Season Finale of Futurama Review

Man, this Futurama was just GREAT!

It featured the original Star Trek getting banned from Earth because all the trekkies turned it into an actual religion. All the tapes of the show was sent to some desolate planet and people were barred from even saying "Star Trek" anymore. Then all the original cast members (except for Leonard Nimoy) left Earth to go to the desolate planet.

This episode was so funny. The was no best part, but there were alot of funny segments though:

-The whole Welshy thing was funny. Welshy replaced Scotty.

-The fight scene between Leela and William Shatner (Capt. Kirk on ST) was awesome and the making out scene between them afterwards was an eye opener

-When George Takei (Sulu on ST) was talking with Bender about self destruct codes and he accidentally said Bender's self destruct code. That was funny when Bender's head completely exploded.

-The beginning when Fry was recalling his part of the story to Zapp Brannigan during the trial. I seriously thought Fry was crippled but then he comes out of the thing all healthy. I was shocked!

-The part when Nichelle (Lt. Uhura (sp?) on ST) was dong her trademark fan dance from the show.

-Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock on ST) tried to do the Vulcan Death Grip on Bender and Bender just knocked him out.

-When that green cloud (I forgot his name) kept shocking Welshy to death everytime Fry would prove more knowledgable (sp?) than him.

There were alot of things that were funny, but there were alot of things that they didn't touch upon from ST. Like DeForrest Kelley (Dr. McCoy from ST). He didn't really have a part in the episode. And William Shatner's "speech problem", if they made fun of that, then it would've been golden.

Post your reviews on this episode...and yes, this was the season finale of Futurama.

Yes, that episode was great. I'm really going to miss that show when it goes off the air. Personally, I hope that Cartoon Network buys the whole "Futurama" library and and shows it on Adult Swim, but that's not going to happen anytime soon I suspect. Oh well. At least we have one more season left...

They didn't do anything with him because the actor who played him is dead. They probably didn't give him a different voice out of respect. As for Scotty, well, he didn't want to be on the episode, so they killed off the guy "subbing" for him. Hey, he had on a red shirt!

This was a great episode. It was almost worth missing Justice League for. I did a double take when they made the joke about "another science fiction television show cancelled in it's prime, :(."

I'm looking forward to Season Fi...no, no, scratch that. I'm looking forward to seeing what's left of Seasons Three and Four.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that DeForrest Kelly is dead. He was a really great guy :(

And I'm gonna look forward to Season Five (aka the leftovers from Season 3 and 4) too.

Yes, next season is composed entirely of pre-produced material, which is why Futurama is currently in a "holding pattern," which I understand will likely lead to immediate cancellation.

I'd quote some highlights from the latest episode's dialogue, but the entire thing was so consistently good, I can't even come up with anything that stood out. It would be like panning for gold in a river of gold.

Not during any other current show do I laugh as continually as I do during any given episode of Futurama. It's beyond me how Fox can so eagerly kill it just because it's not their own personal cup of tea. Even a massive dumbass such as a Network Exec must be able to recognize a work of pure, unadulterated genius. But my guess is they stopped watching their own shows back around during The Simpsons' fourth season.

I mean, for me, it's not about the sci-fi. I've never watched Star Trek and I never will. To me, Futurama is about epically extraordinary groundbreaking humor. The rich animation conveys the wit so divinely, you'd think even a moron could tell it's too important to be cancelled. But you'd be wrong.

The most horrific part about all this is trying to envision the emptyheaded suits responsible for robbing the world of more Futurama. It was never just another show.

Ok, now I am sorry I missed it yesterday. And what the hell is the season finale airing NOW for? It wasn't on for 90% of the season as it was due to football. (Cal utters a series of fuzz words that he's not able to type here)

Notice the ST cast was animated to look a lot more like they did when they were younger--in actuality, Nichols is noticeably grey, and Nimoy has grown a beard of late. Also loved how Shatner's admitted jerkiness comes into play--he knows next to nothing about Takai, he tends to hog the spotlight, and he's a bit of a womanizer. All that was missing was a joke about his bad rug. He even gets to speak-sing at one point--a rap song, no less. "He has found a way!"

The voice of the alien was done by Maurice LaMarche, who is known for his impersonation of Shatner--I thought that was a riot.

I wonder why Doohan bowed out of this project? He's eighty, and I heard he's recently fathered a child (my source suspects Viagra helped).

Man that sucks that show was funny. Guess it's gonna make way for another show about some lame loser and how he/she live their life.

I don't know why, but ANY episode of Futurama with Zapp is hilarious. That guy just cracks me up beyond belief.

"One beep for yes, two beeps for no."
"Do you plead guilty?"
*two beeps*
"Double yes! Very well then, I will now carry out the sentence!"

Even though I'm not a ST fan, I did enjoy all the references (especially the one to SW - "Star Wars Trek").

Was this the last new Futurama for this season? Is it coming back next year?

Part that pissed me off most was I think it was aired during the family guy, but there was a commercial that capped off the line-up for Sunday.

Kind of the Hill

Simpsons and something else. Each got their own short telling what the episode was about, and Futurama didn't even get a mention. Only at the end when all the Sunday shows were shown did they then add briefly, "And a all new Futurama!" without giving it a short or even saying it was the Season Finale!

Anyway, the show was way past great. Me and my buds were once Star Trek Fans, but only of The Next Generation. Thought the Johnathan Frakes, "Alright, front row!" joke was hilarious!

All the hardcore fan references were pretty good, and was the line, "Another science fiction show, cancelled before its prime..." was that a self reference?

Man, that Jonathan Frakes joke was awesome. I was laughing for quite awhile at that. The William Shatner singing joke was ultra funny too:

Leela: How is it possible to talk a rap song?

Green Cloud: (angrily) He has found a way...

And about that "Science Fiction" joke, that probably was self-reference...and I feel pretty bad that it had to be said too.

"It's like a cloud....and something bad happens."

That can explain what happened in Louisville. Futurama was interrupted like three times by the news for thunderstorm warnings. So was King of the Hill.

I missed "Futurstock". Missed part of "Leela of Her Own" and "30% Iron Chef". Looks like I have some catching up to do...

about the part where fry asked koeing to say "nuclear wessels." that was hilarious.

another part that i found particularly funny was when takei and koeing had to share the script.
