Well that was an interesting episode with some laughs, but once again Homer becomes more of a jerk who doesn't deserve to be married to Marge. I mean would Peter Griffen even of done that?

Anyways, this was a really strange episode. The jab at George Lucas in the first act seemed to be really forced (and is bound to piss off some Star Wars fans). Homer's singing went on a bit too long, but I didn't mind that much because it was still kinda humerous. The actual plot, after the random Star Wars parody was pretty solid, and it didn't become too much of a rehash of past drinking-themed episodes.

Grade: B/B+

The Star Wars parody in the start was awesome!

I like how the parody of Lucas sounded a little like the Comic Book Guy. It was kinda creepy.

Edit: Sweet! The episode playing immediately after, with the bear attack, has actor Charles Napier doing a voice!

Some great stuff in this episode.

I'm a Star Wars fan, and still enjoyed the whole opening act with the George Lucas look-a-like and the whole movie.

Other funny jokes were Homer drinking from the Bible and it get getting replaced with a real bible. (WHY, GOD, WHY?!!? )

At least he regretted it. And he was drunk at the time, too. And he had some logic to back it up, really. He's been arrested for DUI too many times. ...and he was drunk. It's not really unbelievable.

This episode... I'd say it was another step up towards classic Simpsons. I was worried for a while with Marge becoming a drinker, but at the end it made sense because they explained how she was only drinking because it was the only way for her to have fun with Homer.
And it was pretty funny to complement the good characterizations and down-to-earth story. Again, another step up for the season. And there was no noticeable season-13-drag-down like in the third act of "Smart and Smarter" (the giant human body thing felt a little weird, even though I didn't think it was long enough to have a serious negative impact on the episode). Everything was pretty well-paced.

The parts I remember laughing out loud at were when Moe was poking Homer with the stick and asked "So did you see the game last night?" and when Barney gave Marge the chimney pamphlet (and the subsequent comments, which I don't care to reproduce here).

The Star Wars prequel parody was overall good (especially Comic Book Guy's part in it), even though it seemed kind of like it's a few years too late... but then again, there IS still a third prequel coming out (Remember? Anyone? That other epic trilogy that's been going on?).

Homer's singing went on a bit too long, but I didn't mind that much because it was still kinda humerous.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that part. They were really walking a fine line there. But I didn't quite feel that horrible uncomfortableness I felt during most of season 13. It was a close call, though. But it all seemed to serve a purpose, eventually. Still should've been shorter.

I dunno about you guys, but this episode was quite annoying. About the only thing worth laughing about was in the Star Wars spoof. And that was about how short 'lucas' was.

Homer on hold was almost as bad as his screaming in "The Blunder Years."

I thought this was a good episode. Speaking as a Star Wars fan, I enjoyed the parody that they did. The part when Homer confessed everything to Moe was also good.

I think it was good but the need more time. When Marge went to that place I looked at the clock and it only had 6 minutes left they should have got to the plot faster. It was funny though

Very true. The main plot needed a little bit more time.

A nice throwback to the pacing and character building of earlier episodes, but most of the jokes fell flat with me, and the fact that the Star Wars sub-plot died after the first act was disappointing. I wanted them to play with that idea a lot more... then again this sort of idea was done on South Park...
Best Joke: Marge saying how she couldn't even enjoy Oktoberfest without drinking!

I for one am one of the few people who didn't like the Star Wars sub-plot for a few good reasons:

1. You can say it was either too long (some room could have been used to develop the plot of Marge becoming an alcoholic) or too short (the whole episode, while keeping the main ideas of the third act, could've been set in Northern California).

2. The resolution to the sub-plot (Cosmic Wars' creator realizing that he doesn't need to soup up his films past and present in order for them to be great) was already done (to a better effect) on South Park.

3. A obvious hole in the story: why would the Simpsons need a Star Wars rip-off when the film series already exists in Springfield (see I Married Marge, Mayored to the Mob, etc.)?

I thought this was an okay episode. I missed most of the Lucas parody. I did get to see Marge and Homer throwing Lucas though.

Agreed on both counts. Not only did South Part did it before, they did it better too.

The fact that they used a phony version of Star Wars was lame too. I expect this from a run of a mill Saturday Morning cartoon, not from the Simpsons. The first act alone was enough to turned me off from the rest of the show. Why did they even bother?

No, that one was mainly going after the retouches of the originals. This one was a direct jab at Lucas's latest creations. I liked it, actually. Go guys, go! It still won't change Lucas's mind, though. And I don't think he's that short...

Many parts of the episode were good; although we got some real stinkers for jokes here and there. Most notably, anything Moe said this episode. I don't remember what the first gag he said was, but it was baaaad.

Apparently in the next show, Bart goes to jail. Get ready for the most far-fetched sequence of events EVER that get him there, sigh...

One more thing: they also ran this Bernie Mac promo where Bernie said he was okay with Fox mixing the timeslot of his show around as long as Fox kept giving him gifts. Uh...your decision pal, but it's killed many a series and not all the Cuban cigars in the world can lift you from unemployment.

I believe he goes to juvenile hall, not prison. And considering how Bart should of already been sent there years ago ten times over, it is actually makes sense.

This wasn't the greatest episode, but considering how strong the season has been I can forgive it. I really liked the Star Wars parody mimmicking those galactic senate meetings which seem to take up all of Episode I. I loved how the Lucas guy was so tiny.

About the main plot it was okay. I understand why Marge liked drinking so she could hang out with Homer. I also understand why Homer let Marge take the fall with the DUI. Being drunk and stupid is not a good combination. However he should have told her about it sooner. (Like when she got out of jail.) Still, it wasn't nearly as horrible as some of the things Peter on Family Guy has done. I also loved how Moe was really upset with him. It's nice to see Moe take on the role of sympathetic bartender even if his sympathy didn't lie with Homer. The problem here was that all that drinking was so depressing. I'll give it *** out of *****. (**1/2 out of ****.)
