TMNT III is a very underrated movie (by TMNT standards). People just hate on it because there's no Shredder.

Neither did TMNT (2007) but the tutles fanbase for the most part enjoyed that movie. Even without shredder.

Ouch on Next Mutation being omitted when nearly every bit of the fandom, even the obscure ones like the animes, were included. :p For me, as a kid I liked some of it, but after a bit it just felt off. Also Venus, while an potentially interesting concept, just didn't hold my interest. It's been a dog's age since I've seen the show, so I can't immediately remember what irked me about its later bits. Though I did laugh at all the hilarious sounds Bonesaw (?) made in an episode where he had captured Mikey. Stupid it may be, but hey I laughed.

Oh, is there any place where I can find out Eastman and Laird's thoughts on Next Mutation? Or can anyone fill me in? I've heard they really do not like it in the least.

I didn't know there was a TMNT anime until a few people pointed it out. Is it any good?

What was wrong with the movie? Everytime I ask this (not just here, but in other places) nobody can describe why.

The first movie had great action, the second toned it down a bit but was still pretty good for comedic fighting but the third really took the cake with slapstick and while that in of itself didn't make the movie bad it certainly didn't make it better.

The suits were nowhere near as great as the Henson ones but I can forgive them for that since they still worked fine.

The storyline was just kinda... meh. I actually liked how they incorporated Japanese culture but the characters weren't very memorable nor likable.

The comedy wasn't really up to par with the previous two movies either though it had it's moments and some of the best known one-liners from the TMNT movies "help I'm a turtle and I can't get up" and "I think I swallowed a frog" for instance. And the culture shock for the samurai hanging out with Casey was at least somewhat amusing.

The sub-plot that some of the turtles didn't want to go back home was one of the more interesting parts of the movie. Not shockingly this was yet again something else Leonardo and Raphael didn't see eye to eye on.

The relationship between Raphael and the little boy Yoshi did a fair job of showing Raph's softer side.

The final battle made Shredder's pathetic losses in the first two movies look impressive by comparison.

All and all it's not a BAD movie in my opinion but it's easily the worst of the 4 (I'd rank it TMNT I > TMNT 2007 > TMNT II > TMNT III personally).

It's one of the most light hearted incarnations of TMNT to be sure and that's already off-putting to some fans but it's not even really good at being light hearted entertainment but it at least it isn't boring like some of it's immitators *coughWarriorsofVirtuecough*

umm no general consensus for TMNT 2k7 is that its bad.

Theres two OVAs and each one is very different from the other one. Its based on the OT except the characters are anime-ish and its pretty cool. To further easternize in both OVAs they get some kind of power up that is anime-style.

In the first one they become "Super turtles" which just makes them even more human-looking and later they merge into one turtle. The second one they wear armors based on animals, this is done imitating Saint Seiya which was a popular anime/manga at the time around the world (except the US). They are pretty fun and makes you want to see more of those universes its definitely an interesting take. I don't remember if there is anything that connects the two OVAs or not so they could be two separate universes as shown in Turtles Forever, but there may be a small reference I'm forgetting that makes them in continuity with each other.

What do you mean by this? The movie DOESN'T have a general consensus?

any chance nick will air this movie when they get the ninja turtules I don`t get the cw as I have at&t u verse but not really a fan of the cw except for smallville

I will say this for TMNT III. It was a good story. It was just bogged down by the frequent irritants like the hand-me-down one-liners, the significantly less attractive animatronics, the unnecessary jokes (wet willies), Cory Feldman's pathetically uncharacteristic Donatello, new VAs, and the fact that the story was just good and not outstanding. So, I've come to tolerate it over the years, but it's still my least favorite of the movies.
Umm, no. General consensus for TMNT (2k7) is that its bad.
Made your quote a bit easier for people to follow.

Do you remember the reasoning for this? Because it was too tame. Just because they weren't showing grizzly deaths on screen, there was no blood & guts, and the Turtles weren't drinking beer, it was called infantile. A dude getting tied to a tree and (off-screen) scewered and Raph coming so close to gouging out Leo's eye render this argument elitist nonsense. The 13 monsters? I agree that was rather lame, but not enough to make this a bad movie.

Critics hates it
All professional movie critics I've seen review it hate all TMNT movies just because they remind of how undignified the '80s toon became, so I ignore biased, elitist opinions like that.

If you're talking about real movie critics, of course all the Turtle movies got bad reviews. Go check TMNT 4 over at rottentomatoes...it got mostly bad reviews yet the fans liked it.

The TMNT movies are made for the fans, not some 50 year old movie critic.

People really need to stop using this word... to quote Jon Stewart: "Doesn't elite mean good? Or are we not looking for that anymore?"

I like the first one, hate the second and third ones, and like the fourth.

I was surprised the 80's Turtles didn't make any jokes about Baxter Stockman during the mutant fly scenes.

Make a thread asking about "TMNT (2007)" on any forum and you'll get a bunch of replies about how its bad. Even in the Technodrome forums people are not very fond of the movie. I personally like it but the general consensus is not a good one on the internet and outside the internet "it sucks because its cg/doesn't have shredder" even if the people saying that haven't watched it.

I'm going to guess most of the people posting that are my age or so. Kids probably ate it up though I found it to be frankly stupid. I didn't understand what continuity the film was in or anything. It was like superman returns in a way. A wtf movie with cool bits in it.

Having grown up reading the original comic and watching the 80s TMNT version, I loved this. Yes the 80s turtles in the movie were nothing like the turtles in the 80s series, but who cares. It was an over-exaggeration for comedic value.

I noticed that they showed a number of the edited out scenes during when going to and from commercial. Does anyone know how much was edited out of this?

Edit:

Nevermind, Google is my friend. Apparently 12 minutes were cut.

This. Was. Amazing. I just got around to watching it and I loved it. One of the best things I've seen all year. I never really watched the 2k3 series aside from episode here and there, but I grew up with the 80's series and the films, so I knew the characters well enough. The TV movie had everything that makes the Turtles so great, comedy, action, goofy sci-fi, serious bad guys, awesome mutants, ninja action, and pizza.

I have never read the original Turtles comics, however this movie made want to read them. They seem like a terrific parody of the 80's comic grittiness. I hope that, Nick deal aside, this gets a DVD release because I would love to own it.

This year has been pretty hard on me lately, I"m turning 18 in a couple months and graduating next month. This movie brings nostalgia for one of my fondest childhood memories, and as it brings an end of an era for the Turtles I'm reminded of my first few years as a kid. Here's hoping the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! movie (Which has a similar idea) brings the same kind of feeling.

Chaos Yoshi, you should know that the original comic book's Frank Miller elements don't really last past issue 1. Eastman and Laird dispensed with the narration by issue 2, and by issue 3, it'd begun introducing more general sci-fi elements. It's still worthwhile--I'd recommend the Collected edition that came out a few months ago--but for quite different reasons.

Yeah, the Mirage comic Turtles aren't serious all the time like in this special. This was based on issue #1 where the Turtles didn't have distinct personalities yet.

For those who never read the comics, the best way I could describe the Mirage Turtles is a more laid-back version of the 2k3 or Movie Turtles.

Michelangelo is a lot more mature in the comics than he has ever been depicted in the cartoons or movies, but the other three Turtles act pretty much the same you expect them too. Its a mix of the 2k3/Movie Turtles, but not toned down for kids.

Just a friendly reminder, you can read twenty-one issues of TMNT (including the first issue) for free at the official website:
http://ninjaturtles.com/html/comic.htm

Just keep in mind that Nickelodeon could take over the website any day now, so if you're interested in reading you might want to start soon.
