Anyhoo...

I'm a little disappointed that MeTV Toons is playing it safe and focusing on shows/movies with characters people already know. In 1972, long before the similarly named movie from 1983 came out, Hanna-Barbera made a Christmas special called "A Christmas Story", which is where the songs later featured in A Flintstones Christmas originally came from. It's about a dog named Goober (not the character from "Goober and the Ghost Chasers") and a mouse named Gumdrop who try to deliver an unmailed letter to Santa written by Goober's boy. It was one of the few TV specials H-B made that feature completely original characters. If they can show the Bunnicula special made by Ruby-Spears, or DIC's "A Hollywood Hounds Christmas" (which seems like a pilot for a planned show that didn't get made), why can't they show this one? It was on the Boomerang streaming service wasn't it?...

(sigh) Look, I really wish MeTV Toons would show more of the other holiday specials that H-B, R-S, DIC, and other have made, and not just the ones that have characters that are already known. I know Weigel is serious about this, so I really hope they at least consider being more diverse with what they plan to show on MeTV Toons (I know Franenstein Jr. and the Impossibles is coming soon, but still).

Not 100% sure, I thought that MeTV Toons air shows and movies is available for Weigel, so content providers don't give unlimited contents that allow Weigel to make more creative with lineup.

I somewhat blame on content providers like WB, WildBrain and others for not give all options that Weigel want to air, also Paramount and Disney aren't supplied at all. Some are very expensive to carry like Amblin, otherwise Weigel would love to air ER on H&I.

I have to wait and see about what other members say and Tacomaster may know.

Caillou is airing at 6:30am/5:30c /4:30am mt on Christmas Day... The only people up are parents with their kids who decided at 4:47am was a good time to celebrate Christmas, nightshift workers coming home, people up watching all 24 hour of a Christmas story like it's a challenge and have to watch all 24 hours and have it on two TVs with TBS and TNT airings, and people with cats and cats don't know it's Christmas day and don't care they want food and wake up their people at 5:39AM (can also be dog people with dogs who want to go outside) )


It's a low rated spot on what will be ,for them, a low rated day. It's 93% not a plot to covert the channel to a kid's channel. (not that any over the air kids channels ever failed)

Hopefully this channel isn't just banking on nostalgia, in fact it needs people to also watch for discovery and rarities are also good for discovery. A TCM mindset is 100% better than an old TV Land mind set. TCM can air the 1932 film "Skippy" not because anyone is nostalgic for it 98% of those people are dead, they air stuff for people to discover and have favorites. You create a new nostalgia if anything, like Cartoon Network when they aired Looney Tunes and how I watched it even though it wasn't the year 1956 and had no prior nostalgia.

I honestly didn't even realize what time it was airing (I didn't fully read the article, I just looked to see that it was actually there after people started talking about it). That does make it feel like they know not much of their audience would be excited to see it and were probably more or less given it.

MeTV Toons does have a Pacific Feed. Weigel owned KEJR-LD 40.2 here in Phoenix recently switched from the Eastern Feed to the Pacific Feed at the beginning of the month.

MeTV Toons says that Extreme Ghostbusters was “created in 1993”. That’s wrong. According to Wikipedia (yeah, I know, but it’s all I’ve got), it was created in 1996 as “Super Ghostbusters”, and premiered in 1997.

I know they’re serious about this, but they still need to get their facts straight…

There's no Mountain Time zone feed , we get the east feed, I would be annoyed to get the west feed.

Cable channels and many digital subchannels generally have east and west feed, so no central nor mountain feed.

METV ,itself has a feed for the Mountain Time zone just like the bigger broadcast networks.

Yeah West feed would make 5pm shows at 6pm. On cable here some channels were ET some were PT, because we're the forgotten time zone really. It's a little more east now, at leas how things work for me.

Oh wow, MeTV at our area is east feed - our start 1 hour early.

Big networks (ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX) use local time - central time zone. Nearly all of cable channels in here is east feed, also only handful have west feed as extra like saying "Nick 2".

I’ve been out of the loop here, but I never in a million years would have guessed that Caillou would be coming to MeTV Toons. It’s not nostalgic and it doesn’t have a fanbase. Yeah I know it’s a one off special airing early Christmas morning, but still.

That's exactly how it is here in Arizona in Mountain Standard Time which falls in the same time zone as Mountain Time this time of year.

WildBrain owns this as well. I seriously wouldn't be surprised if they actually air Johnny Test in the future. And now that we know they'll be airing a content from a preschool show ip that isn't tied to any of the big three franchises, I have a feeling they might even air Franklin in the future too

True a lot of cartoons associated with pbs kids aren't actually owned by pbs themselves. The new barney reboot for example is airing on cartoon network and the teletubbies revival aired on nick jr and not on pbs. And i remember there was a big stink back in the day when pbss crown jewel sesame street wouldn't have new episodes premiere on pbs but instead hbo even though said episodes would eventually air on pbs.

I still say they should air “A Christmas Story” (again, the 1972 TV special by Hanna-Barbera) along with other specials H-B made that aren’t just the ones with characters people already know.
