"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Toonami said during one of their Q&As that they no longer have the rights to air Tartakovsky's Clone Wars, unfortunately.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. And I guess it isn't like they could buy it from DISNEY, one of their biggest competitors, of all people.

...Dial M for Monkey maybe? XD

[edit: sorry for all the dde4..'s. didn't know you couldn't use Emojis on here.]

Huh. I've always planned on watching Samurai Jack. Thank you, Toonami.

I'm fine with it cut down. Most who're aware of this show know what it sounds like and can watch it on DVD or some legit website.

I think they should pull an InuYasha and forgo the intro and just do the ending, trimmed or not. Wont make any difference to me.

Wonder if they're allowed the full intro if they chop off the end theme. We don't hear it for GITS, Bebop or Big O anymore (possibly others), and that doesn't bother me one bit --- Okay, they can't do that... (Jason explained in first link to SLtheFMA)

Also of note, DeMarco says in the comments of the latter tweet that Bleach's opening WILL be cut down now that it won't be the first show on the block.

Forgot I read that, too -- Likely means it may get its own 10s Toonami intro now.

Would be nice if Dandy got one since it'd only be another 10s.

I am immensely frustrated that the OP is gonna go. Shippuden IS ALREADY 22 MINUTES WITHOUT THE ENDING SKIT. Shippuden will be lucky to be 20 minutes long with the OP, ED, preview, and skit all gone. This is garbage, does AS really need 10+ minutes of commercials in Shippuden's slot?

At least we might get a 30-second custom intro out of it which would be nicely retro.

So Toonami has to get rid of the one thing that's worth watching Shippuden? Greeeat.

Well, there is really nothing the Toonami guys can do about it. I'm sure they wanted to but sadly it's not in their hands.

Samurai Jack will be replacing FLCL after this run.

No transcript, but it starts up at 1:48:30 if you want a reference point for the announcement. No timeslot yet, that info is TBD.
SJ Is a grate series can't wait to hear more when it's coming
now Toonami lets talk about Star Wars: Clone Wars...maybe? if Disney was nice? =)

So, the deed has finally been done: the Backdoor schedule has been deleted.

Yeah they really should have been able to keep the full Naruto intro and stay under 22 minutes but it looks to me they want to get it closer to 21 minutes or less. Soul Eater's Toonami run time is less than 22 minutes and One Piece is sometimes less than 21 minutes.

On the bright side I'm quite looking forward to seeing 30 second Toonami intros again. IMO they should just do that for everything but Space Dandy, GITS and IGPX (already has a Toonami custom intro just not quite like a standard one).

But at the very least for the love of all things good and decent replace "RISE" on the Naruto reruns with a Toonami custom intro.

I actually really like Bleach's final OP. I'm quite disappointed with the decision.

Here's the schedule for December 28th, according to Zap2it.com, TVGuide.com, and Adult Swim's website:

12:00 AM - Trigun: Badlands Rumble
3:00 AM - Cowboy Bebop - Episode 5
3:30 AM - Cowboy Bebop - Episode 12
4:00 AM - Cowboy Bebop - Episode 13
4:30 AM - Cowboy Bebop - Episode 17
5:00 AM - Cowboy Bebop - Episode 25
5:30 AM - Cowboy Bebop - Episode 26

Trigun: Badlands Rumble is only 1 hour and 30 minutes long, so we may be seeing some surprises after the movie. It's also possible that they re-licensed Cowboy Bebop and are using it to hype up Space Dandy's premiere the following week.

EDIT: This has been confirmed by Jason DeMarco. Cowboy Bebop won't be in HD, however.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
