Nintendo 3DS - General Talkback Thread 2

The new 3DS games, to me, feel like they'll be better than the Wii U ones this year, namely Yoshi's New Island and Kirby: Triple Deluxe.

I still can't get the 3D to work for me. I'm currently playing Super Mario 3D Land, and sites like Kotaku say that it added a lot to the game and really let you see the world. But it does absolutely nothing for me except make the screen blurry. Adjusting the slider accomplishes nothing.

For those who want to know the release date for Kirby: Triple Deluxe, it comes out May 2nd in the USA.

Yeah, that is a pretty nice deal and it's a nice way for people who haven't bought the games to get them and another game at once, but it would take a good couple of hundred dollars or so.

I haven't seen it mentioned here, but since they're playable on the 3DS, I figured it was worth posting. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for Wii and DS/DSi will be shutting down worldwide on May 20th of this year. Nintendo has an article about it and a list of all games and other stuff that will lose online connection services.[

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service for Nintendo DS and Wii to end in May - Nintendo Official Site

Online play for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games will be unaffected (aside from the Wii mode on Wii U and Nintendo DS games on Nintendo 3DS family systems). Other online functionality, such as access to the Wii Shop Channel, the Nintendo DSi Shop and video-on-demand services, are also not affected at this time.

I heard about that awhile ago. It's too bad since they probably could keep the online functions for DS games longer, but I can understand why they'd choose to cut it off instead.

Everybody seems to like Bravely Default, which is commonly described as an excellent Final Fantasy game that isn't actually named Final Fantasy. It was apparently even first conceived as a follow up to 4 Heroes of Light. I'll probably get to it, though at the moment my first big 3DS game of the year is the latest (and last?!) Professor Layton, where the good guys all talk in classy accents and the puzzles continue to test your thinking in a myriad of ways. Sometimes it just takes careful reasoning, other times you might have to think outside the box just a bit. Good times.

Now we just need a date for Ace Attorney x Layton. Europe will be seeing this later this month on the 28th, hopefully our wait won't be too far beyond that.

Edit: Spotted today is this trailer for the recently announced "Azure Striker Gunvolt", a 2D sidescroller that'll be coming out on the eShop later this year. It notably has Keiji Inafune (Mega Man series, Mighty No. 9) attached, and it looks like the action won't disappoint.

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse: The New Duke Nukem Forever

Well, crap.

My patience with these guys is really wearing thin.

Duke Nukem Forever was in development for 15 years.

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse got delayed for two months.

It's fine to be disappointed by a delay, but there's been plenty of delays worse than this one. Don't overreact.

I was excited about Yoshi's New Island coming out this Friday but then, I found out Dizzy Dandy has been included. I will not lie. I hate how Nintendo made that enemy in these YI games. The first time I saw it was a big jump scare.

What's wrong with Dizzy Dandy? It's a sly trick they pulled. I saw it coming the first time because it's face...

I hate deals like that because there are always people who get a system just days before the promotion begins. I got my 3DS XL a few weeks ago.

You get the copy when you REGISTER your 3DS and game on Club Nintendo, not when you BUY it. I got my 3DS in like... May of last year! And i got Animal Crossing in January. I still managed to get the code, though since I had both X and Y I gifted the code to a friend.

So, I've been a HUGE advocate of the Nintendo 3DS since I got one last year (XL) and I don't see nearly enough love for the worlds best selling video game system here on these forums so I figured I'd start a post to see who out there is loving their 3DS and what games everyone is playing. Currently I'm replaying Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, both games I'm enjoying even more on the 2nd playthrough than I did on the first and both games I find to be exceptionally well done and fun as hell. I finished Super Mario 3D World for a 3rd time a few months back and I've been peppering some Mario Kart 7 in here and there. I'm really contemplating purchasing Bravely Default but I don't know if I have time for a long and involved game like that so I'm tinkering with picking up New SUper Mario Bros 2, which is a game I've been wanting for a long time now. I'm really hoping we get some kind of a first person shooter on the 3DS over time, or maybe a new WWE or UFC game eventually, but I don't know if we will which is crazy because more people own 3DS consoles than they do Wii U's, PS4's, and XBones'. Ah well, I'll find something fun to play and I'm sure many more huge titles are coming in the summer and fall.

I'm really not regretting owning this fantastic console. Currently I alternate between playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf (want to keep up with my town on a daily basis), and Bravely Default. I feel a bit outclassed right now in Bravely Default(I got a Nemesis boss in Norende I just CAN'T BEAT! ARG! Damn you Satan and your Berserk inducing power!) so I've been doing some grinding and it's been a bit boring. I might try to plow ahead in the game and try that boss again when I'm over levelled.

I'm one loan away from having a fully expended house. I kinda wish I had more room for everything :p but I'll make do with the museum exhibit halls.

I was playing Harvest Moon on my 3DS XL. I had the stylus in my hand. I turned to do something on my computer and - poof - my stylus is missing. It was just in my hand and now I can't find it. I've turned my room inside out looking for it - even digging through the trash. No luck. It's pulled a houdini.

I need to buy another, but I want it to be official. I want it to be the exact same one that I just lost. Why... why does Nintendo not sell them in stores? Shouldn't we be able to go to Amazon and just find an easy replacement? I keep coming across "almost-theres" that are similar to the one I lost, but obviously not, because they're not official.

Apparently, I can buy an official replacement off of Nintendo's store, but it's been down for maintenance since last month and is scheduled to come back up Friday. And by the time it comes back on and I order it, it'll be even longer until it actually arrives in the mail. Yet I'd have been happy to buy it right now on Amazon and get day one shipping so it would be here within a day or two.

I'm going to hope my Wii-U stylus is compatible with my 3DS XL. At least I can keep playing for the time being.

First off, ALL Nintendo stylus models work with all DS systems, so it's not going to blow up if you use an old phat DS one with a new 3DS. It just might not fit into the slot exactly. Second, the Gamestops and Toys R Us' near me have XL specific stylus 3-packs that are just as high quality as the OEM versions. I believe the reason Nintendo doesn't specifically sell ant market official replacements is because so many other companies already have the stylus specs and produce good quality replacements.

I've never owned a previous version of the DS and have no older styluses to use. And I guess I just prefer having an official stylus. However, the crisis has been averted. After hours of searching my room, I found the stylus in the kitchen. I did not got into the kitchen in-between me having it and me losing it, so... I'm not sure how that happened. I can only assume my cat nabbed it after it fell onto the ground.

From now on, even if I only put the 3DS down for a few seconds, I'm going to make sure to put the stylus back in its slot. I can't keep putting it on my desk like I have been.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
