For a sequel it wasn't bad.

In fact I remember reading that the film was originally going to be a theatrical release (with the original being Disney's most successful film), but something was changed up and it was relegated to a straight to video release. It would make sense, as some parts of the movie look stunning, but other scenes didn't seem to be as favored by the budget allocations (one scene in particular in the "We Are One" number stands out).

Zira's song and He Lives in You are fantastical. Everything else is mostly forgettable, though. Such is a Disney sequel.

I liked this sequel, but really feel it could have been so much better if it fleshed out some stuff. Like who the father of Zira's kids were, where the heck Scars followers came from, etc.I also feel that if they removed "Upendi", and put back in a couple of the deleted scenes (the full version of the brother's death, Zira's suicide) and made the ending a wee bit more convincing...just made the movie a little longer, it could have been so much better!

I enjoyed the animation and a couple of the songs, but the rest was disappointing to me. The dialogue definitely could have been better, and parts of the story were never fully explained (like who Kovu's father was).

Meh it was an ok film not my favorite cheapsequal though
Animation was good at least and I did like the relationship that was formed between Simbas daughter and the villains son or whatver he is. Forgive me its been far to long since I've seen any of the Lion King films LOL.

Why would that need to be explained?

They never said who Nala's father was either.

Unfortunately, most of the family trees in these movies will never make sense.
