Preview of "The Pit"

I think this will be an intriguing episode, and it's always nice to see a character from the OS make it to the 2011 series. Now all we need is to get Lynx-O and Bengali together and the group will be fully fleshed out. Definitely ordering this off iTunes when available.

Still, I have to be a little irritated with Pumyra's initial behavior of blaming Lion-O and accusing him of abandoning the Thunderians to the point of attempted murder (and getting him jailed with her) when it's not his fault to begin with and he's been following Jaga's orders to get the Book and the Stones to help his people. Pumyra literally threw away a chance to escape in that second clip and dragged Lion-O in with her. It's funny how a lot of Tygra fans claim that Lion-O has it easy because he has the crown when it's pretty implied Lion-O's been Thundera's "Butt Monkey" to the point his own father was disapproving of him, so if anything, he's been getting a rather unfair portion of everyone's ire. And I'd wish it'd stop.

Thundera's being attacked by a massive lizard army? It's Lion-O's fault!
Pumyra's a gladiator slave? It's Lion-O's fault!
Fellow Thunderians lost their home and many men, women, and children were killed? It's Lion-O's fault!
We're still unable to find the other two Power Stones? It's Lion-O's fault!
Mumm-Ra's getting stronger? It's Lion-O's fault!

I'm starting to think the Thunderian creed is "when in doubt, blame Lion-O".

They really don't know the truth. What they know is their king was killed in an attack from the lizards as Grune betrayed them. They know that Lion O and a few others escaped but might thing they are cowards that ran away and don't know Lion-O is trying to save his people.

Blaming Lion-O is sadly the easiest thing for a living Thundarian to do. Thinking of him as the "cowardly prince that doomed us all"

It sucks for Lion-O but it is not unrealistic.

Been looking forward to this episode for a while. It will be nice to see another classic character re-versioned for the show especially since the new versions of Jackalman and Monkian have been awesome.

I'm starting to think the Warrior Maidens are never going to appear. In fact, I'm not even sure the creators of this version of Thundercats ever intended to have them.


Oh well, it's cool we'll see Pumyra, so that has to mean Lynxo or Bengali will appear soon...

If anything, I'm expecting Lion-O to continue his "Did Not Get the Girl" status, and find out that as he's developing feelings for Pumyra, it turns out she then begins a relationship with Bengali (another Tiger) or Panthro (the other single male Thundercat).

And hence, Lion-O's continual shafting with go on.

Thundercats News and Speculation Thread

San Diego Comic-con has come and gone and we still have no firm information on the fate of Thundercats. Will Lion-O and his pride of lions continue to fight on for Third Earth or has the series ended with the betrayal of Lion-O's would-be lover?

Although Thundercats itself hasn't been confirmed for renewal, it certainly has gotten a ton of new toy announcements. Could this be a positive indicator that Cartoon Network is trying to keep the series a live?

I didn't hear about any of the new toys for ThunderCats, but that's pretty cool. Even so, I think that it's pretty unlikely that the show is going to get a new season. I think we would have heard something official about it by now and most significantly, either the producer or the executive producer has moved onto the new Teen Titans series. That, along with the lack of an official ruling on the show's future, makes it really unlikely for a second season to be made. I honestly do think that's too bad since the show could have gotten better with another season, but considering how I felt that it rarely lived up to its potential from the premiere and the pacing was way too fast for my tastes at the beginning, I'm not too upset that it only got one season too.

There wasn't any new Thundercats toy news that has come out recently, just the minimates based on the classic show, nothing special. Last I heard was that the Bandai toyline was discontinued.

A CN rep said the show isn't dead and it will come back, but I'm not sure I believe her.

The thing that does really scary me is all the new toys that we saw at SDCC were all modeled off the original series.

There's two possibilities for these releases that are rolling around in my head. Either:

#1.) CN is trying to see if there is ANY interest in the series enough to go buy merchandise.

#2.) CN is simply riding the marketing end of the franchise to a conclusion.

The difference? One means CN still has interest in continuing the series, the other means CN is done are just trying to get any remaining capital out they can.

I just don't think there's enough information to really know one way or the other. I wonder if no news is bad news or no news is good news.

Meh there's nothing special about the new releases. It's just high end collectible stuff. Statues were getting made before this new show was getting produced.

I hope it comes back, its honestly my favorite Show on CN, i've bought both DVDs the day they came out and plan to pre-order V3 when I can. I really hope they don't cut this show, and that we get some news about it at the upcoming Thundercats Convention in.... September I think.

Also I would hate to know I live in a world where great shows like T-Cats get canned and garbage like Annoying Orange stays on (Which I know stuff like that happens all the time, but still..it would be pretty sad impo)

I think in this case, no news is bad news. For a matter of a show's continuation, there really needs to be more signs than new toys being released and the fact that they were modeled after the original series as opposed to the new one really doesn't help either. Plus, I think that Cartoon Network would have mentioned something definite about it if they were planning to continue the series by this point. I don't really see much signs pointing towards a possible second season right now. It isn't impossible, but it looks really unlikely at this point.

Having seen AA, does 'funny' actually apply?

It bugs me. T-Cats wasn't perfect, but you can see they put a lot of thought and effort into it; animation and story-wise. It's freakin' 2012; the quality stuff like this, YJ, Korra, A: EMH, it should be the rule, not the exception.
