Television Presentation Thread

To Virgin Media subscribers in Ireland, they probably don’t know what is ITV1 (since for years, they had UTV).
Well, they are not completely unknown to the Irish public either, unless they don't live in a bubble

Plus, ITV3 and ITV4 are available on Irish cable
But not ITV2 anymore
I wouldn't say equivalent to UK Gold in both phases. Although it tried adding old US series to attract a higher audience, the channel was stagnant even during its last year on air.
Yeah, nothing in common between the two, graphic influences asides

Bizarre, ITV 2 is less likely to have rights blocks compared to ITV 4 (because of sports). I don't know if ITV 4 has been blocked in Ireland as of late, but I do know that, because of its rugby broadcasts, S4C has been removed from SKY (it wasn't on cable) a few years ago.

S4C was carried on a few local cable providers in Ireland back in the day, including one in Cork. Plus, the channel is still carried via satellite (although not on Sky’s EPG) in Ireland, due to it being free-to-air.

It was about Virgin Media in the Republic of Ireland (ROI) wanting more exposure for VM Two/Three/Four

I think some programmes are geoblocked, but I can't check currently :D

Yeah

Satellite is (or was) superpopular in ROI, and there all the FTA channels can be added on secondary channels, and many do

I mean the removal of ITV 2 was likely a ploy for VM's secondary terrestrial channels to grow.

It was.

Less competition for the same programming

And ITV was fine with this, as they sell their programmes to them.
VM Ireland is nothing but ITV in disguise, managed slightly differently

It is also the only way to legally watch Channel 5, the rest of the BBC family and ITV channels (including UTV, which was an available on UPC until 2015) and such if they want to watch the UK channels.
Even UTV Ireland had a good enough look for the trainwreck it was
And that was before TV3 took full ownership of the channel and renamed it to Be3.

This is, hands down, the best bumper package Irish TV ever had.

It's "good", I love the concept, but it could have been executed MUCH better

No one will ever notice that those two presentations are the same but recoloured, r-right?

Oh Sony, first you had Sony Turbo and Cine Sony (now Sony Cine) rocking the exact same presentation, now you have Sony Movies and Sony PIX with the same, identical set but in two different colours (but Sony Cine got something actually different?)

(Also, Sony Movies LATAM did actually get to reuse the bumpers of the now gone British Sony Movies Action and Sony Movies Classics! Actually nice.)

I really like the bumpers that the French channel W9 had from its launch in 2005 to 2018. Clearly the local audience did too, since they were such long runners. I’m a huge stickler for branding where the logo is the centrepiece of the entire branding, and changes its colours to suit whatever is being promoted.

However I’m not sold on the jingle they had from 2012 onwards. It grows very old very quickly.

Anyway, according to AXN Polska's Facebook page, the new design is already complete.
It only applied to the promos. Some elements do look similar to the ones used by Spain and Portugal, such as the 2D logo animation. If the idents would change, I hope they can make ones similar to the two mentioned countries.
The Hungarian feed didn't change (2nd video).

Speaking of AXN: in April, the sub-channels launched separate Czech feeds.

I honestly feel that the full 2D logo for AXN is kinda odd...? LATAM didn't go in that direction (...they should have gone Sony AXN there, oof. Just get the full set with Sony Channel and Sony Movies...) and like this, you find yourself with two different presentation sets for the Sony-owned AXN channels. (AXN LATAM ends to kinda match with Sony Channel and Sony Movies, though, so, I guess, it's still a win?)

Reminds me of UKG²'s idents from 2003.

Speaking of international presentations, this right here was a promo for Canal 1's forthcoming rebrand as RTP1 back in April 1996. You can tell that RTP decided to rebrand both of their channels after realising that they were losing viewers to SIC, following the latter channel's launch in 1992 and this was also five months before TVI's major rebrand.

Starting from today, Metropola TV introduces the brand new (modernized) identity package. Some pieces are still used from the 2024 package.

MTV3 Finland has made a little rebrand. Promos still pretty much have the old look because it's similar to the new one but the next bumpers have gotten a nice new refresh. And they show more than three programs now that are coming up so that's a nice upgrade.
