"Tiny Toons Looniversity" News & Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Kinda interesting that most here defending the change also seem to have no interest in watch the reboot, and/or think it shouldn't exist, Not trying to flame, just the vibe i'm getting from this thread.

Anywho, For me personally, Babs, and Buster's romance in the original was barely a thing, so i'm ok with the change, The "no relations" gag may be gone, but as long as their character dynamic is the same, i'm fine with it. Reading the Gizmo article, it seems like the people working on the reboot are fans of the original so i think the show is it good hands, the aspects of meta humor, and pop culture satire of classic Looney Tunes seem to be next-to-nonexistent in recent iterations, So i'm glad to have Tiny Toons and Animaniacs back to fill that niche.
I'm not defending the change. I'm defending the creator's right to make it. That's an entirely different thing. I personally think the change is silly and arbitrary. But the creators have every right to do it.

Just a question: For those fans, who liked the original "whatever," and want shows like the ones they grew up on, where can they go to find those type of programs when it seems like none of the studios are "making them like they used to?"

Do you still have a DVD player? Just sayin'...

You can't live in the past. Like our childhoods, that time is over and it's not coming back. Your best bet is to simply look around and hope to find something that appeals to your personal tastes.
There is nothing around that appeals to my personal tastes. Or I haven't found it yet.

That just sounds like nostalgia to me. The stuff you grew up with is always going to be special to you, and nothing is "like it used to be". That's just how time works: time is like an arrow: it only goes in one direction: forward. You're never going to get shows that were like the ones you watched as a kid because you're no longer a kid and that world doesn't exist anymore. You want to see shows like the ones you grew up watching? Make your own show ideas and stories and do them in the style that you're craving. If no one's making the kind of stuff you want to see, use that as incentive to make your own.
Sounds reasonable. But I'm not sure about that time going in one direction, "forward." Some believe that time is circular, that what happened in the past will happen again. The Andy Griffith Show was popular before, and will be so in the future. Respect must be given to the shoulders we have built our favorite tv shows upon.

That's your issue to deal with, not the networks, producers or creators. They are businesses, executives and artists, not your parents. It's not their job to cater to your specific tastes nor to coddle your nostalgia bones.

Just a wee bit on the overdramatic side, dontcha think? I don't recall anyone disrespecting anything (unless you're referring to WB turning Buster and Babs into twins, which isn't disrespecting anyone or anything, it's just a creative decision that they're making, and since it's their studio, show and characters, they're entitled to do so, but by the same token, you're under no obligation to watch this show).

The only advice I can muster to you is to echo @Daikun's point: if the shows you dig are available on DVD, Blu-Ray or digital download, then get the DVDs, Blu-Rays or digital downloads. If there's a service that's legally streaming the shows you like, then sign up for that service and stream them. Beyond that, like I said earlier, you could always just make your own stuff so you'll be guaranteed to get the kind of entertainment you want. Beyond that, I don't know what to tell you. The fact that no current shows appeal to you isn't anyone's issue but yours.

But I think this is veering off-topic from Tiny Toons Looniversity, and I see this conversation going nowhere fast, so these will be my final words on this particular subject.

I'm not defending the change. Warner Bros. decision to re-imagine Babs and Buster as twins is a unique one that I honestly don't know how to feel about, but ultimately, it's their show and their call.

Some fans of Tiny Toon Adventures don't like WB's decision. I get that. What I don't get are these same fans trying to contact WB demanding that the studio reverse their decision. In 1998, I saw the premiere episode of Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain and didn't laugh once. I thought that P,E&tB sucked, so I never watched any of the other episodes. What I didn't do was try to complain to KIds' WB directly to try and get them to take the show off the air. I get that you don't like WB's decision, but none of you are in a position to make any kind of demands, nor are any of us the intended audience for Tiny Toons Looniversity. This show may be a reboot of that you used to enjoy, but it's being made for kids, not for us. If Buster and Babs being re-imagined as siblings is truly a deal breaker for you, then just don't watch the show. Just stick to the original Tiny Toons, if that's the one that you prefer. It's not hard. It's perfectly fine if you don't care for this change, but just being fans of the original TTA doesn't mean that you get to tell WB Studios what they can or can't do with their own properties. WB doesn't owe you anything. You don't have to like WB's creative decisions, but you don't have to watch or even acknowledge this new series either. I mean no offense to anyone. We're all friends here, but adults shouldn't need to be told this.

Same here. The so-called "shipper" moments between Babs and Buster were so sporadic that the 2 of them barely felt like a couple in my eyes. At the most there was some mild flirtation, and since I don't ship characters anyway, there doesn't need to be anything romantic about their relationship for me.

And yeah, I'll concede that I don't think that that Tiny Toons Looniversity needs to exist. Tiny Toon Adventures was fine. Animaniacs was fine, but they're both products of the 1990s that didn't/don't need to be rebooted. I'm not going to think any less of anyone who wants to watch TTL, but as long as we're getting new Looney Tunes stuff, that's good enough for me personally. Also, like @Silverstar said a few posts earlier, I'm personally burned out with every show from the 90s and 00s getting rebooted. Maybe TV could chill with the reboots for a while so they can feel special again.

I know this has not been announced yet, but on 0:06, notice when Eric Bauza says someone special, he doesn't use Daffy's signature frontal lisp but Plucky's back lisp so he could be voicing both Daffy and Plucky in this

A new clip from the first episode.

Me after watching the clip for about 18 seconds: "Eeeehhh,.....nah, I'm good. I'm out. Buh-bye."

(though I will say the new voices for Buster and Babs are...fine, but that's the only nice thing I can say about it. :/)

Bland Flash (or similar program) animation, lame gags, and Buster's voice doesn't hold a candle to the original. Need more than 46 seconds to form a full opinion, but it's not a good first impression.

On the plus side, Babs sounds okay- at least Ashleigh Crystal Hairston sounds somewhat similar to Tress MacNeille. And I do like how they're using the full orchestra a la Animaniacs 2020.

Hmmm...

While you can tell it's not Tress MacNeille, Ashleigh Crystal Hairston does a good job of replicating that same energy and tone.

Buster's new voice, however, sounds nothing like Charlie Adler. No similarity whatsoever. Is this why Andrea Romano didn't want Mr. Adler to voice Buster initially? Is this the voice she originally had in mind for Buster?

Also, neither of them are wearing gloves now!

I'll reserve any judgment on Looniversity until I've seen more than a few seconds, but so far it's looking to be pretty much what I expected: interesting but unnecessary.

Apparently, it might be Eric Bauza because someone lowered the pitch of their voices and Buster sounded a bit like Eric’s speaking voice.

I feel like Eric could probably do a voice closer to Buster's old one, but I guess that might be how he's being directed.

This is probably fake, peoples. Or not actually going to be part of the show proper.
