Smallville #4-12 "Pariah"
Clark (Tom Welling) has big concerns after his new g-friend, Alicia (guest star Sarah Carter) becomes the prime suspect in a brutal attack against Lana (Kristin Kreuk) and Jason (Jensen Ackles). Clark initially defends Alicia, but when the evidence begins to pile up he is forced to take a hard truthful look at the situation. Hurt by Clark's actions, Alicia forces Clark to unknowingly reveal his powers in front of Chloe (Allison Mack). Meanwhile, Jason's mother (guest star Jane Seymour) returns to town with an offer for Lex (Michael Rosenbaum).

Paul Shapiro directed the episode written by Holly Herold.

A good looking episode! :anime: Did Lana finally broke up with her boyfreind? He is like a thorn at her side. When are they going to shoe the rerun of this episode, I missed the first half.

Did you see the part in which Chloe discovers the true identity of superman? Please don't kill her or make her bonk her head and forget.

Yay, Lex is in the hizzy
EDIT: A satisfying ending. I'm very glad nightcrawler girl is no longer with us. What a dark episode this was, not bad at all.

Aw.....:crying: Alicia died. I kind of saw this coming, but at the same time I didn't. Poor Clark. I mean, I don't know what I'd do if I was in his situation. I'm happy Chloe knows the secret and that she's doing the right thing by not exposing him. Lex is just now being so annoying. Like seriously, I'm tired of him. He wasn't really even needed in this episode, but what's an episode of Smallville without him, right? I think I really liked this episode because they really emphasized somethings. The way Alicia died was so sad. Having the world against her and even the person she loves.

Next week's episode looks...interesting. I can tell you that I'm not as hyped up for it as I was for today's, but I'm looking forward to it.

Overall: 5/5 They couldn't have made it any better.

good episode the Wb hit us with back to back great eps with alicia now they are coming at us next week with some crazy frat boy trying to kill lois how clever

How do I say this?
I don't like the direction of the show, but I like what they did with it. Does that make sense? Perhaps...about as much sense as Alicia calling from her car even though she can teleport out of it. But whatever.

So Lana and Chloe still aren't dead. Geez. The attempts on Lana are getting old, and so is Chloe still being alive. Although-crap, I fell for it-it will be interesting to see how she does with Clark's secret.

So what was up with the villain? Everyone acted like we were supposed to know him (was he in a previous episode?), and his powers were very similar to that of Spider-Man's Sandman.

Also, do we know who picked up Lionel from jail yet?

Next week's episode looks...*yawn*...sorry...looks...I mean, I'll watch it, but...yeah.

I just caught the last 10 minutes of this or so. But now more than ever I''m really starting to appreciate Chloe. Smallville has the tendency to end its episodes with beautiful endings. To be honest, this one really didn't, but there was that one scene with Chloe taking off all those articles on Clark from 'The Wall of Weird.'It had this sense of ironic tradgedy to it. To a common observer that gesture on her part may very well not even be noticed, but to her and unconsciously to Clark that means so much more.
Lets just hope Chloe won't die.

Yup, Chloe has really become one of my favorite characters in the story. She's starting to Lana's place. She can be such a great person. I thought it was really funny when Lois asked Chloe where Clark and Alicia were after Chloe found out about the secret. It was hilarious.

I have also noticed that the endings to the episodes have kinda been "here it is, there". Last week's ending was great, but this week's were kind of just there. It didn't leave me crazy for the next episode.

Not bad. I thought Jason was the one who'd find out Clark's secret when Clark saved him after busting open his car window, but I guess Jason was too busy choking to notice. I'm surprised that one guy was the sandman, seemed a little bit too easy. I was pretty pleased with Alicia being the vehicle for Chloe to find out Clark's secret, that was all very well played. Chloe's moment of shock when Lois came asking about Clark was a little over the top and teatering on camp, but not too bad.

I felt for poor ol' Alicia. I wasn't sold on Tom Welling's acting when he happened upon Alicia hanging out in the barn, and Lois seemed to just stumble into the scene a little unbelievably. Transitioning from the barn to the museum seemed very fast, not the best editting of the series. Clark's fight with Sandy was pretty good. All in all, not a bad episode. I might just like Chloe more now that she knows Clark's secret...

Clark's fight with Sandy was pretty good
Speaking of which, how did either Clark or Lois know where he was and what was he even doing there?

A non-Lois non-comic character who's had a crush on Clark and knows his secret? That leaves just one question: How long does she have to live doctor?

Sand-guy should feel lucky Clark didn't burn a hole through his chest.

I really really really hope they don't kill Chloe. While Lois is nice to have on the show, the canon contradictions will start to rack up. And I hate Lana. A waste of space.

I didn't think this was very good. They spared Alicia only so they could kill her a week later, the FOTW had unbelievably lame dialogue (there was even that old "You won't get away with this!" "But I already have!" exchange, and Alicia had to waste her last words on that!) And Chloe knowing the secret turns out to affect....ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! That's just great; I bet she never admits she knows until the final episode or something. I'M GONNA HAAAATE THIS SO MUUUUCH.
Next week doesn't look good either; Lois better bust out some good one-liners to save it...

I thought this episode was decent, but I thought the writing and the direction were off. I'm sad that Alicia was killed, I wish she wasn't, (you always kill the characters you like) but I think the reveal of her being hung, purely from a filmmaking aspect, could have been accomplished better.

Imagine, for instance, Clark looking for Alicia and then maybe seeing a shadow of someone hanging and then revealing her body, or even not seeing the body hanging but just seeing a shadow of that fact and then Clark with heat vision shooting the rope and rushing to catch her. There are many other ways to shoot that scene and I just that the way it was shot wasn't as good as it could have been.

Anyway, thats just a minor gripe, in that I don't think her death was revealed as emotionally and effectively as it could have been. Other than that, this episode was good, not great like last week's. I gave it a 4.5 which is probably too high, just because Alicia was in it. Here's hoping Alicia had another trick up her sleeve. :D

I don't understand how FOTW killed Alicia. Couldn't she have just vaporized out of the noose?
Other than that, I thought it was a good episode. I look forward to see how closely Chloe watches Clark from now on. And I think Lex should hook up with Jason's mom. :anime:

He probably drugged her (we did see him chloroform her), killed her, then dropped her from the noose. At least that's the impression I got. She looked a bit erm, already-dead when Clark took her body down, anyway.

I rated this episode 4 stars because I've seen better episodes (can't think of any right now but I'm positive I have ;)) but it was pretty good in its own right. And the Chloe-FINALLY-finding-out-Clark's-secret thing was a nice change of pace, although it probably won't add much to the overall plot (although I'm sure it'll affect Chloe as a character) for a while yet.

You're right about the entire Lana Lang-kill! thing is getting old, though (it's been stale for a while now, actually). If I got assaulted nearly half as much as she did I'd move out of town.

And I think Lex should hook up with Jason's mom
If he doesn't, I will.
Speaking of Jason's mom, did anyone happen to catch her line that kinda gave a nod to her Dr. Quinn?
Back to "Who the heck is this Sandman Tim?". In addition to my last question (which I guess no one else knows, either), how did Alicia find him, and where were they? And why did Alicia act like she knew him, too? Did I miss him in a previous episode? Why does everyone seem so familiar with him?

yeah, what he said. Not a lot of effort was put into writing this with any kind of logic, and the characters all seemed slightly... well, off-character.

I was looking forward to more Alicia, and then they go an kill her. All this misery and angst is just too much for Clark. He is supposed to grow up to be Superman, not Batman. Heck, he could turn out to be The Punisher if he doesn't start to have a bit of fun soon. The Alicia romance needed at least another episode or two. They could still have gotten to the horrible death stuff, and it would have resonated a bit more if they had at least had some good times together, but it was pretty much misery from day 1. Disappointingly sloppy episode.

Another good episode for Smallville. I was pretty sure Chloe was going to be the one to find out the secret but I was surprised she didn't tell Clark. It'll be interesting to see how this changes their relationship. Alicia's death was pretty sad and I was a little surprised when Clark almost killed the sand guy. It's a good thing Lois was with him. The effects in this episode were really good. The sand effects were great and Clark catching the car has to be one of the coolest moments of the entire show. I hope they can keep this level of quality up for the rest of the season.

I wasn't very impressed with Tom Welling's acting to in that scene. I, honestly, think he could have done a better job. He could have shown a bit more emotion or even some anger.

I think Jason's mom is an absolutely pointless character. She's so annoying. Looking at her makes me annoyed. I was very grossed out when she started talking about Lex's childhood and at the same time being flirtatous and all. I hope that all this effort to making Lana and Jason's relationship in the episodes will be worth something in the near future. I see their relationship going nowhere but at the same time, I doubt myself. Who knows....they just better not kill Chloe cause I will be in deep depression for a few weeks if they do.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
