Off topic, but slightly relevant. Why is Gargoyles getting a set while Spidey gets the shaft? Is Gargoyles good or something?

Gargoyles has a loyal following and is a DISNEY OWNED property. It makes sense that they would want to invest in characters they created and own. The more exposure they get, the more popular they become. I'd also be willing to bet that it is a better show than Spider-Man: TAS.

Speaking of updates, Jim put up some news about the X-Men: Evolution DVD coming out Tuesday. It looks like WB is already working on season three which is comforting to hear! Since there is only about 22 episodes left to go on DVD I hope we can get them all before the end of 2005.

Try 2006...they're releasing at about 1/quarter. Two more seasons at 4 discs each = 2006 to get the entire run...

"DISNEY OWNED" being the operative words there...Disney owns LOTS of licenses I'd like to see dvds for (Spider-Man, 90's X-Men, and Dungeons & Dragons, for example). They buy up the licenses and then SIT on them in order to keep competition away from THEIR dvd offerings (as well as being able to count the license fees as a "loss" against profits in other areas on their taxes)...

Not really. Season Three is only nine episodes long and season four is thirteen. I don't think they are going to squeeze eight more releases out of 23 episodes. I wouldn't be surprised if we get all 23 episodes in three - four more DVDs.

WB has been releasing X-Men Evolution in production order, not broadcast. That makes season three 13 episodes and season four 9 episodes. I'm willing to bet that there will be three releases for season three spread out over 2005 and two releases for season four out by mid-2006.

I have a feeling that WB is going to be putting more episodes on DVD now. The put five on the last so maybe they'll put the same amount or even more on the next one. It'd be nice to see WB do this. And since I assume sales slip with each successive volume they probably want to pump these out as fast as they can to keep interest.

I was just on Amazon.com and noticed that Mystique's Revenge also comes in a Mini DVD. Is there any reason this is worth buying over the regular sized disk?

Well, it's not in a snapper. That will likely be reason enough for some people .

I don't see any. There are only three episodes on the disc and they are the last three from the third season. Besides you can probably get the regular DVD version of this for the same price that Amazon has listed. These mini-discs seem like a waste of money in my opinion.

I just wish WB would get on to announcing the next DVD set for X-Men: Evolution.

Also I watched the Gargoyles: The First Season DVD and it contains the trailer for the delayed Spider-Man: The Venom Saga. I can assume now we're not getting this right? Is this going to disappear like that second X-Men DVD Disney denied us?

When Disney was asked this very question, they said it was not currently on thier release schedule.

Perhaps they did intend to release it but the current lawsuit between them and Marvel has forced the delay of the disc.

Since alot of people here seem to be upset by this then let them know! Send them an email asking (or demanding) when or if the DVD will be released. If they are still advertising it then they must have plans for it or else they'd erase all mention of it.

I sent them an email through there away ago mainly expressing my disappointment at delaying this release in Region 1 and expressing my hopes that the DVD will still see the light of day. Even if they lose the rights to produce these it seems like a waste to have all these DVDs just sit in a warehouse somewhere collecting dust.

No and it sounds like this lawsuit could take awhile. I remember when Marvel last went against Disney we never even heard the resulting verdict. I don't remember seeing it anywhere online.

If they keep to the established schedule, the last one was in late Nov, so it'll be late Feb or March...

one in the summer and last one sometime near xmas again

that should complete season 3 and hopefully 2 more the year after, i cant imagine WB releasing more than 4 episodes per disc, they will want to squeeze as much money out of us as they can

WB has a lot of other shows comming out in 2005 for their big anniversary, so don't be surprised if less profitable releases like these get put on the back burner.
