I wonder what Nintendo will do replace the 3DS besides their current focus on the Switch? After over 9 years, the 3DS family has finally been put to rest.

Why do you have to be like this? The fact that we've seen less and less games for the system recently as well as Nintendo's current focus on the Switch pretty much confirms it was going to be discontinued sooner than later and given your comment, you're just quick to dismiss the article. Knock it off with that attitude. The Verge? Says them.
Let's see what Nintendo has to say.
There's this other article about it, which also links to Nintendo's Japanese 3DS site, which if you put it through a translator, it says "production of the main body of the Nintendo 3DS series has been discontinued".The Verge? Says them.

See, this is why @Mandouga doesn't really understand some articles and constantly dismiss it as clickbait when really they aren't.There's this other article about it, which also links to Nintendo's Japanese 3DS site, which if you put it through a translator, it says "production of the main body of the Nintendo 3DS series has been discontinued".

After nine years, the Nintendo 3DS has ended production
Even though the Switch has literally changed the game when it comes to handhelds from Nintendo, today they’ve made an announcement that’s likely to hit fansnintendowire.com
I don't think I paid much attention to who said that at first. It didn't dawn on me until I saw your response to him. So it sounds about right.See, this is why @Mandouga doesn't really understand some articles and constantly dismiss it as clickbait when really they aren't.
I read the first article and realized I forgot that the 3DS came out in 2011. I got mine in late 2011. Best Buy was having a promotion where they gave you a $50 gift card for getting one, and another promotion where if you buy two 3DS games, you get a third for free. I already wanted The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Star Fox 64 3D, and I chose Super Mario 3D Land as the game you get for free. I didn't really want that though. So I just sold it, but not for a ridiculous price. Then I got a New 3DS XL in 2017 so I could download SNES games from the eShop on it. The StreetPass feature was kind of fun when you went to places where you could get a lot of StreetPass tags. I'd get a lot of them at the Symphony of the Goddesses concerts, when I visited the Nintendo NY store, and even in airports. I currently have 595 Mii characters in my Mii Plaza. Here's a Wired article on the legacy ofthe 3DS.
Online services and eShop support for the 3DS will continue despite the discontinuation.![]()
