International Disney Networks Thread Part 15

About the acquisitions part, yeah. Even DC Germany between 2004-07 had plenty of acquired shows compared to DC US (where the only acquired shows they had were Sister, Sister (which also aired on DC Germany in 2001), Naturally, Sadie and Life with Derek (both introduced in 2005, with Life with Derek airing on DC Germany as well), unless you count Boy Meets World (a Touchstone show) and the Trollz "Best Friends for Life" movie that was basically edited episodes of the DIC show that never aired on DC US in full).

Some examples of acquired shows DC Germany aired between 1999-2007 include the Nicktoon Rugrats (possibly due to the local Nickelodeon channel shutting down in Germany in 1998), Clueless (the series), Sabrina the Teenage Witch (the live-action sitcom), Round the Twist, Ace Lightning, My Parents are Aliens, The Basil Brush Show, Caitlin's Way (which Disney Channel Asia also aired and also possibly the same reason as Rugrats), My Dad the Rock Star, Girlstuff/Boystuff, and popular Teletoon hit Atomic Betty,.

Another example of an international Disney Channel feed airing plenty of acquisitions was Disney Channel Asia, especially in the early-mid 2000s. Notable acquired programming DC Asia had during that time are Arthur, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Student Bodies, The Wonder Years (1988 series), Generation O!, Tracey McBean, Donkey Kong Country, Ned's Newt, Tales from the Cryptkeeper, Black Hole High, The Sleepover Club, Tutenstein and So Little Time.
Interesting variety of shows DC SEA had, they also aired both DIC Sonic cartoons.

Likely because Disney didn't allow Russia to keep the Disney name as they own the trademark. They wouldn't have given Russia any Disney content either. If it was here to stay, it wouldn't have been filled with Disney content making a "Disney" Channel useless.
In any case, I don’t think cooperation with AMC gives it any obligations or rights, and these 20% prevent it from being shut down. And I gave the 80% example.

Speaking of DC Asia, they treated a lot of the acquired programming poorly. For example, they gave up airing Arthur after the first half of season 5, leaving the rest of the season (and also all other seasons following this) unaired in the SEA region (except Singapore, where it continued to air there on Kids Central/Okto).

Even in 2004 IMO DC US was more boring than DC IT.
Just more of the "hit shows" and everything else as secondary, especially acquisitions (which were plenty in EMEA, especially outside of the UK)

Partly because Toon Disney and Playhouse launched later on

Of course, now with the linear viewers falling, It has become more extreme
Playhouse Disney Channel US was planned but fell through due to a lack of programming and also cable contract issues. PHDC international did very well but was quite dependent on acquired European and Canadian shows.

I think there’s another reason why they are not shutting down Disney XD Poland. Let me remind you that Disney Channel Russia (FTA) was 80% owned by a Russian company, and the creative control was with Disney, but that didn’t prevent them from shutting down the channel easily
Perhaps a deal that's preventing it? I don't know just guessing here.

Now I understand why

Back then, practically ALL of PD USA was original

Not long before it became Disney Junior, they started finding money for acquisitions

I find it quite interesting and amusing to see how Disney Channel Germany took a bit of inspiration from a fan-made Wreck-It Ralph promo I made last year:

Edit: they actually ended up FULLY recycling the promo I made

Whoa, this is INSANE! This is the first time I see a real network adapting a fan-made promo!

Yeah, Tracey McBean is another example. I think DC Asia only aired the first season, then dropped it in 2004 like a hot potato (by that point, it was only airing on weekends at 5am alongside Generation O!)

I remember when that was on Pop back in the 2010s

Useless: I keep mixing Tracey McBean with Tracy Beaker.

As insane or crazy as this is, are you going to contact their team about this?

Also the launch of Disney + Cinema has likely been delayed, the Sky Cinema channels were meant to be reshuffled tommorow but now that has been removed from the EPG March change log. Quite confusing.

I'm kinda expecting an Easter week launch? I won't criticize any further delays.

If it is then, the launch is in March, as said by Sky, so only that Monday and Tuesday are open.

Hopefully not on Easter as we've seen a mess up happen as the Scandinavian relaunch was late one day even though it was announced that it was supposed to launch on Easter Monday. Do it on a week when staff is actually there doing things manually.

Same as some Disney+ shows appearing on Sky Atlantic, there must have been a delay in general with the agreements

I didn't know about Disney + shows on Sky Atlantic.
Yeah, The Bear and some other Disney+ top tier shows will be premiering on Sky Atlantic soon (which Is due to launch on Virgin Media in April).

Obviously to compensate the lack of new HBO premieres (going to HBO Max, instead) on the channel.

They are currently planned for the 26th of March, so maybe Disney+ Cinema will also launch then

Cartoon Network has really helped me cope with some dark times this year.
Starting to be active on the forums again since this is one of the few places I can have informed, good-faith discussion about cartoons.
The Voyo-exclusive Romanian dub of Garfield and Friends goes on with the second season now being relased. I was afraid they will forget about the show after only one season.

As someone who's Portuguese, it just bugs me again that we lost. I wanted Portugal to win this time because this is Ronaldo's last, but no, we think Ronaldo has devolved significantly, and we lost against Spain.
Fowler's Sonic the Hedgehog > Bay's  Transformers. There, I said it.
