"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Well I guess I can go to bed earlier than normal. Besides Space Dandy, I really have no desire to watch. I've seen all the Attack on Titan episodes they're playing, so I really don't need (or want) to see them again.

So just Dandy and then I get to find something else to watch that weekend it seems.

I hope they can get Battle of Gods for the Christmas break.

If Dandy does well at 11:30 and Titan reruns can do better than Bleach has at midnight recently, I wonder if that means there will be schedule shake-ups as a result (seems inevitable with Black Lagoon ending and BtB not doing so great at 2:30).

I could see some schedule shake ups in the near future. I'm not sure if they'd put Space Dandy back on its original premiere slot or move Bleach off from its midnight slot even if Space Dandy and Attack on Titans reruns perform significantly better with their ratings, but I'd be okay with that if that helps for the block's ratings to improve.

Dandy is going to end by the end of September, so I honestly doubt that we'll see any schedule change.

I would like to see Dandy reclaim 11:30, Attack on Titan finishing at midnight and Bleach finishing at 12:30 so it's paired with Shippuden again. I see that doing a lot better following Family Guy than the current arrangement which is a major change in tone going from Family Guy to Attack on Titan but they may leave well enough alone and go back to the same schedule for one more week until Black Lagoon Second Barrage concludes.

Seems impractical when Dandy's almost out the door anyway (and then just think... DBZ Kai at the start of the block! >_<)

Cohorts,

i wasn't expecting a attack on titan marathon for labor day weekend. i wonder how different the rating will gradually plunge as the night goes or or if there will be random highs and lows.

Buh-bye, Orange Ninja...

I'm fine with that, even though Naruto repeats did tend to get pretty impressive ratings for its timeslot. I don't know if that means that they aired the first fifty-two episodes again or if they chose to stop airing it due to needing the second timeslot for Hellsing Ultimate. This could also mean that they could get potentially two new shows for the lineup once they finish airing Hellsing Ultimate, which could be pretty cool. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of the slots it taken up by a rerun like with Sym-Bionic Titan.

They needed the 2nd timeslot for Hellsing Ultimate, they will have only run a little over 30 episodes of the 52 Naruto episodes they have.

Companions,

along with classic naruto i wish they would get rid of brotherhood and especially bebop as well. adult swim has been reairing those two for years. dude mentioned people complaining about bebop more when its off than on it but i doubt most of them are even watching it. also, as much as i like funimation their shows will be taking up more than half the block come september. it would be cool to see an anime from sentai filmworks for once.

I know that they needed the second timeslot for Hellsings Ultimate, but I wasn't sure if that also meant that they had finished airing the first fifty-two Naruto episodes. A part of me is kind of surprised that they would get rid of Naruto reruns before finishing going through the first fifty-two episodes again, but they would get rid of that in favor of new content.

Considering how popular Cowboy Bebop is, I doubt that's going to be removed for good anytime soon. They might remove Brotherhood, or at least there's a better chance that they'll get rid of that series than Cowboy Bebop. It also isn't surprising that Funimation shows take up so much of the lineup. They do tend to get a lot of popular titles and I wouldn't be surprised if they're more willing to work with Toonami in regards to the price of their shows compared to other companies like Viz Media and Aniplex. Seeing more anime titles from other companies would be nice, but I'm okay with the Funimation shows taking up most of the block. As for Sentai Filmworks, I wouldn't be against that myself, but I'm not sure if they'd be willing to work with them since I think that there's some conflict between Sentai Filmworks and Funimation. I might be mixing up the information, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.

Well Toonami has given us (or at least me in terms of DVRing) a reason to watch the Attack on Titan marathon: they're running a 7-part short series called Zurtrun during commercial breaks "every now and then." Not really sure what it's all about, but it does seem to be a "trip into the weirdness" as TOM said during the promo. Animation style reminds me of AS' style.

Considering how most of the shorts they've shown have been far too strange and off putting for my tastes, that isn't much of a reason for me to check out more of the marathon. It's a unique way to get people to watch it if they're curious about the short though.

i think ill skip Toonami this week im not much a fan of Attack on Titan, ill watch Space Dandy and then go Back watch Boomerang,

is Beware the Batman still new tonight?

There aren't any new episodes for anything except for Space Dandy. The rest of the lineup will be an Attack on Titan marathon, so we won't get any new episodes of their other shows until next week.

Interestingly enough, we got the full AoT intro for the first episode. As for the rest, it looks like we're getting the shortened version, but that was pretty much expected.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
