Toonami Anticipation Thread

They're a business and when a business see's enough demand for something they generally give the consumer what they are asking for. But of course consumers don't always know what they want and are very fickle and that is why people are complaining about Adult Swim's Toonami not meeting their expectations yet.
Quoted for truth. =)

The funniest thing here... I see no reason Toonami won't be a success tomorrow. I'm willing to bet... That recent comments made about "shoe-string budgets" and "Toonami needs double ASA's usual ratings" has made everyone a little more than anxious. Which also may have lead to all this harsh criticism of Toonami? I know most of "hate" is made purely out of love for the Toonami brand.

We're all going to watch Toonami tomorrow and have a kick-ass time. Quite frankly, I dig the vibe of Toonami's current schedule. I'm sure everyone else will, too. ;)

Personally, I think the Toonami lineup is a very good one with the addition of Casshern Sins and Deadman's Wonderland. Both shows are basically newer and have never aired in the U.S before and it will be cool to see if they can find and audience via Toonami. Also, Bleach is still one of the most popular anime's out there and deserves a home on the network alongside FMA: Brotherhood, and I'm sure once Toonami makes some money they'll do their best to grab some more shows to take over Ghost in a Shell and Cowboy Bebop's time slot's.

As of now I'm completely happy with the lineup and the fact that they added a couple of new programs shows that they're trying and they aren't just adding Toonami packaging to their existing lineup. Kudo's to them!

:tom:

Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins now have show pages, and each also has a preview clip on AS Video (though I can't get them to play for some reason). They brought back Bleach's show page as well, after being inexplicably missing for a long time.

The Toonami page now lists the Saturday night schedule.

Um, does anyone know if the shows are going to be unedited?

Deadman Wonderland says TV-MA-V on the clip and the show page, but Casshern Sins says TV-MA-V for the clip and TV-PG-LV at the top.

My TV schedule shows them both as TV-14.

I can see the Casshern Sins rating on the show page as a mistake (or the first episode's rating?), and your guide probably just put a generic Adult Swim minimum rating, since even the schedule on the AS site doesn't list ratings for those shows.

I haven't seen either series, but if they end up edited, they're only going to be minor edits. We won't know for sure until they air.

They're definitely not going to edit a TV-MA show down to TV-PG, though. No chance.

I'm a bit wary of listening to DW's main character for an extended period. Not really the sort of voice I was expecting. He kinda sounds a lot younger than some of his classmates too.

Though, it would be fun to see the songs from the Toonami album that now goes for hundreds of dollars on here.

Wait, what? Deep Space Bass is worth hundred of dollars? That's a shocker. Of all the electronica releases I picked up in the early 00's, that the last one I would've expected to appreciate. I should've bought a dozen more back then I guess.

Lowest price on Amazon is around $75. Wish I had been paying attention back when it came out, I would have loved to have a physical copy of that CD. No way am I paying that much, though.

I never heard of either shows before but man..I'm really loving the animation that I'm seeing. :)

That's crazy.

DeMarco's [unclassified] compilation will turn dubstep haters into dubstep lovers. My God so much good stuff on there. I hope some of it winds up on Toonami, AS hasn't really been using the [unclassified] songs that much (if at all) and dubstep actually kinda fits Toonami.

I was thinking a bit of dubstep would be a great part of the new Toonami myself. It would be a great extension of the straight up dub tracks from the classic OST.

You know, I wonder why neither Toonami nor [as] ever went after Abenobashi. If they're looking for retro in the future that might be a good one.

How can we not be sure they don't still have the programs for the original TOM 3 stuff and raised the resolution and detail?

Man that was such a weird show. Maybe it was just the dub translation version. I dunno. I read the manga(the first manga I ever read next to A.I. Love You) and it kinda scarred me. *sniffles* Alot of explicit nudity. I think it used to run on G4 around...6 or so years ago.

Also, on an unrelated note, I noticed many fans wrinkle their noses at the psychological anime thrillers. Durarara and Paranoia Agent for example. I personally think they're awesome.

That's probably what happened. They likely still had the CG models for TOM 3 and the 2003-2007 Absolution somewhere in their computers, so I assume they took them and upgraded them to show more detail for HD, and made new bumps. That's my assumption, and we won't know how it'll really look until it airs tomorrow night.

Those pictures look amazing.

The anime kinda toned it down, and ever since G4 put it off the air I was hoping Turner would jump on it. It would work on this retro Toonami thing...after all, Toonami must have had the slightest interest in it, right?

Oh, and Oh! Edo Rocket would be nice.

So are they gonna make all new bumpers with Tom 3.5 or just reuse the old bumpers in HD? I know I read somewhere DeMarco said there was gonna be a small upgrade to the Absolution so probably new bumpers.

DeMarco confirmed on Monday that they're animating new bumpers. Due to the budget being low there's going to be a lot of reused animation for TOM as well though.

I'm thinking the reason why these pictures are looking great is because they want the animation that DOES get used to look amazing so we're not bored with it as it gets recycled.

I think that the bumpers will be all-new but there won't be that many of them, but there'll be enough to get the job done. That's how I interpreted it.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
