[Spider-Man]

Has there been any word on the next X-Men: Evolution DVD for this year? There's one more DVD to go until the second season is done. There's five more episodes left of the season. Shouldn't we get an announcement on another one soon?

I'd expect it to be announced soon, for a late November, or possibly early December release, to cash in on Spider-Man 2.

I wonder if these independent releases, not released by Disney, have anything to do with the lawsuit that's going on between them and Marvel. Still I would like to get my hands on these especially for The Hobgoblin two-parter.

TvShowsOnDVD reports that these releases are not DVD quality, but are better than VHS. So keep that in mind when compairing to the Disney releases. Here's a list of what I recommend buying, just as a reference.

Spider-Man - The Cat

PLUS! Episode #403: "Partners In Danger Chapter 3: The Black Cat "

Spider-Man - Enter the Green Goblin
Episode #304: "Sins of the Fathers Chapter 4: Enter the Green Goblin"
PLUS! Episode #408: "Partners In Danger Chapter 8: The Return Of The Green Goblin"

- Both of these are available on Disney releases with extra episodes to make the higher price worth it. Not to mention Stan Lee intros.


Spider-Man - The Hobgoblin
Episode #110: "The Hobgoblin, Part 1"
PLUS! Episode #111: "The Hobgoblin, Part 2"

Spider-Man - Kraven the Hunter
Episode #109: "Kraven The Hunter"

- Both of these may be coming soon from Disney. The Hobgoblin will most likely be in The Venom Saga, as clips from it were on the preview. Spider-Man - I Really Hate Clones

- These are the only two that have not even been hinted at a Disney release. In fact, I doubt Disney will release Spider Wars anytime soon becuase it ends the series and Disney logic suggests releasing it would end support for their releases.

Ok, I picked up I Really Hate Clones. Here are some things:

1. No disc menu. If you hit DM, the screen just goes black.
2. There is one opening, and one closing.
3. There were around 10 chapter stops, which is far more than Disney's.

Also, the guy at MP checked the computer, and some company called Meka (or something like that) released it.

As for the video and audio quality:

Video 4/5: The video looked really good most of the time, but there were times the lines got jumpidy (is that even a word?), so it made some pictures blurry.

Audio 5/5: The audio was awesome, especially on Pro Logic. There were sounds coming from the side speakers often, which improved on it.

Also, I think this is a DVD-R because it played fine on my Akai and Samsung players, but it only played 30 seconds on my Sony player before freezing up. My Sony player is the only one that has problems playing DVD-Rs, so that is why I think it is one.

Regardless, it is nice to be able to get rid of that tape I had recorded the finale on when it first aired. Although the episodes (and the whole series) are not as good as they used to be, it was still cool to see Spider-Carnage and the Goblins again.

I rate the disc a 4/5, but like I said, I do think they are DVD-Rs.

So these are DVD-Rs? Then how are they allowed to be sold if they are not official copies or anything? Is there a corner logo on these DVDs? I wonder where a copy of the episodes without the network logo could be obtained to make these DVD-Rs. I am also surprised that Marvel hasn't released any kind of a formal statement on these.

hmm...all sounds kinda dodgy to me. Im not complaining, at least SOMEONE released them back onto the market.

I live inthe UK and there is a box set available for 4 DVDs each with different adventures. I think its:

the green goblin
spiderman vs daredevil
doc ock
...can't remember the fourth...

If anyone cares, i'll post it up when i go buy it.

Anyone else seen these? Perhaps in the US?

I live in the UK too, as far as I know, the box set is simply the other 3 DVDs in a new box, they might have redone it with the new Doc Ock DVD, if it is 4 discs.

And it's in the US too, if only they'd release a real box set

well i've got to say, at this point in time i'm glad i live in the UK as they constantly re-run spiderman:TAS, xmen: TAS and some others constantly

Im glad they're releasing these DVDs because i've been kind of annoyed about the ending of the spiderman TAS. Im the kind of person who gets obsessed with stuff lol, and this is just one of those things.

Despite the low chances, i am going to approach marvel to release some kind of conclusion to this series, if i can find enough people interested.

Also, didn't marvel (pretty sure it was marvel) release the spider slayers and the venom arc's on VHS a few years ago? Or did i make this up?

Marvel released a whole bunch of Spider-Man: TAS videos a couple of years ago. There was:

Probably the same way Cine-Vu got away with selling bootlegs of Godzilla movies on Amazon for a few months before having them pulled. And I don't mean Marketplace, I mean actual Amazon.

Guys, these are not going to be illegal copies if they are being sold at Suncoast & Sam Goody stores. There is probably just some legal loophole that allows this company to sell the DVDs even though Disney has the rights.

The VHS tapes that Kolbar mentioned above (Yes, VHS...NOT DVDs) were not released by Disney even though Disney had the rights at that time as well. I think those tapes were released by a Canadian company. And I bet THAT is the loophole: A different company in another countries CAN have the rights to the show and there is nothing to stop U.S. retail outlets from ordering their merchandise if they want to.

I would agree with you, but there are some problems:

There is not one compnay logo except Marvel listed on the DVD
There is no region coding listed
There is nothing but copyright info saying all rights belong to Marvel
There is no copyright warning message in French (if there was one at all)

If these were released in Canada, it would have at least something saying "For sale or rent in Canada..." and also have a region code listed. I have seen Canadian DVDs, and they all had Copyright warning signs in English and French when you played it. Plus they would have a rating symbol on it regardless of what it is.

So, why didn't they do S1 when X2 was out in theaters, and start on S2 when the movie was out on DVDs.

Slighty Off Topic- I just hope we get a Box Set of The 1967 Fantastic Four Cartoon to coincide with the movie. It's all up to Hanna Barbara/WB.

Why? There's only five more episodes to release and waiting two years to release it is pretty pointless. Besides, WB did say they plan to release these DVDs a few times a year and I bet the last S2 DVD will come before the year is up.
