Well, I'm DL'ing my second PS3 game now as I write this. I went through the Account Information selection on the XMB, and it was still under "Services". OTOH, something odd happened. I picked the Wipeout HD bundle (I don't play M rated games, so no Dead Nation, and InFamous isn't the kind of T rated game that I would play*), and it was odd to see both the "demo" and the "full game unlock" as part of the bundle. Is this normal for PS Store "bundles"? I'm guessing it is. I figure the "demo" is in fact the game itself, with the "unlock" being the thing that promotes it (for lack of a better word) to full game status. I guess this (at least) should be okay.

*I only play some T rated games. It really depends on the game, and along with a whole lot of other stuff.

Scared to death I'm going to get screwed out of deals, but so far it's working.

Download Icon Missing

If you do not immediately select your free game after downloading "Welcome Back Free PS3 Game 1", "Welcome Back Free PS3 Game 2", "Welcome Back Free PSP Game 1", or "Welcome Back Free PSP Game 2", and notice that the icon is missing, you need to perform the following steps in order to claim the free game:

Exit the PlayStation Store.

From the XMB, select [PlayStation Store] > [Account Management] > [Transaction Management] > [Services List] > [SCEA Promotion].

Select "Welcome Back free PS3 Game 1", "Welcome Back Free PS3 Game 2", "Welcome Back Free PSP Game 1", or "Welcome Back Free PSP Game 2" (which ever product has remaining uses).

Select "Select Content" button and select your game.

Yes, this is the way many of them work. It's normal.

Is it possible for PSP-only users to get the PSN+ trial? I keep looking for answers elsewhere and it keeps getting ignored or confused with the vanishing free games (I already dealt with that). Not everyone has a PS3, you know.

Nope. You probably need a PS3 because of the DRM involved in the "free" PSone and minis titles. And, for the record, I have yet to redeem the free 30 days on the PS3 because PSN was wonky last night

PSP has the ability to use that date-expiring DRM - that's how the movie rental service is done.

Well, I got Little Big Planet and Super Stardust HD successfully. I waited until tonight to download them, so that might have had something to do with it.

I've been having significant problems staying signed into to PSN and also Netflix. I'm not sure what is going on as we just activated Netflix and for the first few days it worked perfectly. I heard PSN store is having issues because people are downloading so much but I'm not sure if that's why we're having so many problems with Netflix connectivity.

I don't remember if I mentioned this before or not (tl;dr), but I once decided that I was going to use prepaid cards from now on. However, I also believe in "cleaning my plate". That is, if I put $20 in my account, then I want to spend $20. For this reason, I remembered that no how many you use, there were always be leftovers. Even you use a $20 card to get a game for $19.99, there will always be $0.01 left. If you get anothe $20 card and buy another $19.99 game, then you'll have $0.02 leftover, etc, etc, etc. They're convenient and everything, but I can't keep buying them (then using them) just so I can "clean my plate". For this reason, I'm seriously considering using my debit card again (since, if you don't have enough in your account for the game you want, the rest can come from the card). So, I have a couple questions:

1. Is it possible to enter your information every time you want to buy something (i.e., without having to "save" it)?

2. If you do have to save it, can you do that, then after a while remove it from your "Account Information".

This is a difficult decision for me since after the whole hacker thing, I can't really trust Sony with my information. Can anyone help?

Either way you're going to have to get over this "clean your plate" hangup. There were still be times when you're going to have money left in your PSN account because the minimum you can add with a debit or credit card is $5. If you buy content that's less than $5 you still have money sitting in there. So why not go with the cards because they make you feel more secure?

As for your questions:

1: I don't think so.

Meh I just kept using my card info with the PSN. Sony has to have my debit info for EQ as well. I'm not a fan of going to the store to just buy a time card to enter in every month. The same goes for PSN. Having my debit info there is just convenient, and if there ends up being another breach I'll get my card and number changed.

Maybe, but when you remove your information, it also gets removed from the central databases you refer to (I think this is what they call "cloud computing"). That's why I was asking if it were possible to enter it, then remove it later. Or rather, I know it technically is possible, but I just want to know if that would cause any problems if I do it too quickly.

Anyway, at the time I wrote my post, I had forgotten about the online codes you could get at Amazon (who, needless to say I WOULD need to give my information to, but that's not the point). Of course, I know you can't get every PSN game this way, but that's one option I do know about.

Why would you assume Amazon is any less likely to be hacked than Sony? Heck, banks get hacked all the time. There's really no 100 percent protection against it except switching to only cash and barter.

I'd like to see an official source for this idea that taking your credit card out of your PS3 pulls your info from anywhere. I don't think that's true at all. I remember that one of the scandals of the hack was that Sony was still holding onto years old obsolete card info, so I honestly doubt they pull it off as soon as you do. Maybe if you cancel your PSN account entirely.

Yes, it was a database of user info dating back to 2007 on SoE's servers. I imagine PSN's databases are stored the same way. So while you can delete your info from your PSN account, I don't believe the numbers are deleted from their databases.
