MeTV Toons - Network TALKBACK & Discussion Thread

We got our first hint of ratings from Variety's top 150 tv channels in 2025!

It ranked 93, with 80k viewers!
Here's the link to the article.

I'm guessing this is average ratings for the year. Considering MeTV Toons added DirecTV, Dish, Fubo, MediaCom and now Xfinity since the Summer, the actual ratings right now maybe higher.

For perspective, it's tied with VH1 with 80,000 viewers total, and is doing better than Disney Junior, Science Channel, Nicktoons, Starz, Boomerang, MTV2, Disney XD, Discovery Family, and CNN en Español. That's pretty damn good for a brand new channel in 2025!

Not bad ratings for sure. The channel had been inaccessible to many viewers for much of the year and yet it still beat out over 50 channels, including Weigel's own StoryTV. With an average of 80k we can be sure that during special events they've surpassed 100k. Pretty solid for a channel that's entirely reruns of old cartoons.

(Also, the channel most similar to Toons, Boomerang, sits with a rating of 27k, 3 times lower. This clearly indicates they're doing something right to maintain interest in a broader audience).

Managing to reach 80,000 average viewers for 2025 is pretty crazy considering everything. I imagine next year's number will be much higher, as long as they keep people interested.
There are big news in store for 2026, so keep your eyes peeled!

It also beat out Catchy Comedy, despite Catchy being 10 years older.

The shows on MeTV Toons that have SD prints are Freakazoid!, Beetlejuice and The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley. I can't think of anything else.

These shows also have SD prints:
  • 2 Stupid Dogs
  • Seemingly most Betty Boop shorts
  • Most Casper (and other Harveytoons) shorts
  • Histeria!
  • A few Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies shorts ("What's My Lion?" and "Ain't That Ducky" are what I can think of)
  • Marine Boy
  • The Mask
  • Some MGM shorts (which aren't Tom & Jerry)
  • Some Mighty Mouse (and other Terrytoons) shorts
  • Mr. T
  • The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries
  • Police Academy: The Animated Series
  • Some Popeye shorts
  • The Real Ghostbusters
  • Silverhawks
  • The Smurfs (starting with Season 5)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Totally Tooned In
  • The Underdog Show
  • Some Woody Woodpecker (and other Universal/Walter Lantz) shorts
  • Yogi's Treasure Hunt

I'm pretty sure those SPT remasters of some classic Harveytoons during Casper and Company are in HD. Their logo appears at the end in widescreen for an otherwise pillarboxed short.

Starting on January 19, 2026, the Terrytoons will now air on Cartoon All-Stars. (Mother Goose's Birthday Party is a 1950 Terrytoon short featuring Mighty Mouse)

Batfink and Milton the Monster will come on the Casper and Company block soon. The source is from The Extras' WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW about the upcoming WOODY WOODPECKER Golden Age Collection on YouTube with Jerry Beck (he mentions at about the 50:32 mark).

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
