Stars
Jim Parsons as Buddy the human elf
Mark Hamill as Walter
Kate Micucci as Jovie
Ed Asner as The Real Santa!
Rachael MacFarlane as Emily
Gilbert Gottfried as Mr. Greenway
Jay Leno as the Fake Santa
Matt Lauer as The Sea Serpent?

*cough*

I bet NBC regrets dropping the broadcasting rights to Rudolph so much, they're trying to make another Rankin Bass style special to compete with the CBS ratings for the 50th Rudolph anniversary. Wonder if General Electric will sponsor this one too.

And NBC is advertising the Elf special like it will go down as a timeless Christmas special (see 0:18).

Now that's classic.

Mark Hamill was the Dad? How did I not realize this?

Well, if my avatar wasn't any indication, I'm a huge fan of the original Elf. I still believe it is one of the funniest Christmas movies ever made, so learning about the new special made me rather excited. And I was entertained throughout. It definitely doesn't have the charm or comedy the first one had, but it is only 45 minutes, so that's a bit unfair. My only other issues are the songs, while not the worst, were either annoying or bland to listen to, and the colors for the background characters. Why are they all blue? Is there some sort of symbolism, or...?

Sheldon Cooper leaving his adopted father Carl to search for his real father Luke Skywalker and his wife Hailey Smith while picking a fight with Jay Leno?

I enjoyed picking out the voices, if nothing else.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
