This thread is for the discussion and discovery of past
and present music used on the Toonami block. :tom:

Just a reminder: Please do not post download links to music that can be legally purchased, it is against Toon Zone rules.

I wanted to share a couple tracks I became aware of today. The song from this promo:

is "Traffic" by Kujo (an early name of Amon Tobin)
Here's a link to a sample of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhkK0BOXO3k

The track was also used in the Toonami Summer 2003 Intro. "Why are you always late?"

The sad thing is that CN/AS let their Ninja Tune license expire and they have no intention of renewing it. DeMarco says AS is happy with their current license agreements, with includes Warp Records (basically Ninja Tune's rival in the kind of music they represent), Ghostly International, and Victory Records.

Hammer by Pelican City is my favorite Toonami track ever. Here's one of my favorite promos that uses the track.

I'm pretty sure that I got somebody at WS to send me an actual full length track of "Hammer". It's on one of my hard drives somewhere, I'd have to try to dig it up. That being said, i don't know that I could even share it here but it IS unreleased music technically, so...idk.

Yeah you told me that the other day. It's ok I already have it downloaded. :D

Oh, I hate you. :P I've wanted to hear the full version of that forever.

It's on Youtube if you want to listen to it there. I just ripped the audio from the video.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure what I have is more official that that. That was just somebody copy and pasting clips from things together and trying to recreate the drum beat.

Yeah I know, but it was the closest thing I could find. There was another one on youtube, but the sound quality was really bad so I chose this one. If you find that file with that song on it you should upload it to youtube, since there isn't an official version of it anywhere. I don't really think anybody's gonna care about a track that's 10 years old that has never been released officially.

To quote Mister Satan: "You asked for it and you got it!"

You may need to turn your speakers up for maximum enjoyment:

Oh wow, the full version is fantastic. I'm a gigantic fan of Danger Mouse (he initially did music as Pelican City), so I am very excited to add this to my music collection.

Y'know, just yesterday I was thinking of how much I loved that track and went hunting for a full version. Guess I picked the right time to do so. DBZ was the second Toonami show I watched religiously after Sailor Moon, and I started watching it right when they began using that track for the Toonami intros for the show. Great memories.

Apparently my video has a dislike already. People these days.

@The Man in Black

Congrats man. I'm pretty sure this is the only official version of the track to ever be uploaded to the internet.

Okay, I got a list of some third-party music that wound up on Toonami. Here's a brief preview of what I got.

Cappo - I.D.S.T. (Instrumental) - Duel Masters 2004 intro
Cappo - Shakedown (Interlude) - Yuyu Hakusho 2004-05 intros (it was used for three different intros)
The Herbaliser - 24 Carat Blag - 2003 Justice League intro
Jackson and His Computer Band - Arpeggio - Forza 2 review 2007

I remember that much more from that teaser that had us thinking we were in for something better than TOMas the Tank Robot. :shake:

I still can not figure out for the love of God why they made Tom 4 the way they did. Flash and D were cool, but why you would you get rid of Sara, the Absolution, and a bad a** looking Tom for a rusted, short, & scrawny piece of junk that looks like Thomas the tank engine? The only thing I can think of is so it would appeal more to small children. As far as music goes, I think the Tom 2 era probably had the best. The Tom 2 era was just overall awesome IMO. Tom 3 & 1 are very close seconds though.

Even if it would have been a licensing nightmare, I wish they would have released OST CDs for IGPX.
I would have bought them, and imported them from Japan if I had to.

Cappo's music is on iTunes. He also does some DNB under the name Stunna. I bought a large chunk of his discography last night. Has quite a Toonami feel to it. I need to check out Stunna though.

Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
