The Legend of Korra "Beyond the Wilds" Talkback [11/28/14]

Wait, I forgot. How is this HIS fault?

When whoever is in charge of a government dies, resigns, or is removed from their position of power, someone else is going to want the power for themselves.

By killing the Earth Queen, he caused a power vacuum, and Kuvira seized it. That's how it's his fault.

He was asking about how it was Raiku's fault, not Zaheer. Zaheer is at the root of this problem though since he murdered the Earth Queen. If it wasn't for that, the Earth Kingdom wouldn't have a dictator to deal with right now.

I don't think it was a matter of Suyin wanting to live in luxury while the Earth Kingdom was torn apart. She didn't want to be seen by the people as someone who wanted power like Kuriva. Not doing anything wasn't the best idea, but I don't think it was significantly worse than how Kuriva has handled the situation. She has united the Earth Kingdom, but at a pretty horrible price that ends up making the people suffer more and she's basically a dictator.

Yes, that's my point. She would rather protect her self righteous image of herself than actually solve problems by taking action. In the episode, she argued that she didn't want to be someone that imposed their will on others, but she wasn't willing to accept that as the cost of the greater good.

Also, I didn't say before, but I really liked Zaheer in this episode. "I learned the ability to fly, but now I'm in chains." How ironic. I also find it very telling of Korra's character that she needed to see someone like Zaheer to face her fears, and accept what happened. Her lack of spiritual education that the previous avatars had really shows.

I don't think her preference was in protecting her self-righteous image so much as it was she lacked the potential to be authoritarian when it was called for. In order to stabilize other parts of the Earth Kingdom, Suyin would have had to demand order. I don't know how she managed to build Zaofu though. At some point an authority figure would have been necessary to set and enforce rules.

A bit late, but my recap for this episode is up. I feel like Book 4 is handling its plot at a snail's pace, but at least it's progressing which is better than none. Maybe I'll feel differently if I were to marathon the whole thing in an upcoming blu-ray release or something.

A snails pace is right. That really had me worried from the start of the season that either nothing particularly special will happen that requires a sophisticated build up, or that they would have to rush the conclusion.

Thank you, Romania, we thought the film will never see the light of day here. Still, why are you waiting some more and launching the film days later than in good ol America?

Today marks the 5th Year Anniversary of the HD Version of Skyward Sword. I appreciated how the HD Version of the game included quality of life improvements such as the option to use button controls.
You know at this point we really need to admit it is never coming home.
