Toonami Anticipation Thread

Thinking on it now, I'm curious how Deadman Wonderland got approved if true. Sure it's a definente action show but over excessive violence aside I wonder how they managed to get Shiro past Kim Manning. Sure she isn;t actually naked but she certainly looks like it...

From what it looks like so far, Trigun seems like a likely candidate for returning. I'm hoping Final Act makes it on during the summer, and if it doesn't it most likely won't happen.

It's weird, I see the on the schedule, but I'm still having a hard time believing it. Mainly because it would be amazing if Deadman Wonderland had dubbed episodes ready this quickly, since FUNi just announced the license last summer at AX.

And the third slot is apparently Ghost in the Shell SAC. Which is surprising because they had it blank before. Maybe they had a third slot lined up for something that didn't go through in time?

Both shows are basically new to me, I didn't really give them a chance before (I only watched one episode of Deadman Wonderland, and I never bothered watching Casshern Sins when it was on FUNimation Channel). I'll be watching now, though, if they end up airing.
It's likely it could be a mistake but who knows we'll have to wait and see.

Found this on youtube. Not sure if this actually aired or someone made this up. Regardless, seems like if this is real DeMarco's probably getting hounded...

I'm more shocked by what's NOT there than what is. Congratulations to Andrew/Sketch for being psychic, though. AS seems to have gotten his favorite.

Deadman Wonderland on Toonami is awesome, just the kind of thing I was hoping for! Casshern Sins...it's been a while since it's been out in the U.S., so it feels like a random choice. But it's earier to believe this schedule is true than consider it false, and even though Casshern Sins is on many legal avenues, I'll make sure to watch it only on Toonami for the duration of it's run. (I haven't seen either show before, but I've heard they are good, or at the very least, average).

Ghost in the Shell's presence on the lineup is unexpected, but looking at the schedule, they only have ten episodes left until the second season is over. 12 for Cowboy Bebop. It makes sense to me that, since they have these shows indefinately, that they'd prefer to finish their current runs before replacing them. Luckily that'll be before the summer is over, and we should hopefully see some other classics/new shows come to the block immediately after. I especially count on an older series from Funimation, considering their buy two get one free deal should have ensured at least one classic to have been picked up alongside Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins.

Oh hey forum name change. ;)

DeMarco said those two new shows have nothing to do with Toonami.

Seems legit. Not shocked he's getting a lot of questions about Toonami, especially now that their schedule is listing seemingly legit stuff in the three mystery slots.

Someone asked him about Casshern Sins and Deadman Wonderland being on the schedule today, and he tweeted:

@Mendinso All will be answered later today.
Late last week he did say he was going to tweet some info on the new Toonami today, so we have that to look forward to later.

if GITS and Cowboy Bebop finished their runs, that would open up space on August 4 and 18, respectfully. Actually, Deadman Wonderland would finish the same week as Bebop, since it's 12 episodes long (unless they air the OVA episode). Casshern would end in November, and Fullmetal at the beginning of 2013

And wasn't that buy two, get one free thing stated as hypothetical or something? I don't think that's exactly fact.

Yeah, the buy two, get one free deal is hypothetical and a rumor. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Deadman was offered up as the lead show in a package deal, and Adult Swim picked Casshern to be the 2nd show in Deadman's package. Casshern has a really retro appearance that probably appeals to Mike Lazzo a lot.

I'm kinda shocked that they would have GITS and Bebop wrap up their current runs and not Kekkaishi or DRRR!! But yeah Bebop's half-over and GITS has only ten episodes left. Running them both buys Adult Swim and its partners more time to get more shows together. And Deadman is a short series and it'll be replaced.

EDIT: DeMarco's beginning his Twitter dump. Will be updating accordingly. I will retweet his posts so if you follow me on Twitter (I am @macattack50 there) and don't follow DeMarco you will get DeMarco's posts.

And the Toonami infodump Jason DeMarco promised is on!

SPEAKING OF WHICH: Something you should know about THIS Toonami: We have very, very little $$. This experiment will need ratings success...
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204615021290991616

...to receive more funding for new shows, more Tom animation, etc. I'm thankful for the $$ we've gotten, but it isn't a lot.
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204615193341341696

Toonami will have to prove itself to get more resources, just like it had to do when we first launched.
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204615297737555968

TOM: Will be voiced as always by Steve Blum. Who is doing it for love. Just like we are. Tom will be an updated hi-res version of Tom 3.0.
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204615480776986625

The Absolution will be a slightly different but almost identical version of the one from the Tom 3.0 era as well.
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204615668430143490

There will be no SARA for now. She costs too much to make. But if we can bring her back, we sure will.
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204615885049171969

We will try to have some new content each week- game reviews, music videos, content pieces etc. As much as we can afford and make.
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204616014774808576

Music: Music will come from a number of places: Ghostly, Warp Records, Victory Records, Now Again records, as well as...
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204616247466397696

...friends of ours like @therealelp, @flyinglotus, Chris Devoe, Ben Burton, and many others. No, we won't be using JBV.
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204616491876888576

Peter Cullen will NOT be the voice of the promos. He's busy with Transformers and Eeyore and doesn't do many promos. Love you Peter!
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204616648475414528

Schedule again: you are all entitled to your opinions, but we feel good about it. And yes, Kim Manning is programming it. Love you Kim!
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204617085702250498

Lastly, just want to say thank you to all who have supported and brought it back. If you can KEEP supporting us, we will have more $$...
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204617238471380992

...which means more shows, more Tom footage, Sara, etc. SO THANK YOU. And keep it up!
https://twitter.com/#!/Clarknova1/status/204617342704029698

And one last thing: this is my only Twitter account, and I'm considering going private, so don't take it personal. It's getting too crazy.

That's it for now! I will answer GOOD questions for the rest of today. Fire away if you're not stupid. If you are... shhhhhh

Info dump is starting on Jason DeMarco's Twitter.

First news:

No Naruto or DBZ due to them or related series being owned by the competition, or out of their price range.

Also, leaked schedule confirmed as legitimate. So we are definitely getting Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins.

High-res version of the TOM 3.0 era. No SARA (at least not yet). Too expensive for now.

EDIT: And no Peter Cullen, sadly. Too busy with other shows to voice many promos these days

We're allowed to ask him GOOD questions for the rest of the day as well.

Somebody please ask him about Panty and Stocking, co-productions, and about retro Toonami shows coming back.

I'm not liking the sound of this. I know ratings are important, but it would appear that expectations are very high and that it needs to match those expectations to actually get the support it needs to succeed. I know twitter has been ablaze, but online support seldom translates into huge ratings.

We're also getting some screamo background music, DeMarco confirmed to me that the Victory Records they're working with is the hard rock/screamo label. That fits Deadman Wonderland pretty well though.

And yeah, looks like ratings are going to tell the tale. I hope the block meets the expectations Williams Street is hoping for.

Well as long as their expectations for ratings aren't them expecting to get the same numbers from April 1st for every saturday from now on (I doubt their that stupid) I think we may be fine. Since DW was leaked though, I wonder when Funimation will roll out the dub cast

Looks like those looking for Big O season 3 or other Anime co-productions are out of luck. Turns out it was poor wording in the PR. :(

@Clarknova1 Any updates on the original programming you guys are supposed to be making?

@ZoneOne01 That was PR-speak that ended up being confusing. Sorry about that. NO ORIGINALS. Just new acquisitions

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
