Here we go another TMNT episode adn another talkback!

Wow. What a beginning.

Well that was... intense.

Can't believe they offed that guy by having him turn to dust.

Where is Angel's nose ring?

The nightmares were creepy. Although I will admit that the opening was cheesy. Anytime you have a hero looking up and screaming "NOOOOOOO!" over a dead person's body it is cliche in the extreme.

Now the ENDING I liked. Looks like the creature thing will be back. And even if it's not it was a VERY scary note to go on on having that schlub be possesed. A good episode. ****.

Very good episode, referances to the Image comic and Lovecraft horror stories, three great knightmares (Dons was a bit weak), Angel is a good character and I'm glad she returned though it is odd Casey did not show up. Also the there will probably be a followup in season four.

Followed by a horribly rushed, lame, and pointless episode.

If the creature needs to feed off people ala Matrix, why does it give them nightmares, which could force them awake, instead of happy fantasies to keep them sedated?

This episode did get away with a few things though.
-The implied killing of the native in the flashback
-Leonardo impaling Splinter with his kitana (even though he's not real)
-The old guy dying and turning to ashes onscreen.

I did like the semi-interesting connection between the house and wall street, though.

And what ethnicity is Angel? (she looks older now, btw). She seems to be a lot more darker skinned than her brother.

2 stars.

Ponders that. That is a VERY good point.

Edit: Hey, I just thought of something. Maybe it feeds on fear like Pennywise the Clown. I was getting a VERY It vibe from this episode.

Hey, yeah. Me too. Especially at the end when it revealed the creature. I was waiting for it to say "look into my deadlights!".

Good episode overall. It was cheesy in some points but pretty good. :)

Anyone catch Klunk at the beginning of the episode? :D

Leo stabbing Splinter was a real envelope pusher. Yeah, it was a hallucination but still!

The ending to this episode indicates that the creature isn't completely dead. However, does it still linger somewhere with a physical form or just in electrical signals?

I wonder if that creature will have an origin of some sort? A failed experiment by the Utroms perhaps? Or an escaped native off some planet?

interesting greed theory: Manhattan Island, Wall Street, the Call of Gold across the Pond...

if there is a 4th Season (please let there be) we may see this Meteor Monster again.

sidenote: i guess purple hair is hereditary...unless grandma dyes their hair for them.

looking forward to the Mousers return next wkd.

oh yeah, and Mikey's portfolio crack was funny. Too many tech stocks, huh?i've got some kinks in my portfolio too, time to switch some things around

Angel probably doesn't have the nose ring anymore because she's given up her rebel attitude after the Purple Dragon ep back in Season 1.

She does look older here, which makes sense as Season 3 can be anywhere from 1-2 years after Season 1.

Overall this episode should have been a 2 parter. You could tell this episode was rushed, it really needed to be spread out more over 2 episodes, rather than rushed into a single ep.

Anyone like Klunks cameo at the very beginning?

The nightmares for Leo and Raph were the best of course. Leo's worst fear must be "failing" his Master, and Raph's "turning into the Shredder" which is sort of a throw back to the Image comic series.

At least the creature isn't completely dead, so maybe they'll do a better job explaining it in a future episode.

Overall, this really needed to be a 2 parter...it was just too rushed.

Deep Thoughts: 1/29 Sat

1. Hmmm... that monster had a Cthulhu-like face.

2. OK, why is it that evil monsters always have to show their most vulnerable spot just as when it has the good guys on the ropes?
(Could've just stayed underground and be safer.)

3. Hmmm... so the old man was the original guy. Can't say I never predicted it.

Establishing that Wall Street was founded by a Demon of Greed is the most political comment I've heard yet on this show. Of course that creature couldn't die!

> Anyone like Klunks cameo at the very beginning? <

Yes. I hope he shows up regularly; I always liked the idea of Mike having a pet kitty.

First off, Klunk returns! *glomps cute kitty*

Second, Kick ass episode!

I loved the guys nightmares, they all made sense to me. However, I don't think they represented their greatest fears though because I would think they'd all fear the same thing...losing everyone they care about. Still, their nightmares were good.

I loved the scene where Leo gets out of that egg thiny and goes to free Mikey, his nervous twitching in his sleep was so cute! Plus it was nice because he was having a nightmare about Leo, so to have Leo free him made sense.

Leo's dream kinda disturbed me, it was the most horrifying one. First poor Leo has to watch his father die, unable to do anything about it, and then he has to go through it again...with Leo having to kill Splinter himself!

I agree, I felt this episode was a tiny but rushed, would have liked to see more of the other guys nightmare.

Am I the only one who was expecting Brian to be younger than that?

At first, I felt that the ep focused too much on Leo, felt that someone else should have been the one to destroy the monster. Like maybe have Brian do it, but then I remembered that he had been down there for a couple of days starving to death and suffering from horrible nightmare involving bad things happening to Angel so...he probably wouldn't have been up to it.

After thinking about it though, Leo being the one to kill it became very appropriate. 1. It made him witness horrible nightmares about his father getting killed. 2. It put his brothers through hell with horrible nightmares. 3. It tried to kill them all, it attacked his family! So it felt right to have him finish it off.

I liked how it ended, means we'll get to see that ugly thing again sometime in a future season!

Angel did look a little older, her nose and eyebrow rings were gone.

I give this ep 10/10!

Me likey. Lovecraft, an explanation for why we have that stupid piramid on our dollar bills, the closest thing we'll ever get to hell, and Klunk. Sure, it might be the most unconnected episode yet--ending aside, I don't think the beast lends itself to another episode, but it was good to see something so radically different from the rest of the season.

Re the "stupid piramid on our dollar bills": the following is an excerpt from the government's explaination for it, presented at:

http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov/cic_text/misc/ourflag/greatseal.htm

"The Great Seal was first used on the reverse of the one-dollar Federal Reserve note in 1935. The Department of State is the official keeper of the Seal. They believe that the most accurate explanation of a pyramid on the Great Seal is that it symbolizes strength and durability. The unfinished pyramid means that the United States will always grow, improve and build. In addition, the "All-Seeing Eye" located above the pyramid suggests the importance of divine guidance in favor of the American cause.

The inscription ANNUIT COEPTIS translates as "He (God) has favored our undertakings," and refers to the many instances of Divine Providence during our Government's formation. In addition, the inscription NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM translates as "A new order of the ages," and signifies a new American era."

There have, of course, been plenty of other explainations tendered for that symbol, involving conspiracies by the Freemasons and/ or the Illuminati (whoever they are.) TMNT's new 'demonic' theory is similarly paranoid and unsubstantiated, so may well be a subtle satire (my congrats to Peter Laird & company, if it is!)

Finally got around to watching my tape of this today. If I was a kid, I'd definitely be shaking in my boots. Still, this episode did enough to give me a few shivers. Those nightmares were really freaky, 'specially Leo's double one. I agree with everyone, though... it did seemed rushed, and this definitely would've been perfect if it was at least a two-parter. The ending does present a whole 'we could return to this' angle, though.

"The Darkness Within" scores an 8 out of 10.

It certainly felt like a dip in the pool of movie cliches. National Treasure, anyone?

I might be the only one who cares but why is Scooby Doo basically unavailable everywhere? Netflix has only Mystery Inc and the two James Gunn movies. Tubi has What's New and Where Are You. Meanwhile HBO Max has basically nothing. I've been itching to watch the classic Scooby Doo direct to video movies lately and they're nowhere to be found outside of purchasing them on sites like YouTube.
Last night started watching a new adult animated series, a Netflix original that is basically the succesor to Big Mouth.

What is so great? Despite being a 18+ show, they actually bothered to give it a Romanian dub :ack::eek:
