The Superman and Flash race is kind of a hallmark of fun DC hero crossovers, so it's kind of surprising that we haven't really seen it in animation since that classic S:TAS episode. It was pretty fun seeing JLA get to do it's own take on such a classic concept :D.

It was nice to see Flash take on more of a spotlight in this episode as we not only get to see the Speed Force, a major element of the Flash mythos, introduced but also get to see the Scarlet Speedster save the day ;).

Lois getting to make her first proper speaking appearance on the TV-side was pretty awesome, and Tara Strong does a solid job as the Daily Planet's Ace Reporter (which is, like, the 7th or 8th major DC lady she's voiced at this point) :anime:.

Although while her reporting of the race was definitely lively, it did seem a little skewed in Superman's favor :rolleyes2:.

It was cool to have GL show up and start the race, and even bring back Josh Keaton for a line or two, though it would've been nice to see him and Flash interact a bit :).

It's...kind of weird seeing Batman smiling as Bruce Wayne at this point. That look of anger on his face looked far more natural :harley:.

"Well, of course there's that whiny voice of yours!" Luthor speaking for everyone in the audience when it comes to Chronos :p.

Where did Firestorm go? And where did Hawkman and Wonder Woman come from ?

I'm used to Flash facing off against evil Speedsters like the Reverse-Flash, so it was neat getting to see him tussle with a super-speedy Lex Luthor .

I thought this was okay. I was kinda surprised that they went into the Speed Force.

Justice League Action "Race Against Crime"

How am I supposed to believe Superman is a match for Flash in a race if he's never heard of the Speed Force?

Luthor is right that Chronos has a whiny voice. I would have shot him too.

All right, but not great. ***.

Luthor must have a lot of bad yelp reviews from other super villains at this point. :p

I think that hideout was the one from "Best Day Ever" but we got to see more of the exterior surroundings.

Flash's theory about Luthor's endgame was hilarious.

It was a pleasant and welcome surprise to watch the episode shift to a Flash feature story.

Where did Firestorm go? And where did Hawkman and Wonder Woman come from ?
Still making fireworks? Or Stein is still lecturing Ronnie about the Speed Force. :p I imagine Hawkman and Wonder Woman deployed from the Watchtower.

I'm used to Flash facing off against evil Speedsters like the Reverse-Flash, so it was neat getting to see him tussle with a super-speedy Lex Luthor .
That was a one of the better moments of comeuppance for Luthor in the last scene. :D

I can only imagine what kind of reviews Circe and Joker would give him :rolleyes2:.

That's a pretty neat mountain/mansion base Luthor's got going on...

Flash's theory about Luthor's endgame was hilarious.
It's funny because it's true ;).

That was a one of the better moments of comeuppance for Luthor in the last scene. :D
For once I think Luthor was actually glad he didn't have hair. Just imagine it blowing in his face with all that speed :p.

Great episode. Loved Luthor's suits, just another one in an impressive line of suits he's been using in this show.

Flash is infinitely faster than Superman but this is always a fun episode concept.

Really liking this mad scientist, work alone, Luthor, he's betrayed everyone he's ever worked with so far and it works.

Pretty good episode and a nice spotlight for the Flash, who hasn't really had that many chances to shine on this series. It's cool to see Lois Lane make her proper debut on the show (as well as some hints as to how she feels about Superman). Lex Luthor was handled well enough but I wasn't really in a hurry to see Chronos again.

I liked the race between Superman and Flash, a classic theme from the comics but also a pretty nice callback to Superman: TAS. Especially since Flash has the same voice actor from that episode 20 years earlier.

I also appreciated the short lesson about the Speed Force, or the cameos from the other heroes. Superman and Flash had a fun dynamic. All in all, an entertaining episode.

I give props to the show for giving Harley and Joker their own identities outside of their relationship with each other. I mean, they're never appeared in the same episode.

It's intentional

Justice League Action “Party Animal”

I don’t like this Grundy as much as Justice League’s version, but they got the essentials right.

Fred Tatasciore is an obvious casting choice, but I prefer Mark Hamill simply because he is not. Hamill’s performance surprises you with the amount of range and soulfulness involved.

As first, I was like “They’re getting Grundy wrong!” He’s not the type of dude who likes scaring children, or worse as Batman says “A soulless creature”. The whole shtick of “The Terror Beyond” was that Grundy was searching for a soul and he had one all along. But then he apologizes to the girl at the end and gives her a teddy bear. And suddenly this show gets Grundy after all.

I love Batman’s “Sleds don’t talk.” What an amazing quip and way to shut up Plastic Man. Indeed.

I like that Green Arrow’s secondary concerns seemed to be the danger Grundy posed, and he was more worried about the office politics of how well his Christmas party was going compared to Star Labs. This version of Oliver Queen is a bit desperate to be loved, and I find that quite funny.

Great episode. ****1/2.

Party Animal: I loved how Grundy went looking for the little girl he scared, just to give her the teddy bear. That was super sweet.

At least they waited until December to air the Christmas episode :D.

Batman's never struck me as the holiday party type (or parties at all unless Bruce Wayne is required to attend), so I could feel Green Arrow's pain in trying to get him to attend. Makes me wonder what it's like for Robin and Alfred when he's holed up in the Batcave for Christmas...

It also made a nice contrast with his opposite number Green Arrow, who is super-into the holidays and was being a complete perfectionist about the party ;).

It was nice seeing Zatanna get another speaking appearance :).

I guess Flash is the last-minute Christmas shopper type. And cheap too :rolleyes2:.

I love how Flash totally just kidnaps Batman to bring him to the Christmas party :p.

It was nice seeing Dr. Light, Supergirl, and Black Canary make their proper debuts here even if none of them did more then just stand around and not say anything (like most of the guests at the party).

You'd think at least Black Canary would have more of a role in such a Green Arrow-focused episode o_O.

Now I want to see Professor Hamilton as Santa :anime:.

Poor Plas forced into being Batman's vehicle :ack:.

See Batman, even soulless zombies like Grundy can have hearts too :proud:.

This goes down as another excellent DC animated Christmas episode.

"You know how hard it was for me to find a banquet hall that's insured for meta-humans?" :D

That was a nice touch that GA was going to read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" then Plas showed up with Grundy and later he plays the "The Night Before Christmas" episode/movie of classic Tom and Jerry.

I was a little horrified in that news report Grundy watched when Keely revealed Grundy fell on top of Santa. I didn't realize that in the actual scene.

Wonder Woman's "No wonder he's mad" was another good line. It would have funny if the guys all bought the girls the same kind of teddy from the same bin.

Agreed!

Plas' commentary on her pudding was pretty funny.

I loved the gag that Plas bought from the same bin.

His "Put. Me. Down." and the camera zooming into him each word was well executed. :D Then Batman holding GA back with his hand after he dropped the tray was even funnier.

I know Supergirl has some big roles coming up, but I have no clue about Light and Canary. What a missed opportunity for those 2 in this series. I think only JLU had decent episode with Light in the last season. It's a bummer no show's really picked up on her yet.

I quote Bruce from BTAS:

Dick: You never seen It's A Wonderful Life?

Bruce: I could never get past the title.

As for Flash he was the same way in JL animated series.

I know Rachel Kimsey also said Huntress would be showing up, around the time she mentioned the Christmas episode, so I was expecting to see her there but couldn't find her either...

"Party Animal" was pretty awesome. I'm always a fan of Christmas specials and this was really well done.

I liked how the characters interacted at Green Arrow's party, and how much he went out of his way to make everything perfect. Wanting Batman to show up was nice and understandable enough.

It's cool how the episode managed to focus on more heroes - Arrow, Plas, Flash & Batman - but also on the villain. Grundy was handled pretty well, and I was surprised how heartwarming things got when he escaped from the party.

I suppose if it were a full half-hour shows some of the background characters (like Black Canary and Supergirl) would have done more than just appear. Possibly more scenes at the Christmas party, or action trying to subdue Grundy.

Speaking of which, the party scenes were hilarious. Especially the gifts most of the heroes brought. My favorite gag was probably Flash trying to give a teddy bear first to Zatanna, then to Superman. :D

Also, very nice use of a classic Tom & Jerry cartoon. I was half-expecting them to feature Looney Tunes for some reason, but this worked out fine.

If the show continues, I hope they follow the Teen Titans Go! tradition of having specials for just about every holiday - Easter, Labor Day, Cinco de Mayo, Daylight Saving Time, etc. They already had several Halloween episodes. :p

Happy 20th anniversary to Gummibär/Gummy Bear!

Here's to hoping he releases an anniversary album in stores on November 13th (with lots of music, videos, and extras).
Just brought a Switch 2 this past weekend. I hope Nintendo doesn't follow Sony's suit of getting rid of physical games.
Find it hard to beleive how this upcoming set has more than one normally-considered "politically incorrect" cartoon in new restoration form..
