Fate of The Roger Rabbit franchise after Disney lost the rights?

Some of you might have heard the rights to Roger Rabbit are now giving to the original author of the book based on the movie. Yet we got an announcement of a Jessica Rabbit spin-off shortly after news of the aforementioned rights thing. You think we'll hear more for this franchise after the author was giving the rights back?

I'm anxious about them doing anything more with the franchise after how perfect the original movie was...

I think it would be neat if Gary K. Wolf made a deal with Steven Speilberg to make more Roger Rabbit shorts.
Sure, Disney wouldn't be making them, but Speilberg has the financial backing to make quality animation whenever he so chooses.

Just to be brief, Touchstone Pictures worked on the Roger Rabbit movie, and the first two short films, while Walt Disney Pictures did the third short. Buena Vista distributed all of them.

And Gary Wolf has said that he is still on good terms with Disney. So, if Wolf, Disney and Spielberg/Amblin all (co-)own pieces of the Roger Rabbit franchise, it shouldn't be too hard for them to all sign off on new projects if they have to.
