This is a couple months old but Bill Plympton's Hair High (2004) came to Blu-ray in April, courtesy of Deaf Crocodile Films. I never saw it before so I bought it recently. Bottom line: It's what you'll expect from a Plympton film- okay, let me rephrase that, you NEVER know quite what to expect from a Plympton film, but it has his signature art style and doesn't deviate from it too much like, say, Revengeance did. If you've seen The Tune, it's basically a more out-there version of that.

There were definitely some LOL moments, like the teacher who vomits up all his vital organs and the students have to put them back inside in proper order. Or some of the antics with the teen that put on a chicken mascot outfit and ran around the football field with a massive hard-on (long story).

The story is basically a send-up of all those greaser '50s teen films but with some added twists you wouldn't see in those (namely, main characters coming back to life as skeletons).

Unlike some of his films, this had some big names doing the voices- Sarah Silverman, David Carradine, Ed Begley Jr., Martha Plimpton, they even got Matt Groening and Don Hertzfeldt to do a couple bit characters!

This was one of the last productions to be made on traditional cels, before he switched to digital like pretty much everyone else had. The Blu-ray restoration really looks great, and lets you appreciate the attention to detail in every drawing.

I'm glad I finally saw it. Anyone else watch it previously, or see it for the first time on Blu-ray like I did?

Going offline until further notice. David Ellison has won. I’m seeking therapy permanently rather than quitting life. Take care everyone. Once I leave the world into the void, I hope my life is better.
Is that Joan Cusack voicing Jessie in that Toy Story Papa John's commercial? If so, it sounds rough. Woundn't surprise me if it wasn't, though.
