Sonic Boom--News and Discussion Thread

i can not believe CN is picking up one the greatest video game character ever! as a fan of the television series and the video game i will be watching this show! i just hope the voice actors are better then the ones that they got for sonic x not that i had problem with actors it just that kidswb didnt got right one to voice the right charaters such as 'knuckles'

looking forward for show, coming soon

This is a major shock, considering the show at face value seems more like one of those licensed cartoons Nickelodeon would pick up, hype weeks prior to airing, air maybe once or twice, and then never air it again. Cartoon Network picking it up is just something out of the literal blue, I'm hoping it'll get better treatment there.

Man, what is up with those shadows?

You've got to be kidding me.
(reands with more attention)
WHAT?! FRENCH CHANNELS ARE CO-FINANCING THIS?! NO WAY! They already did this with Sonic Underground (on SU, TF1 financed it, I assume).

Highly doubt 4Kids' actors will be a part of this, at least I hope they aren't.

If anything I see them bringing in the video game cast which is more likely and something I embrace as it'll be the first time it ever happens and Roger Craig Smith is great as Sonic!

Still in shock of this happening; was completely speechless when I came across the news. However, something that just came to mind was Tak and the Power of JuJu. If that was still airing now and by the time the show premieres, we could have a counterprogramming video game war between CN and Nick though I can only imagine it to be completely one-sided with it resulting in Nick limping away with its tail between its legs... Ah well, Sonic the Hedgehog is actually on Cartoon Network!!!!!!!

oh not that, i was saying that i hope that sega gets better actors then kidswb did
well video game actors or not im still gonna enjoy this show :)

I like that this is going to have a focus on comedy. That was always something I liked about AoStH and the earliest Archie issues of StH. Definitely looking forward to this!

Whoa, I didn't expect something like this to happen. I'm quite interested. What's next, Rayman? Ever since I played Rayman Legends, I would love to see an animated series with that game's lovely artstyle.

The designs are pretty distinct from each other. Knuckles's silhouette has some muscle and broad shoulders and Sonic's silhouette looks likes it's wearing a vest. Considering that I can easily tell them apart just by their silhouettes, I say this is a good thing. Other than that, there's not much info to go by.

What is with those designs!? What the heck did they do to Knuckles !

And is Sonic wearing a jacket .

Still, having a show with my favorite video game character on my favorite cartoon network is practically a dream come true! Then again, I'm not a huge fan of CGI shows with 11-minute episodes. I'll be cautiously optimistic about this.

I think it's likely that they'll use the current game cast for the show, for consistency, which is the reverse of what happened for Sonic X.

It will be a waste of time. Knuckles looks like some alien from Ben 10, so it fits.

Quite hyped! But then Knuckles is trying to ruin that hype...

Can't wait to see it. Hopefully, they can get Roger Craig Smith to voice Sonic.

Yeah I agree I am not liking even the shadow of Knuckles design (really I understand Knuckles is the strong man character but it works better if he still has the same basic body shape and height as the other characters) and am also worried that this is another Co production with France as Underground is by far the weakest of the four Sonic series but yeah as a Sonic fan I am really looking forward to this. It's nice to see that this will be a focus on just the core characters and not bothering to have any excess at least mentioned at the get go (I hope if they do have other characters they'll just stick to the games and if there are new characters it will just be enemies. Well I also really would want them to have Archie characters but I doubt we'll get that) and hey the idea of it being an action comedy really does work. Since actually the scripts for the latest Sonic comics and even games like Colors and Generations were funny so let's hope that comedy is kept here. Though I hope that if it is a show starring Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles it actually has all of them being a part of the action in some way and isn't like the recent games where Sonic does all the "heavy lifting" as it were. I'm still going to be hopeful for this as hey CN has some good shows on now and the fact they're making these 11 minuters means they're fitting them in more with the regular CN shows. Plus hey CN made a great acqustion pick with How To Train your Dragon so let's hope they do the same with Sonic.

The redesigns are...interesting. But, I hope this show feels a little more like the TMNT show, or at least as good as that.

I'm not a video game buff in anyway, so Sonic to me is a minority, but heck... I like this a lot! Will be a lazy 10-11 months, but when it comes, watch out world!

Find out more here: SEGA Blog | Sonic Boom (Working Title) – A New Animated Series Coming Fall 2014

The series premieres next fall, I am absolutely geeked to find out that CN will have one of the biggest names in video game history airing on their channel!

This is real big for Cartoon Network, picking up Sonic Boom, as it's set to debut in Fall 2014. Now for voice-over talent, I'm still thinking Bobb'e J. Thompson as Sonic, Greg Cipes as Knuckles, Zendaya as Sally Acorn and Kevin M. Richardson as Dr. Robotnik- we'll see how it all plays out, but I have a feeling there will be more big announcements for upcoming programming on CN, so on that note, stay tuned.

It doesn't look like Sally is involved.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
